2011 NFL Draft Center Rankings: Kadar vs Dove

Pro days are over and workouts are wrapping up so it's time to finalize positional rankings. One of the most intriguing thing about the NFL Draft process is that each person values prospects differently. For NFL talent evaluators and draft analysts alike, the rankings at the top look similar, but opinions vary on mid-level players.

Here at Mocking the Draft we wanted to show you how our opinions differ.  Dan Kadar and Jon Dove are breaking down each position giving you their top 10 in each. Make sure to check out our scouting report page to get full reports on some of the prospects.  Also don't hesitate to leave some feedback about our rankings or maybe even your own.

The offensive line is an interesting position to evaluate because there are versatile players.  Each evaluator has a thought on where specific players may fit the best and this is shown in our rankings.  You will notice that I have Rodney Hudson ranked #1 and Dan doesn't have him ranked in his top 10.  This isn't because Dan doesn't feel Hudson is a good player it is because he rated him as a guard.  I personally feel that Hudson's future is at center and that is where I ranked him.

Star-divide

The center class is weak with little high end talent and limited depth.  We could see as little as 5 centers selected in the 2011 NFL draft.

Rank Dan Kadar's Ranking Jon Dove's Rankings
1 Stefen Wisniewski Rodney Hudson
2 Kristofer O'Dowd Stefen Wisniewski
3 Brandon Fusco Brandon Fusco
4 Tim Barnes Zane Taylor
5 Chase Beeler Kristofer O'Dowd
6 Zane Taylor Ryan Pugh
7 Ryan Pugh Tim Barnes
8 Jake Kirkpatrick Jake Kirkpatrick
9 Ryan Bartholomew Ryan Bartholomew
10 Colin Baxter Chase Beeler

So

where would you rank Pouncey in your list if he was to play Center in the NFL?

I see him more as a guard but he would be my #1 center in this class as well. It just isnt a class full of high level talent

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Did you actually watch him play center this year at Florida? God this guy benefits more from his brother. Pouncey is a horrible center and isnt close to being as good as his brother. There is a reason why his brother left for the draft last year and he didnt. Hype has put the lesser Pouncey brother into the 1st day of the draft

I probably know Judo! How many of you can make the same boast?

His brother pretty much had two years at center

Mike only played one. And it’s not really a huge deal. The difference between OG than can play center and a center that play guard isnt enough of a difference to justify dropping a guy a whole round especially considering the guy played one year of center in a spread o. If he turns out to be a probowl OG then no one cares that he doesnt play center like his brother. Just he being able to backup the position is value

I’d have him second. I like Wisniewski a lot.

To both of you

it will be interesting to see if the Giants take Pouncey 19th assuming he is still available.

It is not the Giants way to trade up and get him at 13 if the Cowboys trade down with the Rams.

Do you think Wisniewski will be available when the Giants pick in the second if they miss out on Pouncey?

Where would you rank John Moffitt?

He spent time at the Senior Bowl at center. It’s a possibililty that a few teams envision him playing that position in the NFL.

Why is Jake Kirkpatrick so low for you guys?

He was the Rimington trophy winner for best C. He’s pretty athletic for his size, and is widely known as the smartest C in the draft.

The only real knock on him is his strength at the POA isn’t the greatest, but that’s easily fixable with a few lessons with the strength and conditioning coach.

Idk, for me, he’s the 2nd best C prospect behind Wiz.

Final Dream Draft

1) Akeem Ayers, OLB
2) Marvin Austin, DT
3) Jake Kirkpatrick, OC
4) Chimdi Chekwa, CB
6) Henry Hynoski, FB
6) Jarriel King, OT
6) Josh Bynes, ILB
7) Ricardo Lockette, KR/PR
