Kyle Padron and Ryan Tannehill, NFL Draft's most intriguing QBs, on display tonight

The two most intriguing quarterback prospects in the 2012 NFL Draft will share a field tonight when SMU plays Texas A&M (7:30 p.m., Sports).

As the college football season approached, SMU junior quarterback Kyle Padron started to receive some positive press as a draft prospect.

Padron obviously has nice size at 6-foot-4 and 233 pounds. He's also regarded as having a strong arm and a quick release. Still, though, he's playing in the blueprint of gimmick offenses for Junes Jones' SMU squad. So when watching Padron, pay attention to the kind of throws he's making and if they're NFL caliber.

His opposite today is Texas A&M senior Ryan Tannehill, another hotly hyped quarterback. Wes Bunting of National Football Post and NFL Draft Scout rate Tannehill as the top senior quarterback in the nation. For me, six starts at quarterback is too little of a sample size to go that far.

Tannehill did show in those six starts, though, that he has good mechanics, a nice arm and will benefit from playing in a pro-style offense. Still, lets see it a little more before going overboard on the hype.

One Aggie who has shown plenty is wide receiver Jeff Fuller. He gets lost in the shuffle among the best wide receivers in the nation, but he can be he has the skills to be just as good as Michael Floyd of Notre Dame or Justin Blackmon of Oklahoma State. Fuller is an incredibly physical receiver with great body control to high point the ball. He may not have the best straight-line speed, but he knows how to get open.

Texas A&M running back Cyrus Gray does have the speed. With the ball in his hands, Gray is a dangerous runner. He just doesn't have the body to be an every down running back at the next level. He's a little more electric version of Oregon's LaMichael James.

Texas A&M also features one of the best senior cornerbacks in the nation with Coryell Judie. Against the SMU passing offense tonight, he'll get a lot of chances to show he can read routes and make a play on the ball. He had 4 interceptions as a junior.
