If Ayers and Wilson

are at 21 and 20, I want the Giants to draft them.
Also, I doubt Fairley falls to 8

mmmmm.... delicious

Ayers

is falling with his poor combine performance, this is where I’m expecting to go, somewhere around here.

what..?

If they’re are chosen immediately after the Giants pick, I’d much rather have them

I don't think Ayers falls too far

He plays faster on tape than he ran. Scouts do not just ignore players’ speed on tape.

Thank you…someone who actually gets it. Now please start slapping all the people who suddenly have Wilson going in the middle of the first round.

Much rather have Wilson then Tyron Smith.

Actually I’d rather forefit the pick then pick Tyron Smith.

I seriously do not understand why you would hate Tyron Smith so much

I understand if he’s not your first choice, but he’s easily a first-rounder. Honestly I doubt he makes it to the Giants’ pick.

DANNY WATKINS!?!?!?

Are you kidding me? With Kerrigan, Taylor, and Williams on the board? Has to be the worst Jets pick I’ve seen so far.

Kerrigan

will go higher

Kerrigan had a good combine, correct?

Not to mention the fact that a lot of teams are looking for DE in the first round…

Especially the Bucs. I don’t think LB Wilson gets taken over DE Kerrigan. The Bucs LB corps is not that bad compared to how poor the D-line still is.

The 2010 Bucs: Considering their two-minute offense works wonders... Why can't EVERY offensive drive be run like that during the other 58 minutes of the damn game?!

by witty on Mar 1, 2011 10:57 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah he had a really good combine

came in at 6’3 267. Which is right around Dwight Freeney’s size. I know some look to him as an OLB in a 34, but I watched him for the last 3 years. He does his best work rushing the QB with a hand in the ground.
Purdue tried him out in special roles as a LB type last season, and he did not look to reat at it, but that could be just from lack of experience.
I personly can’t wait to see what he can do when he is not getting doubled and trippled teamed for most of the game like last year due to not having any one else that was a threat to rush the passer.

I think Denver will take Fairley at #2 if Carolina passes on him.

My vote would be to move back 5-6 spots and draft whoever is left of: Fairley, Bowers, Dareus, Peterson, Amukamara, or Von Miller. I’ll even throw in Robert Quinn.

With Julio Jones running a 4.39 at the combine, he is going to go to Cincy or Cleveland and AJ Green going to the other.

Steelers top need is CB. Super Bowl loss proved it.

the Steelers had a good season because teams tried to run it against them. But the Packers came out and threw the ball about, what, 50 times before they even made their 10th rushing attempt? The Steelers may have the best hair in the league for their secondary, but they don’t have a shut-down corner like they should.

by witty on Mar 1, 2011 10:59 AM EST up reply actions

Ike Taylor can shut players out, it’s just that their #2 and #3 absolutely cannot play cover defense. That is why I am hoping the Steelers double dip at CB with Harris and Dowling

Wrong

Everyone just screwed running and decide to throw. Only 333 runs were attempted against us. You guys had 444 and Buffalo was last with 571. The difference was the Packers WR corp is the best in the NFL.

only a serious problem against the top QB's in the league

Brees, Brady, Rodgers picked the secondary apart. Need to be able to beat these guys and put lesser teams away convincingly. It’s clearly the place on defense in need of upgrade. Track record drafting there is pretty poor unfortunately.

The only top CB to run faster was Peterson.

Still think he’s too slow?

I like Fairley better

As a Giants fan, I'm fine with it. As the others have said, ayers and wilson are fine too

Cam Newton to the Redskins

is still solid altho I was disappointed in his Combine performance, I really thought he would be a better passer

by ENsDad27 on Feb 28, 2011 7:03 PM EST reply actions

I think Newton is still figuring out the footwork

He’s going to take some time to be ready to start (which may be difficult, given the likely possibility of an extended lockout).

Didn't even get to the Eagles

Saw Fairley fall to 8 and realized this one isn’t flying whatsoever.

Currently searching for a better signature.

How is DQB at No 1 unconventional?

That’s pretty much what every boneheaded scout thinks!

by jkp1516 on Feb 28, 2011 10:50 PM EST reply actions

Panthers may not need DE as much as they need DT and CB

I suppose it depends on the FA market, but the scouting I read on Carolina suggests they need CB first, DT second, QB third. There’s no value pick for QB (Gabbert may be good but not great), so it’s either CB or DT, especially since the talent boards have Peterson and Fairley at the top of the pool.

Love Julio Jones at 12.

If he isn’t there the Vikings probably trade back a few spots.

Do you think Rice will resign?

I know Rosenhaus said he would test the market, but he never ruled out Rice going back to Minny

Hopefully

But realistically he could very well be gone and we would have a very weak WR unit if he left.

by FSUViking on Mar 1, 2011 1:18 PM EST up reply actions

Just a couple things

I think Nick Fairley cemented himself as a top 5 pick. He showed up a bit light, but even then he showed some good power in those DL drills. I still value him ahead of Dareus.

I can’t possibly see Aaron Wilson as a top 20 pick. I think he’s a fringe first rounder at best

The one thing Torrey Smith has had going for him is his elite speed, and he didn’t show it. If he ran a 4.4, I could see him as a top 20, but after this weekend I don’t see him as a top 20. Also didn’t show good route running ability.

I don’t think Ayers fits the 3-4. Every LB in that scheme has to be able to take on blocks, and he doesn’t do that well. He does have some pass rush potential ofr the OLB spot, but not enough for the Chiefs to take him that high.

Good draft overall, I just like to nitpick picks
