Lamar Miller looks like latest top Miami RB prospect
It wasn't a breakthrough game like Baylor's Robert Griffin III had, but Miami running back Lamar Miller looked like a future NFL Draft star Monday night against Maryland.
Running for 119 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries, Miller has the look of being the next great Miami running back prospect. Between 2002 and 2005, Miami sent Clinton Portis, Willis McGahee and Frank Gore to the NFL.
After a lull of several years, Miller looks like the next in line. Like his predecessors at Miami, Miller is a deceptively powerful runner. He showed he could get low and power through tacklers and has good acceleration through the hole.
Maryland running back Davin Meggett had a nice night running the ball 21 times for 92 yards. He got many of his yards by working his blockers and not simply inflating his stats with one big run. Meggett showed good patience all night scooting through a hole or breaking to the outside.
Meggett got in trouble a couple times by being too patient allowing the defense to get penetration. He'd try to beat them to the outside, but had a few negative plays doing so.
