2012 NFL Draft: Manti Te'o returning to Notre Dame for senior season
Lisa Horne of Fox Sports broke the news Sunday that Notre Dame junior Manti Te'o won't enter enter the 2012 NFL Draft. Te'o is arguably the best middle linebacker prospect in the nation.
"I feel I'm not done at Notre Dame. I'll be coming back to Notre Dame," Te'o said, and Horne tweeted out Sunday evening at the Lott Trophy awards. Te'o's father, Brian Te'o, confirmed a report to the Chicago Tribune. It was also confirmed by the university in a release.
This season, Te'o leads Notre Dame with 115 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He was a finalist for the Butkus Awarda nd Lott Trophy.
As Horne noted, it left the crowd applauding the the junior's decision.
Horne also reports that Alabama's Dont'a Hightower says he knows whether he's coming back or not, but won't say publicly yet. By my guess, that means he's entering the draft. Hightower's stock will surely see a boost without Te'o in front of him.
Juniors have until Jan. 15 to declare for the draft.

YAY!!!!!!!!!
And this draft class just got worse… I expect guys like Belicheck and other smart drafters to trade as many picks this year for as many picks they can get in the future(while obviously getting fair value), like BB did in 09.
Who would win in a fight between... a grilled cheese sandwhich or a taco?
Well, I think the grilled cheese sandwich - in a fair fight. But if it was prison rules, I'd put my money on the taco.
Wow, that's pretty racist but correct.
NOOOOOO!!!
I WANTED HIM

wow, the preseason LB ranks have dramatically changed
Burfict fell off the face of the earth and Manti isn’t in it. Hightower is throwing a party somewhere lol
Just throwing this out there. Hightower may be waiting on the results of the Bama-LSU II game.
If they lose he will stay one more year, but beat LSU and he will come out.
Not saying this is it but could be a possibility, at least a contributing factor.
.
When the job is finished no one remembers how long it took, just how well it was performed.

Saw it coming
I read somewhere that he was coming back earlier this season. Hightower’s stock just went up a little.

lot of these guys going back to college since it doesn't pay to come out early anymore
Te’o was and will be a low 2nd rounder anyway kind of like Lauranitis.
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
Not at all. He was widely viewed of as the 2nd best draft eligible ILB and considered by many a top 20 prospect.
I have not seen one mock draft recently with him not in the first round

And the number of teams that draft big, hard-hitting MLBs now is...
Te’o is an old school LB. I don’t think he has great speed. He plays a position that has not been valued in recent drafts. And there are many options at the position. Hightower, Burfict, Kuechly. How many can go in the 1st? I’ll slightly deviate off Rorschach and say Te’o is Maualuga. Kuechly is Laurinaitis.
Along with speed, intelligence is a big part of the position. Kuechly might also not be the perfect athlete, but he makes up for it with his great intelligence. He beats everyone else to the sideline because he starts 3 seconds earlier. That’s why I have him as a 1st.
Mockers and the media don’t know everything. How many had Greg Jones as a 6th? And you know what? He deserves that slot. Good college speed, but a step too slow for the pros. Dannell Ellerbe was a 3rd on many boards here. Went undrafted. Jamar Chaney and Dekota Watson were mocked 3rd-4th. Went in the 7th. Then there are the surprises like Sean Lee going early. Or Jonas Mouton.

He is much more athletic than yoou are making him seem
And Teo is so much better than Burfict and its not even close. And i don’t know who had any of Ellerbe, Chaney, and Watson anywhere near the top 5 rounds. If you are trying to say that Teo would have went as low as some of those guys, you are out of your mind.

I don't think Te'o drops out of the top 50
He is a good player, he’s just not a deity. It is ridiculous to see so many mocking him in the top 10 to Philly just because “they have a LB need”. That’s higher than Willis.
Three months ago, everyone had Burfict as the top MLB/ILB in the draft. People had Paige-Moss in the top 10.
Watching last year’s Rose Bowl on ESPN Classic right now. I love Carder, but he’s getting pushed back by all the talent in front of him.
