2012 NFL Draft top 100 rankings
The 2011 NFL Draft was heavy on the defensive line. For next year, it's a weak spot. Right now, the 2012 NFL Draft looks strong at the offensive skill positions and middle linebacker.
Of course a lot can and will change, even between now and the start of the college football season. One thing that probably won't change is Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck being the top-rated player. The rest of the class is wide open. Let me know what you think in the comments or leave a Fanpost with your rankings.

Should be a real good year for college ball
I mean, it always is of course, but lot of high profile QBs, WRs and should be interesting to see RIchardson with the full starting position there in Bama.
THe UNC DE tandem are worth the price of admission alone too. I hope no BS ruins another potentially great season from that team, there’s still a lot of talent there (that defensive line will give opposing QBs diarrhea for weeks).
Justin Blackmon and Alshon Jeffrey should be a joy to watch too.
And back to the QB class…this coming season is the real "year of the QB’, not the year of the fake ass QB that this one was. Nick Foles might have gone #1 overall this year for chrissakes….

agreed
Insane year for QBs, and I seriously have no idea how UNC keeps collecting such talent. Butch Davis is ridiculous, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
LBzez, of course, will probably highlight the draft class (though less than the QBzez). Here’s to another year of the Giants picking up an LB in the first. Hopefully we play our way out of position for Burfict or Monti Te’o.
Don’t think we need an MLB, Jones/Goff should be serviceable…though the one LB I really really like from the draft class is Tank Carder. Dude is the prototypical T2 LB in every sense of the word.

this year's LBzer class is insane
I don’t think Reese would be able to not do a BPA + need type thing thing. I mean Dan’s got Te’o at #18, but if he enters the draft he’d only be #18 simply cuz this class is so talented. He’s a top 10 caliber player.
Burifict is giving me an erection already, but Zach Brown and Kuechly are also incredible. Not even expecting Te’o to enter the draft tho
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
I think next year is for the offensive side of the ball.
But I can see us getting someone like Travis Lewis in the later rounds(2nd or beyond) tho.
Wish list:
1. Cameron Jordan
2. Muhammad Wilkerson
3. Bruce Carter
4. Casey Matthews
5. Anyone the Giants want
considering that there's so many LBzez, they're not that high positional value wise
….at least the 4-3 ones….a couple of the elite LBzez (Burfict, Teo, Hightower, Kuerchly, Carder, Brown or Upshaw) will fall to us in the 2nd, regardless if its 33rd or 64th.

I am fairly certain that teams would have re-watched his (re: Foles) melt downs in both is bowl games and not have taken him #1 this year. Won’t be surprised if he ends up in the “2nd tier” of QBs next draft season.

you know Cam Newton went #1 overall this year right?
Blaine Gabbart went #10?
Foles isn’t great by any means, but he’s better then those 2 chumps.
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
Cam went #1? I thought the draft was this weekend, am I late? ;)
Even if Foles was in the draft, Panthers were taking Cam. When Foles goes through the draft microscope and 3 months of deconstruction of his game, I seriously doubt he would have been considered for the #1 overall pick and he may not even be a first rounder next year. The unathletic, spread QB that can’t win the big games usually don’t end up being taken high in the draft.

I watched two full Arizona games this year
Bored out of my mind. Army has a more interesting passing offense. Foles has a good arm; they used it to throw WR screens to the wide side of the field.

They’re in the next group, actually. Want to see more, especially out of Randall.

Ok, cool. I'll be very interested to see where in the second 100.
Randall is going to have a big senior year. I look for him to be a second/third round guy.

I'm interested to see whether Luck will be the "can't-miss" prospect people were saying he is.
It’s not completely unreasonable to think he could have a Locker-like fall before the 2012 draft (Locker’s actual draft position notwithstanding.) If he’s the consensus #1 going into the next draft that proves a lot about him as a prospect.

Lavonte David
Dan, where do you see David projecting to the NFL has? Is he strictly a Will in a 4-3, or do you think he’ll be able to bulk up and allow a little more versatility? He was a monster for us last year, and can’t wait to see what he does this year with an improved D-line and healthy linebackers surrounding him.
A new Husker fan?
I’m not alone! Are you going to join Corn Nation?
Oh, and +1 to your question. I was going to ask that.

Bleed red indeed.
Just now getting into SBNation blogs. Have known/followed Kadar for quite a few years through another site, I figured I might as well join the community here. But yeah, I’ll have to check out Corn Nation.
I joined SBN late last summer.
This place is awesome.
It will be nice to have some back-up now as far as spreading the word abut our guys. There won’t be nearly as many drafted next year as this year it looks like unfortunately. How many seniors do we have? Crick, Dennard, David, Marcel Jones, and Kinnie are the only rotation guys that come to mind. We have a shot at 2 first rounders though. Go Big Red!
BTW, what NFL team do you follow?
Go Suns, Packers, Jays, and Huskers!
Green Bay Packers: Super Bowl XLV Champions!!!!
Caputo is one that I can think off the top of my head, but we don’t have many. Most of our talent is in our juniors, so it’ll be interesting to see if anybody leaves early.
I’m a Chiefs fan, but was glad to see the Packers win last year, mainly cause BJ Raji is one of my favorite players.
by RediculousAM on May 5, 2011 11:57 PM EDT up reply actions

I actually did remember Caputo. I’m not sure why I didn’t include him there. Yoshi Hardrick is a senior as well, isn’t he? I’m not sure how much he’ll play though with him and Sirles both at that LT spot. Tyler Legate at FB is a Sr.
As for guys leaving, hmm… I can’t really think of anyone now. Most of our guys seem to be solid contributors, but not guys that would leave early. LBs are solid, Meredith and Steinkuhler are good but I don’t see them leaving. Safeties are just decent. Nobody at WR. Rex isn’t leaving early. No pro prospects at QB. I don’t see any OL leaving. Ben Cotton isn’t going anywhere. I think Kyler Reed might be the only junior that would consider leaving. Maybe I’m wrong, but it looks like a lot of our NFL talent lies with the recruits from these last 2 classes. Either way, the future is bright.
Go Suns, Packers, Jays, and Huskers!
Green Bay Packers: Super Bowl XLV Champions!!!!
Georges!
To me, until I see differently, he’s a 4-3 Will. I think if he gets too much bigger it will negate what makes him good.
Mocking the Draft: Talking NFL Draft all year.
That's what I thought.
He’s so quick and is able to slip past the line to get into the backfield. I heard he actually was bulking up a little bit, but I don’t think they are going to change his playing weight too much. Just trying to build up strength.
I heard safety some last year, but I don’t like that for him at all. For one, while he was improving in coverage later in the year that is far from his greatest strength. And two, that brings him farther away from the ball. David’s strength is being able to get to the ball wherever it is on the field.
Go Suns, Packers, Jays, and Huskers!

this class is pretty strong actually
Carimi and Castanzo, the best ones this season would’ve been 2nd rounders in the 2012 draft at best.

Does that speak more to the strength of the upcoming class,
or the weakness of this last one?

I've gotta be an advocate for a couple of Georgia guys not on the list.
OL Cordy Glenn should be in the top 100. Will play LT at UGA this year but probably projects as a RT or G in the NFL. We will see how he handles the blind side this season. He’s got great size at 6-5, 320 and is a physical blocker.
DE/DT Deangelo Tyson is a guy that a lot of Georgia fans are excited about. He played out of position last year at NT, but with the addition of Jenkins and the emergence of Geathers, Tyson will slide over to DE in the 3-4. He should project as a DE in the 3-4, DT in a 4-3, but I think he will have a special season and will rise on your board. At 6’2, 290 he might be a little shorter than what some teams would look for a DE in the first two rounds, but he could definitely find a home in rounds 3 or 4.
TE Orson Charles (Jr.) will probably be the most solid playmaker in Georgia’s passing game, but his size (6-3, 240) is probably not ideal for an NFL TE. However, he has great hands and can make plays when he gets the ball in open space.
You have Boykin at 51, which is probably fair at this point.
Early prediction:
At least one team that took a QB in the top three rounds will draft one next year.

Another Aggie to consider adding to your big board:
DE Tony Jerrod-Eddie. He doesn’t get many sacks, but he’s a great 5-technique.
Welcome to Houston, J.J. Watt, Brooks Reed, Brandon Harris, Rashad Carmichael, Shiloh Keo, T.J. Yates, Derek Newton, and Cheta Ozougwu!
i don't want to hate on case keenum
but he might want to give up his career – it’ll be really hard for a team to buy in on him when he can’t even get through college
Doesn’t have the speed. Sad to say, it holds him back as a prospect.
Mocking the Draft: Talking NFL Draft all year.
He's not that slow (between 4.45 and 4.5 40). Not any slower than, say, Mark Ingram.
And I would argue that his vision and ability to break tackles more than makes up for it. I don’t know a place that has all the stats but his yards after contact are just ridiculous.
Can't wait to see Te'o again
seriously, this guy is the only reason why ND won any games last year. He seemingly had an impact on every play, and if he didn’t make the tackle he at least helped someone else make it. If he continues to improve he could be a top 10 pick
If you reply to a comment/post/fanshot of mine, I will more likely then not respond to it, unless you come off like a d-bag.
Surprised to see Ta'amu on the list.
Didn’t know he was actually thought of as a legit NFL prospect.
Love him. A four-year starter who is a 330-pound NT? I think this year’s draft showed guys like that are coveted.
Mocking the Draft: Talking NFL Draft all year.
Jeffery and Blackmon will both be beasts
Those two players make a nice top two WR prospect duo. I think Blackmon will be better then Dez Bryant is and Alshon Jeffery has Randy Moss measurables that teams love. Unfortunately, after those two guys the WR talent drops off significantly in my opinion.

I think Xavier Rhodes from Florida State will be one of the top 100 players, and possibly one of the top corners pending his health
