NFL Draft successes and busts 10-year evaluation: 2nd overall bust
This week we're evaluating the best and worst top 10 picks in a 10-year span from 1999-2008. We capped this at 2008 because it's unfair to judge first- or second-year players. Today, the pick two bust.
Pick: Two overall
The player: Charles Rogers | Wide receiver | Detroit Lions (2003)
Charles Rogers, how sad. He was the next Randy Moss but stronger. He was Andre Johnson before Andre Johnson. At Michigan State, Rogers was dominant. It's rare that a wide receiver is dominant. But just about every time Rogers was on the field, he was best player in the game.
He was worth the second overall pick in 2003. Once he turned pro, nothing good ever seemed to happen for Rogers. His career was riddled by laziness, injuries and substance abuse. He was out of the NFL by the time he was 25. Charles Rogers. How sad.

The hype for Rogers seems to be repeated about every year. Is A Green a future bust? So many think he is the second coming of Calvin Johnson. Hard to live up to the hype machine.

Wow your right
2010- Demaryius Thomas (1st WR taken injured for most of the year)
Dez Bryant already ****** his career with off the field issues
2009- Darrius Heyward-Bey can safely be labeled a bust in just 2 years (who didnt see this coming though) Kenny Britt is trying his hardest to ruin his life
2008- Now Wr’s taken in the 1st but 10 were taken in the 2nd round (Desean Jackson is the only one worth noting) Of course the 1st WR taken busts (Donnie Avery)
2007- Success! The 1st WR taken is a stud in Calvin Johnson and then my home team decides to draft Ted Ginn and his family over Patrick Willis and Darrelle REvis (2 massive needs at the time!!) F*** F*** F***
2006- Santonio Holmes was drafted and was the SuperBowl MVP and subsequently broke the law and forced the Steelers into a trade. (apparently rape isnt as big a deal as disorderly conduct and marijuana possession)
2005- Haha and then we have the best draft for attaining a WR that will get you fired.(Braylon Edwards, Troy Williamson, Mike Williams,Matt Jones, Mark Clayton) Its fitting the last WR taken in the round was the best in Roddy White. Oddly enough he had the BIGGEST character concerns coming out
I probably know Judo! How many of you can make the same boast?

Good examples, except
I wouldn’t label Donny Avery as a bust yet. He had a good rookie season, hit sophomore slump in ’09 and was injured last year. So I think he deserves the last chance this year, before being labelled as a bust
