Rock out with your mock draft out: Sideline Scouting
Sideline Scouting is one of the handful of NFL Draft sites worth checking out. The site provides smart, year-round analysis, something we try to do here at MtD.
So it's worth noting that SS relaunched last week in preparation for 2012 NFL Draft coverage. The site features a great new layout that doesn't force the reader to scroll down to get a lot of information.
Also new is wire content on the NCAA and NFL, which is pretty nice. The site also added Draft Metrics writer Anthony Villoti and a new scouting report format. It's all good stuff and worth checking out.
In addition, the site put up a new 2012 mock draft. Check it out here and some notes about it after the jump.
An interesting note on this mock is Seattle having the second overall pick. That will be an interesting dilemma for head coach Pete Carroll. Presumably the team would need a quarterback if they're drafting that high. Does Carroll go with Oklahoma's Landry Jones or personal favorite Matt Barkley of USC? Sideline Scouting goes with Barkley, which I tend to agree on.
In this scenario, Jones slips al the way to Oakland at pick No. 10. I would have likely had Buffalo taking Jones at pick nine. If Buffalo picks in the top 10 again in 2012, it's hard to see them passing on a quarterback.
One surprise first round entrant is Alabama defensive tackle Kerry Murphy. The defensive tackle's future at Alabama is somewhat in question due to a knee injury. According to the SB Nation Alabama site Roll Bama Roll, Murphy may even get a medical redshirt this season.
Overall, though, it's a pretty good mock. Check out Sideline Scouting here and let me know what you think of the site in the comments.

The site is pretty cool.
I like seeing Allen and McNeill on their best UDFA list. They have LaVonte David as an ILB. Do you agree with that?
Go Suns, Packers, Jays, and Huskers!

Nope. I think we’ve discussed this. I see David strictly as a weak-side OLB.

Yeah, I think we have.
It’s just the first time I’ve seen that. I’ve seen safety, but not ILB.

I dont necessarily agree with the Jaguars pick
Our two biggest holes on the team are by far LB and S. We’re most likely going to get Weddle or another top FA S and grab a stopgap LB or two in FA. We need to get more athletic and just all around more skilled at LB and they have four going from 11-14. I think Kuechly would have been a better pick, but I do like seeing football talk thats not lockout related.
Don't see Indy going for Floyd
they are probably pissed at Hughes for picking up a public intox last night, not sure they’ll go for someone with repeated and more severe legal issues with alcohol.
Choke/Clutch is the fetishization of the small sample size.

Interesting that Hightower was the first MLB taken. I liked him for the Ravens and a lot of mocks had him going late 1st to early 2nd. IMO Bufict is the best MLB in the draft, but I guess some teams who need one could pass on him because of the perceived character concerns.

an you give your honest opinion of where you think Worthy will be drafted? I know he’s talented, but do you buy the top 5? A whole season can obviously cement that, but where do you think Worthy will be valued by the 2012 draft? I ask this because if he’s not top 5 value and they draft there, Xanders/Fox/Elway won’t draft him
If you reply to a comment/post/fanshot of mine, I will more likely then not respond to it, unless you come off like a d-bag.
No, not top five. I like him quite a bit, but not even that much. His size may scare some teams in the top 10 off. he ma be more of a top 15 player.

Good looks as always Dan
I was thinking a similar area.

Crap
I knew I forgot someone in my recent mock (Luke Kuechly). Oh well.
I hate to pick apart a mock for details this early, but honestly what are the chances 4 LB’s going in a row (11-14) and then 3 CB’s later (17-19). I realize sometimes positions go in bunches but like that?
Also, I know Kirkpatrick isn’t a sure fire top CB yet, but unless he shows zero improvement I think he’ll be better then the 4th overall CB. Definitly the first I’ve seen Kerry Murphy in the first, but Nick Saban can prepare D talent for the draft, that’s for sure.
There are other things I question, but overall nothing too ridiculous and no less likely then any other mocks made 9 months prior to the draft

If Saban has a Dlineman drafted in the first round that is on a medical scholarship, that would be impressive. I am assuming somebody forgot to do a little homework?
