I considered Jenkins, but I went with talent there

Thompson isn’t a need, but him and Atkins together in the middle, with Dunlap on the edge would be unstoppable. Peko is good, but he’s more of a run stopper.

It's a good thing that Peko is a run stopper.

Geno Atkins is one of the top pass rushing DTs in the league, so it’s nice to have someone to help shut down the running game next to him. And besides that, Peko is having his best year when it comes to stuffing the run and rushing the passer- he’s even been consistently blowing up screens in the backfield. I wouldn’t mind getting a DT at some point in the draft, but getting one in the first round would be a waste of a pick (even if he is extremely talented.)

KC

Would take DeCastro before they drafted an ILB.
I am not a fan of taking an OG that early in the draft but with the new payscale it isnt that big of an issue. JJ Watt was the 11th pick last year and has a contract worth $11.23 over 4 years. Not bad at all. If the top 10 falls that way KC would take DeCastro or even a CB(if Carr doesnt get resigned.)

What a year! At least we have the Royals... Oh Wait!

Seahawks

I don’t like spending a 1st on a RB, but it’s well within the realm of possibility.

Richardson at 14

Would be a heck of a grab… Trading down in front of the Bengals would be better value but that is easier said than done.

What a year! At least we have the Royals... Oh Wait!

by KSU-Chief on Dec 22, 2011 2:33 PM EST up reply actions

yeah the value was too high there and if they don't resign Lynch then I think it could happen.

If Barkley does declare I think a trade up for him is probable, if he doesn’t a trade back could happen.

Steveospeak - Content Manager of Fanspeak.com

by Steve Shoup on Dec 22, 2011 3:05 PM EST up reply actions

No RB pick in the top half of the draft is a "value" pick, though

Is Richardson any better than Wells or Ingram or Moreno or Stewart or Mendenhall or Jones or Johnson? Most of those guys were drafted in the back end of the 1st and struggled for years while less highly-drafted RBs out-performed them. Johnson’s the only guy that’s really been a “franchise RB” for a complete season he’s seemed to stop producing once he got paid.

There’s only been one 1st-round RB in the last 5 years that’s been worth his draft slot.

by Greetings from the Lord Humongous! on Dec 22, 2011 5:33 PM EST up reply actions

Jags

Even hough I figure draft higher, let me assume they do draft where you have them.

1)Blackmon is going to really need to impress @ the combine and pro day to warrant him going so high, but the way things fall I do think he is the right pick
2)A few things about the second round. first of all, Sanu is returning to Rutgers. Also Landry Jones is not falling to the second round. FInally, I think the jags pick is bad. Not sure how Dwight Jones is not the selection. He is first round talent and you have him in the third round. that is absolutely hysterical!!
3)Pretty good pick, although Nick Perry is not falling into the 3rd round
4)A ton of better options over the WR from Ohio St. I would name McNutt and Brewster as two names that are def better than this guy you have the Jags taking.
5)Matt Reynolds is a much better option IMO. Even Carder should he somehow be there is a better option
6)Bequette is also a good option, but I cannot complain with the McClellin

Overall, this is a pretty awful moch becuase I feel lke your overall big board that i assume you based this mock on is just awful. you have way too many guys going 2 rounds lower than their talent dictates. Just too unrealistic if you ask me.
6)

by Jagsrok9008 on Dec 22, 2011 2:29 PM EST reply actions

thanks for the feedback

I’ve not seen anywhere that suggests Sanu is going back, any link you have would help. I just don’t see Landry Jones as a first round pick right now, he’s really struggling and getting exposed.

Dwight Jones is a good prospect, but no way he is a first round talent right now.

This is a deep draft class right now, and I think you’ll be surprised where some of these guys fall.

you are definitely wrong on Jones. He might even be a better pick than Alshon Jeffery who is #2 or #3 WR in the draft according to most.

Much rather see Floyd or Konz there.

Love Barrett Jones in the 2nd, even if we took Konz. Lester in the 3rd is good too.

Hilton in the 5th does not match – we drafted Jernigan last year, very similar player. Great talent after that. I’d take Reynolds, Acho, Broyles, Tandy, Carder.

You missed my point

A RB can do or say whatever he wants. All he has to do is take the ball and run with it. A QB or MLB has to run the game. Make calls, recognize what is going on, be responsible for 10 other guys. Teach. Can you imagine if Eli, upon Manningham dropping that TD last game, starting yelling at him as he came back to the huddle? Or if he walked off the practice field because he did not like the coaches?

Burfict is a head case. Lost his starting job. Benched for the bowl game. You can bench Bradshaw for a half. Not the leader of the offense or defense. Part of the Giants’ problem this year has been the lack of a consistent leader on defense.

The Jaguars Pick Makes Sense, But I Don't Think We Will Draft Him

We will look for a tall WR, 6’2"-6’4". If Blackmon was an in. taller, we would definitely pick him. Our best options are Alshon Jeffery, Dwight Jones, or both, which would be nice.

Blackmon is pulling away from everyone else

Unless somebody makes an epic surge to the top throughout pre-draft games and workouts, Blackmon is the top guy and the Jags aren’t going to really care that he’s only 6’1". If you guys were picking later (or the 2nd round), then I could see you saying you want Nick Toon over Kendall Wright because of the height, but with Blackmon it’s just not pheasable.

i agree with both of you about blackmon

I have no idea where the we only want 6’4+ wide receivers. We’ll take blackmon if presented with him

by TheTealDeal on Dec 22, 2011 3:51 PM EST up reply actions

Blackmon makes up for ONLY being 6'1 with his insane ability and range

the dude can get higher than Plax Burress who is like 5 inches taller than him. Height should not be the issue for blackmon

by Jagsrok9008 on Dec 22, 2011 4:12 PM EST up reply actions

Height won't get in the way with Blackmon. Not with that vertical leap.

It would be an issue if he was 5’7, but he’s still fairly tall and he can get higher than most people in the NFL. Height in a receiver is important, but if a guy is as talented as Blackmon that won’t hold him back.

I like his talent, but not worth the risk in the first round.

by tiderfootball09 on Dec 22, 2011 4:37 PM EST reply actions

Completely agree

Talent wise the Jenkins pick is a good pick however his character concerns will be too much for the Broncos and maybe any other team from taking Jenkins in the 1st, some teams may not even have him on their board at all. He potentially has a Pacman Jones type career ahead of him.

The last couple of picks are decent enough depth picks.

I’d say the Cards needs right now are:

3. Perry – Bad pick, he’s limited to the 34 OLB role in the NFL, because of his size. 6’3" 250 lbs.
4. Posey – Bad pick, another receiver? We have our depth, we just needs our starters, and he was suspended 10 games, that will probably take him off Gene’s board.
5. Herron – Bad pick, we don’t need another running back, unless its BAP, but he was suspended six games, which Gene doesn’t like.
6. McClellin – Good pick, very vesatile, and good motor.

Browns

THANK YOU for being one of like 3 people in the entire world to not mock Trent Richardson to the Browns. Great talent, but as of right now RB is not as big of a need as other positions with quality players worthy of a 4th/5th pick. Especially because you can find talent later in the first round or in the 2nd.

Plus I love Griffin. I hope this happens. And the second 1st rounder, I think, is a very smart pick. I have mixed feelings about Floyd, but I love that you got to our WR need.

I approve, and thank you :)

I like RGIII too, though I like adding 4-6 draft picks over 2 drafts, and with none of them being lower than a 3rd. Barkley has said thats he’s staying in school, and that just rachets up the value of RGIII. The Browns FO would be stupid to not explore and rob some other teams draft, preferably some team like the Redskins, for there 1,2, & 3rd this year & 2013’s 1, & 2 or 1 & 3. Thats what I would do with this pick.

Zach Brown has been good, but people are acting like he’s a complete LB. He’s athletic. Not great in coverage. Not great at tracking the ball. Can’t break down a running back.

He’s athletic. Also, the DT class isn’t terrible. No true stars, but a bunch of good late 1st round prospects. Can’t say that about this years OLB class

Yes. He’s not looking good at all. There’s some debate amongst Browns fans as to whether he should be given another year with some playmakers around him, but I think a majority of people don’t think he will pan out and want someone different.

your lions pick for a ot a t that spot in the draftis ok but it would not shock me if they went rb at that spot with david wilson rb out of virgina tech because best might not play foot ball next year and thier 1srt rd pick in las t year draft got hurt and did not play and might be ready to start next year right way . plus the lions always draft bpa in thedraft and wanger might be a soild ot but wilson on most draft boareds would grade out higher and ithink that the way the lions gm would go .
