Panthers

I’d prefer Kirk or Brockers

by rscott94 on Jan 16, 2012 4:43 PM EST via mobile reply actions   1 recs

I would say the chance of the Panthers taking Still

is about 1.5%. Rivera has said that he is comfortable with the DTs we have and Still isnt good enough to go that high. Kirkpatrick is the pick

Browns

I would be down with the first pick- I might rather see Jeffery at #22 if we go WR there. My thinking is that we might opt for Mike Adams or Cordy Glenn and try to fill WR in free agency, but I would be alright with WR at #22 as well.

I like Jeffery more than Floyd because Floyd is a headcase, from what I’ve heard.

by shep615 on Jan 16, 2012 4:46 PM EST reply actions

There are quality WR’s & OL in the FA market, & Clevelands got plenty of cash. I would prefer to maximize our #4 pick and trade out but who knows, maybe we do take RGIII. I think that after Indy fired the coach too, that they are gonna trade Manning for a bunch of players/picks & trade out of the Luck pick for another bunch of picks /players. If I was Washington and was gonna throw away an entire draft, I’d rather have Luck than RGIII.

If Floyd was still there at 21, I doubt the Bengals would pass on him.

Hell, I’m not sure we would pass on him at 17.

You think they will use another 1st rounder on a wideout for the second year in a row? That would be interesting.

by shep615 on Jan 16, 2012 4:51 PM EST up reply actions

We could really use a #2 receiver, and if one with Floyd's talent fell it might be hard for them to pass on him.

I mean, it’s possible that Mike Brown wouldn’t be okay with having two star receivers because he won’t want to pay them both when they hit their primes, but still. Green was really the only receiver capable of threatening the defense at all last year. If not in the draft, most Bengals fans would like the team to pick up a #2 wideout in FA.

I don’t know what the Bengals needs are, but if I’m in your front office on draft day then I would rather use the first rounder on a different position and pick up a WR in round 2. There should be some good talent left at WR in the 2nd.

by shep615 on Jan 16, 2012 5:31 PM EST up reply actions

The other needs are CB, RB and OG (not necessarily in that order.)

So his picks were fine. I’m just saying Floyd would be tough to pass on there.

And safety...

For the love of Thor, we need a safety.

Bills

CB is a position of need, as we’re not deep at all there, but the bigger position of need is, by far, pass rush. We generated absolutely no pressure on the QB this year, which lead to the QB having all day to throw, exposing our CB’s, leading to the other team scoring early and often, leading to us having to play catchup and abandoning the run game too early.

i agree

but if kirkpatrick falls to us i think it will be to much talent to pass up on.

Definitely. Right now no OLB/DE has stood out as a legitimate top 10 player. If Kirkpatrick is still on the board when Buffalo drafts, they’d be silly to reach on someone like Coples or Upshaw when they is top 10 talent available at a position of need.

by J_Mac on Jan 16, 2012 6:57 PM EST up reply actions

Disagree. First off Buffalo is so thin at pass rusher they will overdraft before they select a corner. Second, Leodis McMuffin was supposed to be a sure thing (no way he was getting past NE apparently) and he has been a huge bust. IF both Coples and Upshaw are off the board I’d understand this pick but in this case no way

I’ve never seen him play, but I like his scouting report. This is the first time I’m back at MTD since last April. Yikes! I’m a little behind on the college prospects…

I have to disagree, our line may be bad, and Adams would be fine, he could take over the RT position, but I don’t see the need for the other two.

We'll all agree here

Read our previous comments. Check out our recent draft history. The Giants draft athletes for the athlete positions. In the last 10 years, we have drafted at least two players at DE, WR, and CB in the first four rounds 7 times. Two of those other years we drafted one, the other year was Eli Manning.

We draft big and fast athletes. One OL max in the first 4 rounds. No small linebackers. Look at our defense. Kiwanuka is the largest SAM in the NFL. Kenny Phillips is 6-2 215. JPP is a freak. Canty is 6-7. Our top four CBs are 6-0 and taller.

2012 mock (Manningham resigns) - 1: Janoris Jenkins CB / Chase Minnifield CB, 2: Kevin Zeitler LG / Ben Jones C-LG / Cordy Glenn LG-RT, 3: Keenan Robinson SAM, 4: Neiko Thorpe FS, 5: Vic Ballard RB / Brandon Bolden RB

(Manningham lost) - 1: Marvin McNutt WR, 2: Kevin Zeitler LG / Ben Jones C-LG / Cordy Glenn LG-RT, 3: Keith Tandy CB, 4: Neiko Thorpe FS, 5: Vic Ballard RB / Brandon Bolden RB

by ct17 on Jan 17, 2012 12:08 AM EST up reply actions

yea.

we do not draft for need, or what not.
we draft whoever is the most athletic and put them in a position to make plays.
we throw the need factor in their.
but if its coming between say 2 guys. and one is higher ranked on most boards. and the other has better pottential but is more of a raw athlete.
we take the raw athelete and teach him teh game.
not many teams have the coaching staff 2 do that

vikings

will probably trade down to either the dolphins, skins, or possibly the seahawks so one of them could grab griffen, and then take the best available lineman. Corner is more of a FA solution for them

by statue_left on Jan 16, 2012 6:11 PM EST via iPhone app reply actions

Totally agree we'd be trading down once Kalil is taken

And RGIII is still on the board and major trade bait.I could see us taking Martin or possibly Reiff in that scenario. But overall I like ths draft, we have so many holes to fill thatwhoever we take with our 1st pick; Kalil, Martin, Claiborne, or Blackmon is going to be filling a need and a major upgrade to the position. Once you get out of the top three LT’s it’s a big drop off so I think we trade down and take one of them and not wait til the 2nd round. You did take care of needs all the way through with this draft though.

Not a Dolphins Fan but I question why RB for the 1st?

They drafted Daniel Thomas last year, and they had traded for Reggie Bush. Thomas seemed to be able to produce and Reggie had a career year. I dont believe RB is a 1st round need for them.

Cardinals

I would eventually be able to get behind the DeCastro pick. Nothing flashy, but it solidifies LG for many years to come. Top 3 tackles are gone to, so that eliminates them. I would look to see them grab Upshaw @ 13 possibly. Overall great athlete and would be a great addition with Acho and D-Wash in our LB core

While WR’s might be a need on the chargers they have much bigger needs to address in the first round. I think they’d look to get a pass rusher or o-linemen with their first pick.

Need for CB, OLB, S higher than need for OT

We’d even have more reason to take WR Blackmon if he slipped to us instead of getting a Tackle.

Because traditionally you draft LOTs first, and LOT Donald Penn is not that bad. He’s not pro-bowl, but he’s solid. ROT is the real problem, as well as Center, but those can be resolved later in the draft.

You don't have the panthers taking a CB?

Rivera has indicated that he thinks that the current group of DTs are good (he may be blowing smoke) but I doubt we take two. Guard isn’t really the most pressing need in the second either.

Bucs draft is miserable

1. Too high for a right tackle
2. Hightower as a 4-3 lb?
3. SS is an ok position to pick, but this player is a reach here
5. RB is a good pick, but I would have done it earlier
6. Another safety?

And, you do realize we need about 3 cornerbacks, right?

Bills

I didn’t have a huge problem Kirkpatrick, but the rest of their draft, I do not like. Seriously a tight end in the third, and another cb and a safety in the fourth? Their secondary is a strength, it could be improved, but 3 of their first 5 picks is excessive for a unit that has 3 of 4 starters set. Unless they go big in free agency, there needs to be a WR in there somwhere. As far as the 2nd round, players like Toon, Tannehill, and Curry are available, I like them all better then Branch. However, god knows, the Bills have rarely done what I thought they would in the draft, so who knows.
