Eagles

Reid doesn’t draft LBs in the first round, or really early in the rounds for the most part. So…they chances of Martez going to the Eagles in the first round is….well none. And I’m not sure if Mike Pouncey drops that far in the 2nd round.

With all that being said, I wouldn’t mind this draft if it were to somehow magically happen.

I think I'm underdrafting Pouncey in my mocks,

but I really don’t like him. I see him as a third-rounder at best. I guess my personal opinion of him is making its way too far into my mock drafts.

If the Giants ended up with Harris and Jones I'd be good, ecstatic even

but then I look at the Eagles picks….Martez Wilson- if he’s a first round talent to them, he’s a first round talent to us (since both teams equally hate LBs).

Also Mike Pouncey has no business being that low. And if those teams in between 20 and 51 pass on him, I don’t think the Giants would at 52.

Haha

I was looking at this draft after I finished and ended up swapping Martez Wilson and Brandon Harris with each other. If you guys think they should be swapped back I can easily do that. I swapped them because I was second-guessing myself for having Wilson as high as 19.

Wilson I see as a late riser

he wasn’t talked about much even tho he was as good as any LB (included Ayers), I think its just since no one really expected him to declare for the draft.

And yes, you’re underrating Pouncey too. His snapping “issue” was basically nonexistent after he made a switch in his snapping motion anyway. And of course if he’s actually an OG, dude’s a Triple OG.

Either is fine

Giants fans have less of a clue this year than last year. Both Wilson and Harris are good picks. Jones too. But I would want Pouncey there in the 2nd. We’ve done well teaching people to play center.

Bengals

1 Realistic and I personally pick

2 Realistic , I can’ argue this pick, the buzz is that the Bengals may look into 2nd or 3rd QB.

Hopefully my picture doesn't show my bias.

by C Byers on Feb 17, 2011 6:36 PM EST reply actions

Yea

This is a good draft for us. Would like to wait for a QB in the 3rd, but I can’t argue grabbing a top talent like Locker in round 2

Falcons drafted DT

In the first round of 2009 and in the third round of 2010 (we didn’t have a second that year). Couple Jerry and Peters with Babineaux, we are very strong three deep at DT. No way we spend another really early pick on a DT.

Sam Acho has a lot of support over at the Falcoholic

And really, since we have a 4-3, penetrating DTs are what we want. We are constantly trying to improve the pass rush, especially with Abe getting older every game. Basically, since you went offense in the first (not an bad pick, just probably not the most likely pick considering Baldwin was a junior and he has a slight past of off-field issues), we need an upgrade in at RDE to replace Abe, or at least play a bit on the left side until Abe retires.

He switched between his freshman and sophomore years. I’m a Clemson fan, so it’s not easy to stay impartial, but Bowers is a friggin’ monster from what I’ve seen.

Agreed about Bowers though. The panthers have some good young DEs on the team. I think Fairly will be the pick, even though I think he is the third best player in the draft.

Absolutely ideal for the Bengals.

I love Fairley in the first. Definitely the right pick if he’s there. Locker in the second would be a great value pick and in the WCO under Gruden he’d be an absolutely perfect fit with his mobility.

Logic behind my picks...

1. I think that’s just too high for Wilson, but I wouldn’t be crushed with a Wilson pick. I think Aldon Smith is a better football player than Wilson though. That’s definitely a reach for Ponder, IMO. Harris or Clayborn I could definitely see, probably Clayborn more than Harris. I’m not a Kerrigan fan, and I hope Gene Smith isn’t enough of one to pick him at 16.

2. I don’t mind Greg Jones, but if we don’t get a quarterback in the first, the talent drops WAY off. Kaepernick is one of the few, if any, guys left that have the potential to be an NFL starter long-term. I LOVE his tools. I’d be happy with a Wisniewski pick there. Not sure what I think of Dowling; he seems like an inconsistent player from what I can find. Not a fan of early WR picks, and Hankerson is no exception. He seems like a Sims-Walker clone…why not just keep Sims-Walker, then?

but with McClendon apparently expected to start they probably aren’t dying to add anyone else.

Of course if a G was BPA they’d jump on it imo.

I think so also.

I think he has one more year at least though. My feeling is they want to move McClendon to C if he can make that transition. I think they first want to see him at G though first. I think we should go two OL in this draft but besides OT I just feel it will or should be later though like you said if Value is greatest at G they probably go with it earlier.

Hey on a different note Im unsure on who has sent you there BPA cause some had only sent it to me and I told them to send it to you. If you need me to ill send you mine probably anyway I guess cause we just got a chargers rep maybe.

because of McClendon (though I didn’t mention him) I don’t see them doing so unless its for even more depth later in the draft.

I'll help you with the Eagles

Andy is sometimes surprising with the picks but one thing is for sure

1. Andy will not draft a LB in the first. Of all the LBs on the roster (currently now as in not going to be free agents), 1 was drafted above round 4 and that was Stewart Bradley. Ernie was a first rounder, but a 5th was traded for him. Chaney and Fokou were both 7th rounders, Gaither and Clayton were 4th rounders, and Akeem Jordan was UDFA. That should show you our philosophy.

2. Andy loves drafting defensive lineman. Of all the defensive players Reid has drafted in his tenure in the first round (6), 5 have been either a DL or DE.

3. Andy also loves trading out of the 1st round (did it in both 2007 and 2008)

4. Andy puts a lot of faith into the players he grooms through his coaches

5. Honestly, don’t expect to have a clue what he is going to do because Andy is more random than a black man showing up at a gay klu klux klan meeting with Hispanic participants along the Canadian borderline.

Giants

Needs: OLB, OL, CB, RB in that order.

But the Giants will probably never draft a LB in the first round. If Ayers is there they might but I doubt it. Our GM doesn’t invest much first round picks into the offense but this year he may go OL with the aging line. Smith and Solder seem to be Giant type picks with upside and athleticism. CB is also a solid bet to be drafted in the first round.

We have absolutely no need for a DE. The logical thing to do is give JPP more snaps. Now that I’ve said that don’t be surprised when they draft another DE.

World Series attitude, champagne bottle life, nothing every changes so tonight is like tomorrow night.

Lions.

You’re fairly solid on the first rounder, and while the idea of picking up a WR is in line with our needs, there’s much better value to be gotten in later rounds. I would think Det would pursue someone like Carter, Herzlich, or Matthews in the second as opposed to Titus, but I can understand why you wouldn’t project any of those three in the second. Going off what you do have going shortly after Titus, I could see Greg Jones or Hudson being pursued before Titus.

For the need that we have at WR, there is much better value to be gotten in later rounds considering who we pick up this year probably won’t start full time.

I was trying to guess where I THINK they’ll go. The Bills have been notoriously awful drafters since I can remember, so I figured they’d make the mistake of taking Newton here. Could see him going to any number of teams though. Backup pick was Marcell Dareus.

Fairley at 4

almost makes up for the horrible Locker at 35. Almost. Probably just me- and I can’t really argue the need for a QB but I’d take Colin Kaepernick every day and twice on Sunday over Locker. God, I hate that guy. Others I’d prefer in the second over Locker- per your board:

DeAndre McDaniel
Rodney Hudson
Mike Pouncey
Danny Watkins
Nate Solder
Rahim Moore
Titus Young
Marcus Cannon

Did I mention how much I loathe Locker? That he’s the bastard child of Jake Plummer and Jay Cutler, with both of their flaws in aggregate?

Actually it does

The big reason the Steelers wanted Maurkice so bad was because of his work ethic and study habits. I would be really surprised if the two were completely different in this area.

Also, as I have said before on here, the most underrated aspect of an OL is cohesion. When players play together for long stints they get comfortable and play better. A perfect example would be the Steelers OL that started to play really well down the last stretch of the season. Anyway, what better cohesion could you ask for them two players who, minus one year, have played together their entire life?

On many boards Pouncey is ranked in the top 3, if not #1, Guard in the draft. Maybe he wasn’t so good at C and his flexibility is not that of his brothers, but the Steelers already have his brother as a C. You are about the only mock draft I have seen with him falling that deep into the second.

Hankerson fits the bill as a guy who should be one the Chiefs radar. And to be honest, OT is the most logical choice in the first for the Chiefs. I doubt they go 3-4 OLB with the high bust rate that position carries so Pioli would go for the safe bet at OT. Now, as far as which OT, that is a big question.

As long as the Chiefs grab a NT in the third round, this draft would work.

Cardinals

while I definitely agree that the Cards need more than just one OLB, to reach for Reed when there are some much more interesting players available is not a good call.

Solder, Pouncey, Kaepernick, Rudolph, Burton, Watkins would interest me a lot more.

Same.

We can do much better in later rounds, considering Titus probably wouldn’t even start fulltime in 2011.
