Kansas City Chiefs add more (questionable) talent with Allen Bailey
Boom or bust could be the definitive cliche for the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2011 NFL Draft.
The team has certainly added talent in wide receiver Jon Baldwin, guard/center Rodney Hudson, linebacker Justin Houston and defensive lineman Allen Bailey. However, other than Hudson, each player comes with plenty of questions about work ethic.
Each has a chance to be stellar. But if Baldwin, Houston and Bailey fail, they're going to fail hard. They're all athletic marvels. As a draft analyst, they make nerds like me drool. But CBS NFL Draft analyst Chad Reuter referred to the picks perfectly.
"The Chiefs are picking like the Bengals right now," Reuter said on Twitter.
Bailey in particular is a good scheme fit in the Chiefs' 3-4. At Miami, he played end and tackle, but was much better inside. A majority, if not all, of his career sacks came from the tackle spot. So playing in a 3-4 like Kansas City uses will suit him well. The question about Bailey is that he doesn't always play hard. Bailey has first-round talent but late-round ethic at times. That's what landed him in the third round.

So outside of NT...
What else is a dire need for KC? Sure they could draft a RT, but your not going to find a player better then Barry Richardson now. That was a 1st/2nd round pick only if they were going to do that. There are going to be plenty of quality NT’s in the 4th round. Ellis was the only guy that was on the NT wish list. Guys like Powe, Williams, etc. are still there.
So KC took the BPA when it came to defense with Bailey. He might just be a jack of all trades type for KC. So what was expected by Reuter and you Mr. Kader at this pick??? The main needs were WR, OLB, C and NT…. WR, OLB and C have been taken cared off now. NT is likely in the 4th round.
So why not take a pick here that could be a huge reward???

Bailey
How about a Von Miller / Orakpo type move? SILB on running downs, DE on passing downs?
"Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun."
at 286?
way too big. Plus, many scouts say his best tape comes when he rushes as a DT, so I guess the 5 tech is the best fit for him, but still he’s just an athlete with no position, IMO
If you reply to a comment/post/fanshot of mine, I will more likely then not respond to it, unless you come off like a d-bag.
With Dorsey and Jackson he has no place
He’s athletic. Drop 15 lbs. and play ILB
"Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun."
Not going to happen
Although I’m not sure why you say he has no place with Jackson there. It’s not like TJ has done anything impressive enough to lock down a starting job. Shaun Smith is far better, and Gilberry is more effective, especially on passing downs. Bailey could push.

Would of prefered Ellis.
That would of completed every need they had besides RT and as mentioned by the 4th round i would probably just stick with Barry Richardson.
Ellis is the one with major concerns
And is actually facing trial

Bailey is good though.
would really like to him and Gilberry on the field for passing downs. Add them with Hali and Houston getting after the QB. Could be scary.
Cheifs D appears to be built on speed in every level
getting Bailey makes sense cuz he’s very fast.
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
I despise the Baldwin pick

Your sig is funny...
…considering he hasn’t signed so technically isn’t a Chief yet. And the fact that he’s never played a down in the NFL. AND the fact that Johnson was a probowler for the Chiefs before he decided to implode.
He was a toolbag before he was drafted, and despite being a pro-bowler, was a toolbag then as well
I don’t root for douches like that, even if they are Chiefs.

And if you're going on technicality, that's beyond pedantic
So Shaun Smith’s not a Chief?

I think the Chiefs rung the Bell with another solid draft
some concerns sure. Did we draft Mallett, not a fricken chance
