Bears could be position to take cornerback in 2011 NFL Draft
The Chicago Bears are in a circumstance unique for them this year. They actually have draft picks in the first two rounds.
In 2010 and 2009, the Bears haven't had a pick before the third round. In 2010, their first choice was Florida safety Major Wright. In 2009, it was defensive lineman/pool jumper Jarron Gilbert.
Currently, they're slated to have picks 29, 62 and 93 in the first three rounds. At least one of those picks should address the team's need at cornerback.
Chicago finished 2010 with a below-average pass defense. Its best cornerback, Charles Tillman is 30 and starting to show his age. Opposite Tillman is a crapshoot.
The Bears use a Cover-2 philosophy in the secondary, so the 29th pick may not be a cornerback. Instead, the Bears could use their second round pick on a player like North Carolina's Kendric Burney.
After a good showing at the Senior Bowl, the late second is a good spot for Burney. His playing style would seamlessly transition to a cover-2 team as well.
Burney is a quick and instinctual cornerback, two traits needed in the cover-2 scheme. He's quick to find the ball and is a solid tackler. If he were drafted by the Bears, it wouldn't be a shock to see him push past Zack Bowman and Tim Jennings on the depth chart.

Well, if they want to go CB with that 29th pick...
they might want to look at Jimmy Smith or Aaron Williams. If they wait to use their 2nd pick, they could look at Johnny Patrick or Brandon Burton. Sooooo many scenarios…it’s hurts your brain just to think about all of them.

Success is not given to those who know what to do......unless they do it.
If the Bears draft a CB in the 1st
instead of an offensive lineman, I’ll lead the revolt to Halas Hall

Prepare to be disappointed.
The Bears front office is run by idiots, idiots who have a hard on for defense.
Aaron Curry was a bust the moment he took the field.
It's Chris Clemons' fault that he's teammates with Kelly Jennings, Lawyer Milloy, Marcus Trufant, Aaron Curry, and Lofa Tatupu.

LBs are getting old, and they may be trying to get rid of Tommy Harris
not out of the question for them to go defense, if they dont like the Oline still available.
they need Oline, but can’t afford to force things and solely draft for need, when they have not had a first the last two years
If the O-Lineman on their board are gone
I could see them either trading down or going D, but OL is such a huge need that will be their pick.

lol pool jumper
burney’s stock skyrocketed with the senior bowl… before he was 4th round material methinks
Kendric Burney
I remember watching him in the Senior Bowl, and he looks like the real deal as a Zone CB. Not sure about him at man to man because I only saw 1 game. From what I saw in that 1 game though, I was impressed. I just hope the Vikings and Bears don’t draft him.
