John Brantley Looks to Rebuild Draft Stock
Entering last season, John Brantley faced a ton of pressure as he was charged with the task of replacing the beloved Tim Tebow. This was a ton of pressure because he not only had to replace the on the field production but also the hole left in the fan's hearts. The problem is that Brantley is not Time Tebow and his skills didn't fit well with Florida's playing style.
Due to Urban Meyer's resignation, Brantley has been given another opportunity to cash in on his tremendous talent. The coaching changes at Florida allows Brantley to learn under offensive guru Charlie Weis. With the addition of Weis comes a pro style offense more conducive to Brantley's skills. Expect to see more snaps under center, play action, and less designed quarterback runs.
Brantley possesses a good strong arm with a quick throwing motion. His balance in the pocket helps him deliver a catchable football. However, his struggles last season did not go unnoticed and he needs to show major improvement in order to be considered a draftable player. He needs to improve on his 9 touchdown and 10 interception season by showing he can make plays while taking care of the football.
Basically, Brantley has a rare opportunity to have a do over and try to rebuild his once promising career. I will be keeping a close eye on his production throughout the season and trying to determine if he is a legitimate NFL prospect.

I still think he should have transferred

I wouldn't be surprised if he's a borderline first round pick this year
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
Hot recruit out of HS.
This year should show his NFL potential. As the article mentioned he is set up well with coaching. It is his chance.
Year two is upon us.

Brantley On the Clock
This guy cannot get any worse. Due to his small stature and disappointing jr. season , he probably isn’t on many teams’ radar, but great success this season might get him on a Pro Practice Squad, or taken in the late 5th or 6th round, especially if he gets that BCS Championship Ring. Can you believe that, Gator Nation? Florida Gators , “the most despised team in College Football”

Unfortunately
I think that term belongs to Auburn now.

He was never an elite prospect
Just because you are a highly touted high school recruit doesn’t mean you are highly touted NFL prospect. He was always inconsistent, and had a lot of work to do, and honestly Charlie Weiss hasn’t exactly developed promising college quarterbacks. Both Brady Quinn and Jimmy Clausen are massive busts and both had their limitations hidden in Weiss’ scheme.
Brantley is a 4th – 6th round prospect regardless of what happens this year.
too early to tell on Clausen. He’s only had a year behind a terrible line and with mediocre receivers. Brantley certainly had a rough year last year, but he looked solid in mop up duty in the past and was lights out in practices. I think he has a chance to do great things this year if UF’s offensive line gels and they can find some receivers who can catch the ball. Last year was not his faulty considering the terrible play calling and the piss poor work by the receivers.
