NFL Draft successes and busts 10-year evaluation: 4th overall bust
Over the next couple weeks, we'll evaluate the best and worst top 10 picks in a 10-year span from 1999-2008. We capped this at 2008 because it's unfair to judge first- or second-year players. Today, the pick four bust
Pick: Four overall
The player: Mike Williams | Offensive tackle | Buffalo (2002)
There have been a few pretty bad No. 4 picks in our 10-year window.
The Jets blew it with Dewayne Robertson, though he at least had 45 starts in his first three years.
Peter Warrick was a two-time All-American and left Florida State with the team record for receiving touchdowns. For the Bengals, he was mostly a disaster, but had a solid year in 2003.
The mountainous Mike Williams was a complete bomb with Buffalo. At the University of Texas, Williams was an almost mythical creature. At 6-foot-6 and who the hell knows how many pounds, Williams was a bulldozer of a left tackle. He was listed at 340, but rarely looked an ounce under 375. Still, he was agile, which led just about everyone to believe he could handle blind side duties.
He couldn't. Williams never had a start at the position for the Bills. Instead, he played four years on the right side. The Bills even tried him at guard to no avail. Heck, they even stuck him at defensive tackle on goal line positions.
He was out of Buffalo before the 2006 season and out of the NFL the next year. Williams mounted a comeback in 2009 playing right guard for the Redskins. Blood clots found near his heart forced Williams to sit out the 2010 season after receiving a two-year contract from Washington. He insists he'll make another comeback. For the Bills, he's arguably the team's biggest bust in the past two decades.

Yep. This lump of a football player got paid, ate the whole menu, and then the dessert cart.

What about Cedric Benson?
And next year we can add Aaron Curry too.
Aaron Curry was a bust the moment he took the field.
