Ray Dominguez 2011 NFL Draft Prospect Notes
The 2011 NFL Draft is right around the corner and the staff at Mocking the Draft is working hard to bring you the most in depth information possible. We have spent countless hours reviewing college games in an attempt to produce scouting reports for each of the prospects. However, time is running out so we decided to release some scouting notes in order to cover a wider range of prospects.
After the jump you can check out the notes taken in order to come up with this final analysis. Be sure to check out our full scouting reports HERE. Also give us some feedback on whether or not these notes provide useful information.
Ray Dominguez
6'4, 334 pounds | Guard | Arkansas
Final Word: Dominguez is going to need to make a position change and move inside to guard. He has good size and surprising quickness and the move to guard would mask his limited ability in space. His ability to get his hands up quickly and into the defender is what teams look for in a guard. There are some concerns about his overall strength as he struggle to generate a great push off the line. He also doesn't appear to have great awareness as he often ended up past the play blocking nobody. Dominguez has a good strong lower half and the ability to anchor after contact. The physical abilities are present for Dominguez to develop into a solid NFL guard.

Notes:
- Excellent size and bulk with a think lower half
- Good natural bend with the size and strength to anchor after contact
- For his size, Dominguez has surprising agility and balance
- He also has some quickness to his game with the ability to mirror rushers in tight areas
- Dominguez will need to make the move to guard as he will struggle to reach the edge against speed rushers
- He doesn't possess great change of direction ability and can be caught flat footed at times
- Dominguez does a nice job keeping his pad level low with a natural bend
- When he fires off the ball, Dominguez quickly gets his hands up and inside the defender
- He has good explosion and is able to quickly go from stance to set
- There is a lot of balance to Dominguez's game as he is able to take short steps and maintain leverage
- In pass protection, he does a nice job getting his hands out in front and avoiding wasted motions
- There were too many running plays where Dominguez was blocking no one which speaks to his awareness
- Dominguez is not a real nasty player and doesn't look to finish plays
- He doesn't really generate a great push off the line
