Ravens could be eyeing a QB in 2011 NFL Draft
The Baltimore Sun is reporting that the Ravens could select a quarterback in the 2011 NFL Draft.
Besides Joe Flacco, the Ravens have Hunter Cantwell and Marc Bulger, who is a free agent. Bulger may be headed to Arizona, though. (Apparently Troy Smith and John Beck = no longer Ravens. Thanks everyone)
If a QB is taken in the draft, director of player personnel Eric DeCosta told the team website it wouldn't be in the first round.
"If there’s a [quarterback] available that we like, we’ll pull the trigger if we think he’ll make us better," DeCosta said.
The Sun's Matt Vensel reasons that Baltimore may look to add a developmental quarterback. If he's right, Baltimore could use one of its late-round picks on a quarterback. Currently the Ravens are without a fifth-round pick, but are due a conditional pick from St. Louis in the Mark Clayton trade. There are a few developmental quarterbacks in this year's draft, including Virginia Tech's Tyrod Taylor, Iowa's Ricky Stanzi and Nevada's Colin Kaepernick. However, the team might not want to use a pick in the first three rounds on a player like Kaepernick.

Troy Smith isn't with the Ravens
He’s a 49er. He started 6 games for them last year, y’know.
John Beck is with the Redskins. He was traded a year ago.
The actual QBs on their roster are Joe Flacco and Hunter Cantwell, with Bulger a FA.

Huh?
I thought Troy Smith played for the 49ers and John Beck played for the Redskins….am I missing something??
"I don’t understand why so many actually do believe in [Fitz]. Because he had a surprising season, threw a handful of TD’s and was better than the previous pile of manure the Bills put in at QB? That’s not good enough" - K
no, you're not.
I had to do a double-take to make sure the post wasn’t dated 2010.

lol
Aaron Curry was a bust the moment he took the field.
It's Chris Clemons' fault that he's teammates with Kelly Jennings, Lawyer Milloy, Marcus Trufant, Aaron Curry, and Lofa Tatupu.

Harbaugh saw this sort of thing done with the Eagles
you draft a QB late then develop him so some idiot team overpays for them, just like they did with AJ Feeley and will do with Kevin Klob
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
Flacco sucks? man you most have not seen his stats this year he had a high quarterback
rating and the only quarter in afc higher then his was Tom Brady
He sure does. Marc Bulger should have been starting the whole season you know…

why?
are the Ravens hoping in a few years, a QB can overtake Flacco? like Rodgers..?
mmmmm.... delicious
Did Clayton play mong enough?
Or better yet, what’s the condition that must be met in terms of playing time or roster time for the pick to actually change hands. On TST I asked this and believed everyone when they said it was roster time and it wasn’t met. Anyone know what the actual threshhold was?

long not mong
I’m sure he didn’t play mong enough. I doubt he even knows what mong is.
