Bedlam: Oklahoma at Oklahoma State NFL Draft watch notes
There may not be a Big 12 Championship Game this season, but bedlam between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State sure feels like it. The winner will go to a BCS game and the Cowboys have a slim chance to making it to the national title game. The Sooners come into the game banged up, but Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy has never beaten his rival (as a head coach).
Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones needs a clean game. He looks like a player who needs another year of college because his draft stock has plummeted this season. He's thrown several bad passes, and had two interceptions last week. A good game today would help, but his play screams of someone who needs more seasoning.
Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden is a favorite of many draft analysts, but I'm indifferent toward him. The age issue is a big factor and he needs to land in such a perfect scenario to be successful at the next level.
You have to wonder if Oklahoma cornerback Jamel Fleming is going to have a breakout game against Justin Blackmon like Leonard Johnson did a few weeks ago for Iowa State. Fleming has flashed great play at times this season and has the size to line up against Blackmon. The All-American wide receiver has dropped a few passes this season and that could help Fleming look good.
It may be time to take notice of Oklahoma State offensive tackle Levy Adcock. Unless I'm mistaken, he hasn't allowed a sack in two years. He'll get challenged today against Oklahoma's pass rushing ends Ronnell Lewis and Frank Alexander.
Oklahoma State free safety Markelle Martin may not have any interceptions this season, but he's good dropping in coverage. He's instinctive and loose moving around. He may not have a pick, but does have 10 pass breakups.
