2 Round Mocker
order is from walterfootball.com
- Indianapolis (1-13): Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
- Minnesota (2-12): Matt Kalil, OT, USC
- St. Louis (2-12): Justin Blackmon, WR, Ok. St.
- Jacksonville (4-10): Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU
- Cleveland (4-10): Matt Barkley, QB, USC: If Holmgren can't get Luck, Barkley is a perfect fit for Shurmur's WCO
- Tampa Bay (4-10): Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa: This kid is shooting up boards, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up here to a OT needy team.
- Washington (5-9): Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor: Barkley is likely a better fit for Shanny's WCO, but Griffin is too good to pass up for any team needing a QB.
- Carolina (5-9): Jonathon Martin, OT, Stanford: He's taken a slight tumble, but no way should he fall out of the top 10, especially in this weak of a draft.
- Miami (5-9): Landry Jones, QB, Oklahoma: If Locker can go top 10 after is senior year, then Jones should be able to if he declares. He's got the tools, he just needs more coaching, which is the same thing that can be said for Locker.
- Buffalo (5-9): Luke Kuechly, LB, BC
- Philadelphia (6-8) : Zach Brown, LB, UNC
- Kansas City (6-8): Trent Richardson, RB, Bama: If Crennel becomes the coach, I could see him trying to build a dynamic run game, as a defensive coach. Pairing Richardson and Charles would do that for sure.
- Tennessee (7-7): Quinton Coples, DE, UNC
- Arizona (7-7): David Decastro, OG, Stanford
- Seattle (7-7): Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Bama
- San Diego (7-7): Courtney Upshaw, OLB, Bama
- Cincinnati - from Oakland (7-7): Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska
- Chicago (7-7): Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin
- Dallas (8-6): Jarvis Jones, OLB, UGA
- Cincinnati (8-6): Cordy Glenn, OG, Georgia: After watcing some tape, I'm really buying into this kid. He fits the ideal size for Cincy OL and he's pretty athletic for his size.
- New York Jets* (8-6): Michael Floyd, WR, ND
- Cleveland - from Atlanta* (9-5): Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina
- Detroit* (9-5): Michael Adams, OT, OSU
- Houston* (10-4): Devon Still, DT, Penn St.
- New York Giants* (7-7): Lamar Miller, RB, Miami
- Denver* (8-6): Melvin Ingram, DE, South Carolina: Robert Ayers may officially be a bust now. Not that he's terrible, he's pretty solid against the run, but if a pass rusher like Ingram is available, I don't see how EFX can pass it up.
- Pittsburgh* (10-4): Chase Minnifield, CB, UVA
- San Francisco* (11-3): Dwight Jones: If Harbaugh's serious about Smith being the long term starter, he'll need more people to throw to.
- Baltimore* (10-4): Barret Jones, OT/OG, Bama: Ozzie loves his Bama boys and his versatility along the OL makes him even more enticing
- New England - from New Orleans* (11-3): Mark Barron, S, Bama
- New England* (11-3): Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor
- Green Bay* (13-1): Jerel Worthy, DT, MSU
ROUND 2!!!!!!!!!!
- Indianapolis (1-13): Brandon Thompson, DT, Clemson
- St. Louis (2-12): Dontari Poe, DT, Memphis
- Minnesota (2-12): Janoris Jenkins, CB, Northern Alabama: There are likely only a few teams that will risk him in the first, and if they pass him, he could fall here.
- Cleveland (4-10): Andre Branch, DE, Clemson
- Tampa Bay (4-10): Stephen Gilmore, CB, South Carolina: It seems as if Bucs fans really are hoping there team reaches for a CB early. Your wish is granted.
- Jacksonville (4-10): Nick Perry, DE, USC
- Carolina (5-9): Jayron Hosley, CB, Va Tech.
- Miami (5-9): T.J. McDonald, S, USC
- Buffalo (5-9): Dwayne Allen, TE, Clemson
- Washington (5-9): Zebrie Sanders, OT, FSU
- Kansas City (6-8): Donta' Hightower, ILB, Bama: I've said it before, Donta' will experience a similar draft as to Brandon Spikes. Everyone knows he's good, but will question his athleticism, which will cause him to drop. However, I fully believe he will be successful.
- Philadelphia (6-8): Fletcher Cox, DT, Miss St.
- Philadelphia - from Arizona (7-7): Kelechi Osmele, OG/OT, Iowa St.
- Seattle (7-7): Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M: Each year, I get premonitions about a player and a team I think will be a matc months before the draft. Last year, I had Castanzo-Indy, in 09 I had Heyward-Bey-Oakland. This is my bold predicition this year. I'm still debating though whether the Seahawks will trade up in the first round or just hope he falls here.
- San Diego (7-7): Orson Charles, TE, UGA
- New England - from Oakland (7-7): Brandon Jenkins, OLB, FSU
- Chicago (7-7): David Wilson, RB, Va Tech: After the Denver debacle, not sure if they can bring Barber back. And even if they do resign Forte, this team learned how weak it is if he gets injured again.
- Tennessee (7-7): Nick Toon, WR, Wisconsin
- Cincinnati (8-6): Chris Polk, RB, Washington: If they don't get a RB round 1, they will almost have to get one in the 2nd.
- Dallas (8-6): Ben Jones, C/G, UGA
- New York Jets* (8-6): Markelle Martin, S, Ok St.
- Detroit* (9-5): Vontaze Burfict, LB, AZ St.
- Atlanta* (9-5): Levy Adcock, OT, Ok. St.
- Houston* (10-4): Alamada Ta'amu: The more I watch this kid, the more underwhelmed I am. However, there's good value here and he should be best suited at Wade Phillips' NT
- New York Giants* (7-7): Rueben Randle, WR, LSU: Cruz has been great, but Nicks and Manningham have been inconsistent. Nothing like using an early pick on a WR to give the whole unit a kick in the pants. Plus, this ain't no bluff, this guy has produced in a terrible passing offense, no small feat in the SEC.
- Denver* (8-6): Brandon Boykin, CB, UGA
- Pittsburgh* (10-4): Kevin Zietler, OG, Wisconsin
- San Francisco* (11-3): Ronnel Lewis, OLB, Oklahoma: Some people have been impressed enough to mock him in the first, but I don't see it. Late second is good value for him.
- Baltimore* (10-4): Bruce Irvin, OLB, WVU: May be a bit small for a 3-4 OLB, but Balty needs a bona fide rusher opposite Suggs and Ozzie's too good of a drafter to pass up a guy like Irvin in the hopes that Kindle will bounce back.
- New Orleans* (11-3): Travis Lewis, LB, Oklahoma
- New England* (11-3): Billy Winn, DT/DE, BSU
- Green Bay* (13-1): Vinny Curry, DE/OLB, Marshall: Not the ideal 3-4 OLB fit, but he can rush the passer, and the Pack could use more of that.

I don't mind the Giants drafting a WR, just not this one.
I wholeheartedly agree that Manningham has been a bit of a headache.
That said, you’re wrong about Nicks. He has been pretty damn good this season, just not last game. That doesn’t even account for the fact that he helps draw coverage away from Cruz.
The thing is, if Randle is supposedly a replacement for Manningham and the biggest knocks on him are that he is inconsistent and a sloppy route runner how is that different?
With Nicks
I think he just has mental lapses sometimes. I didn’t make the pick to replace him though. I tink drafting a WR early could help motivate him to overcome those lapses and replace Manningham.

Manningham is a FA
So WR makes sense, but I think Bryoles makes more sense though. Move Cruz to the outside with Nicks on the outside, Broyles slot.
But we also have to see how much they like Jernigan before I’m sure they’ll go WR.
Rather have Boykin there (among others) Terrel Thomas And Aaron Ross are both Free agents

not in the 1st 2 rounds.
not when their needs are LB and oline.
they have barden and jernigan. with hixon possibly returning if they cant sign cruz.

Thank you for not giving us a linebacker
The Giants do draft a lot of WRs, and Manningham is very inconsistent. They might have avoided early RBs for awhile but the lack of a running game this year should shake some things up. I could also see us having interest in a lot of the guys after us in the 1st round.

Not a bad first round pick but I’d prefer Ta’amu in the 2nd .. Housley just isn’t tall enough we need a CB 6 foot and over
by rscott94 on Dec 21, 2011 6:05 AM EST via mobile reply actions
Way too early for Ta'amu
was looking DT but it was too early for anyone. Hosley I’m a big fan of, and while I understand you’d like taller CB’s I don’t think you should pass on him because of his height

Bucs
I hate the first pick. I mean hate hate hate hate. Huge reach. Yes, we need a RT but this is way too early (other than if Kalil drops) and way, way too much of a reach. Hate. Hate. Hate.
I could live with the second pick considering how needy we are at corner, but I’d take Burfict. Despite his problems, his talent is first round, and we are almost as desperate at LB as CB.
Yugly.
Reiff may seem a reach now
but as I said, he’s skyrocketed on some boards. I think come draft day he could easily be the #6 overall pick
C'mon, join us, there's plenty of koolaid on the Broncos bandwagon for everyone!
by DBroncs1414 on Dec 21, 2011 11:29 AM EST up reply actions
It doesn't "seem" like a reach, it is a reach
He isn’t even the best tackle left on the board, much less the BPA, much less a position of serious need. We need to upgrade our RT. We can do that (easily) in a later round. We are not jumping to take a player who isn’t at a position of greatest need, isn’t even the best player at his position left, and definitely isn’t BPA.
If we make that pick I will throw my remote into the TV, throw my TV into a lake, and go buy a trout at the supermarket to slap across the glazer’s faces. Horrifically bad pick.
Did I mention I hate this pick?
Yugly.
Not mine
I don’t think it is even close to be honest. I think it goes Kalil then Martin then everyone else.
Yugly.
Clearly you havent watched Martin this year
He has been dominant at times but has had his fair share of bad games. Reiff has been as solid as anyone this season.

Point is, we have much more pressing needs than drafting a right tackle
Right tackles are available in later rounds. The #1 LB prospect and the #2 cornerback prospect will not be.

not really.
their are 64 starting tackles in this league.

I hate arguments such as these
that better players at a certain position can be found in later rounds… I can understand the point of saying RT isn’t as much of an impact position as CB, but there are no CB’s there and while I like Kuechly the same argument can be made for a MLB. MLB’s don’t present great value early in the draft
C'mon, join us, there's plenty of koolaid on the Broncos bandwagon for everyone!
Depends on the MLB
Kuechly could have a huge impact for the Bucs. Reiff? Maybe, but I doubt it.

Not yours maybe
but i was referring to the people who actually matter in the football community. Not saying you don’t know your stuff but I would be you don’t get paid to do it for a living.
Absolutely agree
Teams don’t draft right tackles with the #5 overall pick. Left tackles, yes- but that’s not a need position for the Bucs.
Kuechly makes much more sense. A trade down would make sense. Kirkpatrick would probably be a stretch, but he would make sense. Richardson would be a choice I would disagree with, but he would make sense. Reiff does not make sense.

I would agree if Haley was gonna be around next year
but with defensive minded coaches, they like to have solid ground games and not sure if Charles would be as effective if he had to handle a load of carries. With Richardson, you can use Charles most effectively, which, IMO is not being a workhorse back.

Agreed
Vet RB’s can be found for $2-$3mil/yr. It is hard enough to take a RB in round 1 these days let alone a team with a RB like Charles. Even coming off an ACL injury he is still a top 15 RB in the NFL.
I agree that DeCastro would be a solid pick here. I could also see the 2nd best CB in the draft if they let Carr walk.
What a year! At least we have the Royals... Oh Wait!
so can every position
I hate the arguments that certain positions can be found in certain rounds… The same argument can be made for every position! There are plenty of examples of late round guys excelling at every position, you shouldn’t allow that to affect how you draft

That the Steelers pass on Hightower and Barron, which are much bigger needs than CB and the BPA could be argued.

Barring me totally not seeing him, why would Whitney Mercilus, should he be available in the second not be the pick over Perry?
I think Mercilus is a limited prospect
but Perry has a much higher cieling, IMO. I know it may be a bit unpopular but I think Mercilus may be more of a 3rd round pick. I don’t think he’ll be a double digit sack guy, while I believe Perry will be.

Bills
Not Kuechly isn’t a very good football player, but he’s an MLB, the Bills serious hole is at OLB.
Yeah....
but its BPA. Upshaw I could see there but Kuechly is a much better prospect and it would be crazy for the Bills to pass Kuechly for him. That would be the definition of picking for need, which usually doesn’t work as well as BPA

rams 2nd pick
Id have to take Janoris Jenkins if he is there. With Spags most likely out they don’t need to fulfill his 4 pillars so he would be to good to pass up for me
I know...
As nice as it would be to have a bunch of great role models winning in football. Its not happening any time soon so adding him would fill a need on defense and get Polk in the third hopefully and I would be so happy with this draft. Blackman, Jenkins, and Polk. That would be a great first three rounds.
If we're going RB/WR combo
I’d prefer Dwight Jones in the 1st and Chris Polk in the 2nd, because the Giants would technically be picking before the 8-6 Bengals.

I saw that, I'm not faulting you.
Just saying that I believe they messed up lol. I love the sig by the way, I must admit Tebow is awesome.
Love Baltimore's first pick
You’re right, Ozzie does love his bama boys.
Irvin is a stud player, but not so sure we need him like you think we do. We are 2nd in the league in sacks right now at 45 (1 behind Philly), so our pass rush definitely is not lacking to the point where we need Irvin. We have guys like Paul Kruger and maybe even Sergio Kindle in the future who could be our OLB. But right now, OLB is the least of my worries.
Flacco has to trust his receivers to make catches, but shouldn’t throw towards coverage. He needs to attack deep more often, but shouldn’t hold onto the ball so long. He needs to show more awareness in the pocket and move to extend plays, but nothing good comes of him leaving the pocket. He should run with the ball if nobody’s open, but he definitely can’t run with the ball.
Flacco should have the awareness of Roethlisberger, the elusiveness of Vick, the control of the offense of Manning, the leadership of Brady, the accuracy of Brees, and the arm strength of … Flacco? - Ampallang
I didn't make it so much out of need
I’m just saying long term, the Ravens D would benefit from a long term rusher on the other side, and banking on Kindle to do that would be very un-Ozzie like

But we may be banking on Paul Kruger to do that for us. He is having a solid year and could very well be the starting OLB 2-3 years from now.
Seems like a BPA pick to me though, and I never have a problem with Ozzie choosing those guys.

Yea, would be nice. I like Mark Barron as well in the 1st, and he went right after Jones in this mock.

I like Barron a lot as a SS, but I think we could use more of a ball hawk FS. We could always use Zbi at FS, but it would be kind of nice to replicate what made our defense so good for so many years. I haven’t watched a whole lot of him to know if he could play FS, but my impression that he was more of a SS. I really like Markelle Martin’s potential at FS and think he would be awesome to have sit behind Ed because he’s got all the tools. Ideally I would want Hightower or Burfict in the 1st and Martin in the 2nd, but we would probably have to trade up for him.

Kruger has been extremely solid as a pass rusher and has really shined this year. There’s also Mcadoo who we got out of UNC that has a ton of potential as a pass rusher. We definitely aren’t just banking on Kindle he would just be an added bonus.

Nicks is the #1, that’s basically in stone. That aside, Randle’s a good pick although I’d think Barden and Jernigan get a fair shot if/when Manningham leaves.

With Nicks
I wasn’t focusing solely on this year. As a NJ native, I watch G-men games almost as much as I watch Broncos games, and Nicks I’ve noticed as made spectacular catces one play then drop a wide open easy catch the next.
In no way am I saying replace him, I’m just saying by putting a guy in their early it may be incentive for him to improve his craft, which I think he can. With as much as you guys are passing he could definitely produce at a much higher rate, IMO

Jets
Me likes. I might take Irvin in round 2 though.

I don't like Irving that much I think Curry is the better prospect

I could see that (Irvin)
but Markelle is slightly higher on my big board, and also, Rex can get away with weak pass rushers (he’s done a decent job of it thus far), but can he continue to get away with sub par safety play?

Browns
I think QB , WR is a very likely outcome for Cleveland in the first round just looking at BPA and where our picks will fall. Amazingly it kind of lines up with our needs. Either Barkely or Griffin will be available with our first pick and there is a good chance of Jefferies, Floyd, or Wright being taken with our second.
TRADE BACK with Redskins or Miami if possible. If neither on is biting, then look to KC or Seattle for your out. If no takers, then pull Griffin off the board. I dont see that happening, because Shannahan wants a QB now and he’s gonna need one if he likes coaching in Washington.

Good draft for the broncos.
Ingram is a sick athlete. I’ve never seen a DE like him before. Those highlights on youtube are impressive. Also I like the second round pick. Good job here!

Ta’amu or Ben Jones would make sure sense for the Chargers in the second. But positions are needs from a starter and depth point of view
Winning
Ta'amu I don't like in 3-4's
especially as an NT. Jones could be a good pick, are you guys bringing back Hardwick?
C'mon, join us, there's plenty of koolaid on the Broncos bandwagon for everyone!
He's more of a penetrator
best in a 1 gap system. You do run a 2-gap 3-4 right? Or did you keep Wade’s 1 gap 3-4?

it's both most 34 are
it has more one gap philosophy than say a KC 34 though. remember that ron ron came from a tamba 2 one gap background so he tweaked the look some. and manusky the current defensive shot caller was a linebackers coach under wade. so yeah the system itself puts a premium of quicker DTs look at the player they drafted last year to play the 5T. most called corey liuget a prototypical under tackle
Winning
Plus
ive always hated the whole “he cant anchor” garbage. you can teach a guy how to two gap it’s just technique, you cant teach 330 lbs with explosion.
Winning
That's a good point
But my problem with Ta’amu is that he really doesn’t play that big. Maybe it’s just a technique problem but he gets pushed around easily by PAC-12 OL, doubt he’ll do much better at it in the pdos

doubt the giants go offense at all in the 1st 2 rounds
and if they do. it wont be at those 2 positions. it will be likely at oline.
they do not need a HB. not a 1st rd talent one anyway.
and WR? they have one of the better recieving corps in the league.
the needs that the giants need to adress are LB and Oline

Needs...
Your team drafts BPA, why would I mock them according to their needs?
C'mon, join us, there's plenty of koolaid on the Broncos bandwagon for everyone!
because their arent going to take a hb.
that would be just stupid. and our GM isnt stupid
their arent going to draft a reciever
Eli doesnt need a reciever, especially one in the 2nd round. they can throw any old guy from the streets out their, and he’ll look like victor cruz.
the giants dont draft BPA acording to ESPN or whoevers draft lists.
they draft BPA according to position, and their list.
last year people put HB’s to them early. they didnt take one till the 6th round.
i dont understand why people would think this year is any different

Still following Walter's draft order? ;)
There are no apostrophes in plurals.
A lot is two words. Allot can be one word but it has another meaning.
The only time you really want to use "myself" is when you are the recipient of your own action. Usually you're better off using "me."
Your is not the correct contraction of you are. The word you're looking for is you're.
It's anyway, not anyways.
But if you only remember one thing...
There are no apostrophes in plurals.
It's so much easier
without the real thing settled. It takes half the time making the order before the season ends

Dallas.
That’s a good way to address our needs but I am not sure about Jarvis Jones. The combine will sort out a lot of my questions, but I lean more towards a bigger OLB like Nick Perry or Brandon Jenkins (both of whom I think will shoot up draft boards). Devon Still could also be an option there although I have concerns about his motor.
In the second round, I like Konz since we could definitely use some interior help. With that being said, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see us not worry about offensive line until the later rounds based off of what we did last year in the draft. In that case, I wouldn’t mind using a pick on Martin from OSU or Boykin from UGA. Our secondary definitely could use help.
If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.
Jones is a much better pass rusher then those 2 guys
and he’s young, he’ll fill out. I think it would be foolish for anyone to pass on Jones for those guys because of size.
for the 2nd round, I don’t think the Tyron Smith pick should affect getting interior line help early. I know Jones loves the sexy picks, but the inteior of your OL is mediocre at best, and adding a guy late likely won’t help the unit for a couple seasons

A few things.
If Ingram (my favorite college player) went to Denver (my least favorite team) then I might just kill myself lol. I’d have to tune out every Broncos game or news channel here just so I wouldn’t have to see him in Denver’s ugly blue and orange unis.
The other thing is that Burfict would be a much better pick than any CB in the first. He’ll drop because of his attitude and stupid mistakes, but those are things that the Steelers could easily sort out as soon as he arrived. In fact, I think the Steelers have the best fit for him out of any team in the NFL.

I’m a Broncos fan, I’m astonished anyone hates us outside of the AFC West. You like Baltimore better then us? Wierd, I could care less about anything Pittsburgh does.
As the Big Lebowski said:
“Yea, well, you know, that’s just like, uh, your opinion, man”
I think your extremely mistaken on Burfict. I think the Steelers have one too many headaches at LB, doubt they’ll draft another one in the first.

I live in Denver and have to put up with you people every day. The people that I’m referring to include those who think that the Broncos are going to the Super Bowl (haha), and those who think that Tebow is actually good (haha), so my hate for your team is very personal.
You like Baltimore better then us?
Yes. I have respect for Baltimore, their players, and their defensive tradition but I have none for the Broncos or anyone on the Broncos, aside from maybe Von Miller.
Wierd, I could care less about anything Pittsburgh does.
What you meant to say is, “I couldn’t care less”, not “could”.
I think the Steelers have one too many headaches at LB, doubt they’ll draft another one in the first.
You are of course referring to Harrison, I understand, but that makes you all the more wrong. Do you really think that the Rooneys or Tomlin have a problem with the way Harrison plays? Since you “could care less about anything Pittsburgh does” I don’t expect you to understand, but let me tell you that the Pittsbrugh FO and ownership love Harrison. If they could get another player with as much talent as him for the small price of a few attitude problems (which Harrison doesn’t have), which they could easily fix with the veteran leadership of the Steelers’ locker room, then you can bet your butt they would pull the trigger on him.

I don't live in Denver or believe the Broncos will win the SB
And Denver fans are no different then anyother fans, there are plenty of ignorant homers everywhere, and they are most concentrated in the teams area.
And I’m sure your right on Harrison, I bet they loved Harrison urination quote to the commish and posing with firearms, how silly of me. Were also talking about one of the last guys having trouble adjusting to the new rules, and who commits penalties that hurts his team. I’m sure the Rooneys love the fact the money they pay him goes straight back to the NFL, building a nice image for their storied franchise
And thanks for the grammar correction. This is an online blog, not high school English.

Harrison has no trouble adjusting to anything. Before the Browns game several weeks ago, he hadn’t committed a H2H/roughing the passer since around November of last year and even had his fines from 2010 reduced because the league decided that he was adjusting to the new rules. And yes, beside all of that, the Rooneys love Harrison because of his amazing skill and hard-hitting defense, which I’m sure they miss from the 70s.
"If you havin' dragon problems I feel bad for you son, I got 99 arrows but my knee took one."
nah, Steelers like taking head cases. look at there team, majority of them are women beaters, rapists, or both. Don’t try to get into an arguement with one of there fans either, their minds dont work normally, and usually they are the same kind of people as the players.
