Ravens

I know many of us would really love Titus Young if he is there in round 2. We need some speed and youth at WR and the Ravens have came out saying they plan on finding Flacco a young WR to grow with.

To be honest, I hated how this mock turned out for Baltimore. That’s a lameass thing to say because I’m the one who controlled the whole thing. I dunno, I just think there’s a lot of solid depth at wide receiver in the third and fourth rounds this year.

Dont worry, you’re not the only one who hates how this mock turned out for the Ravens.

Aaron Williams and Pernell McPhee would be a horrible first 2 rounds.

Broncos

Have to say I think Denver really need to make the most of the strength of this D line class and the second pressing need is at LB. They are really short at both positions and with a number of front 7 guys left there on this board then I hope they would not be taking 2 DBs in the 2nd round.
I know Denver need to improve Safety but really not a fan of this years Safety class and would prefer not to see Denver draft any Safeties until later on, if at all.

Got to agree with you...

we should be taking Ayers and Austin in this draft. Would be great to have Doom, Dareus, Austin, and Ayers on the DL. Then have Ayers, Mays, and DJ for LBers.

There are some great S’s in FA’s, when ever that starts up, that we can get. Roman Harper would be my #1 guy, and the fact that he played with our new DC would only help us get him.

I have to say I felt really good about the Rahim Moore pick. I considered Allen Bailey with the second second rounder.

by Dan Kadar on Mar 16, 2011 9:34 AM EDT up reply actions

Moore just reminds me of McBath, I would like to see the 2nd round picks on players who really improve the defense and feel that Wilkerson, Austin and Nevis are not only better players but also will significantly improve the team. Also think that could apply to Bruce Carter and Mason Foster at LB who I feel could be real upgrades.

I would be intrigued by Bailey if he was picked up in the 3rd

I can't rag on the pick..

I like Baldwin.. and know Our OC was just at Pitt’s pro day watching him.
I Just question when will the Bengals be able to address
OL DL and Safety.

I think I can sorta mock this out in my head…
Considering who’s left on the board and the needs.
Safety, OL then DL should be addressed in that order.

1st round draft wishes.
Bengals: Blaine Gabbert, Nick Fairley or AJ Green!
Cavaliers: Kyrie Irving and Harrison Barnes!

by C Byers on Mar 16, 2011 4:43 AM EDT reply actions

Now, if we'd just drafted a wide receiver in the first

we’d have a whole extra round to solidify the OL, DL, and Safety needs. Plus, we wouldn’t be saddled with Gabbert…shudder. ;)

by IgnatiusJReilly on Mar 16, 2011 8:21 AM EDT up reply actions

That’s much better than being saddled with Dan LeFevour as your starting quarterback.

I like Sturdivant

just not sure what sort of athlete he really is since he hasn’t really done anything this offseason yet. Not sure if I’d call that a reach there since I dunno if it is, but it kinda seems like reaching for a need.

I’d kinda expect Quan to slip to the third but in the end it doesn’t matter if he plays well I guess.

Colts

Hate it, I hate to put my neck out but there’s simply no way this pick happens. Austin’s background simply does not say ‘Colt’ and I think you’ve been incredibly lazy by just looking at positional need only.

yeah, Colts put too much stock in character and production to take a guy that missed the whole 2010 season on suspention

Quinton Carter would be great in that spot.

Jaguars

Great mock.
Jordan – Solidify our starting D-Line…and give Lane and hart more time to develop.

Hankerson – Starting wideout, or starting wideout in time. A younger, and more durable Mike Sims-Walker…we will even feel the effect of him not being re-signed.

limited value

I like Dalton, but it is more important how he throws with 22 guys on the field in full pads than with 2 guys in shorts.

Very few QB pro days aren't good

and QBs hyped to go in the late 1st-3rd often end up going much later than expected. Its hard to justify spending a high (1st-3rd round) pick on a guy that won’t start immediately and may never take the field.

by Greetings from the Lord Humongous! on Mar 16, 2011 3:40 PM EDT up reply actions

Cam Newton's wasn't exactly lights out.

And, I’d wager that at least 5 balls hit the ground in Gabbert’s Pro Day.

Dalton reinforced that he can make all the NFL throws, including the deep ball…throwing a few strikes over 50 yards. His 4 year production and intangibles are better than any QB in the draft, and I think too much is made of his size and arm strength. The limited value thing is a crock of shit. Philip Rivers and Drew Brees did just fine with a “lower” ceiling/“weak” arm.

Last, your memory is limited. Hyped QBs, as a general rule, go higher than they are graded.

by SuperHorn on Mar 16, 2011 4:36 PM EDT up reply actions

pro day = limited value, not Dalton

I think the bowl game vs. Wisconsin helped him a lot more.

Bears picks

No way Bears go defense in both rounds. Especially if Carimi is still on the board at 29.

I was thinking the same thing.

I was OK with Corey Liuget un round 1, because I can see Angelo doing that. there is no way they don’t come out of the first two rounds with an offensive lineman, and I would not be surprised if they came out with 2 offensive lineman and ignored other positions completely.

Ayers doesn't seem to fit for the Redskins

He is slow and has limited pass rushing experience. He doesn’t seem to be what the Redskins would be looking for in a complement to Orakpo.

KC

Brewer is a good tackle, but he isn’t project to go until the late 3rd at best. This would be a complete reach by KC

by TrueBlue87 on Mar 16, 2011 11:30 AM EDT reply actions

Not to mention...

I don’t think he’s really a fit in the zone blocking scheme.

Brewer surprised me at the combine

More athletic than I’ve ever seen him. I definitely think he’s rising, it all depends on the medical reports.

Miller in Rd 1, Ponder in 2 for Buffalo. Please sit in their war room on the 28th and 29th of April.

Pass on Ponder

Bills need to go defense this year. Miller in1st, Wilkerson in 2nd is a great start. Let Fitz take over for another year.

by Dustyfootball on Mar 16, 2011 3:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Bills need a stud TE. They have no one who can do everything expected of one, at least both all attributes not well. It would help the running game, and really help the passing game.

Solid pick for the Hawks

After QB (and OL), the biggest need is at DT. Nevis is a solid (if undersized) pick at an area of need.

by Greetings from the Lord Humongous! on Mar 16, 2011 1:05 PM EDT reply actions

Love the Titans picks. I can only pray that it turns out this well.

IMO, Dalton is the best QB in the draft (with possible exception to Mallett if he can keep his nose clean). Dalton presents tremendous value at 39.

by SuperHorn on Mar 16, 2011 1:54 PM EDT reply actions

I think Sturdivant

can probably be had in Round 3. His instincts are really good, but his lack of athleticism leaves a lot to be desired.

Bucs may not draft Guard depending on FA moves, especially if a LB leaves...

The need for defensive improvement is still there. The O-line performed well even with injuries. Unless the OG in question is a massive upgrade to the starter(s) we already have, I see the Second Round for the Bucs going with MLB.

The 2010 Bucs: Considering their two-minute offense works wonders... Why can't EVERY offensive drive be run like that during the other 58 minutes of the damn game?!

by witty on Mar 17, 2011 12:18 AM EDT reply actions

That’s a similar problem the Ravens have in drafting, is our 1st pick could be changed a lot depending on FA moves, but the only problem is teams may not know who they are re-signing because of the CBA.

by AV23 on Mar 17, 2011 2:16 AM EDT up reply actions

steelers

Wilson and Moffit would be a pretty poor way to start this draft for Pittsburgh

by tkired on Mar 17, 2011 3:55 AM EDT reply actions

Hmm

Not sure I like the Ponder pick. I’m not sold on him, regardless of how he’s measured out lately. I’m hopeful the Bills draft Kyle Rudolph at 34. The team needs a TE more than most people take the time to admit. This may not be the best year for them to grab a QB, and if they don’t take one in the first, then I take it to mean they don’t see him as their franchise guy.

I say wait until the 2012 draft, and hope they get Lucky.

No thank you to Ryan Williams.

I don’t know that he’s much of an upgrade over what we have. The running game is OK if we can get the OL straightened out.
