Ranking the 2012 Draft Prospects by Position - Quarterbacks
Well know I am focusing on the NFL Draft and today I am going to start releasing my second edition of player rankings for the draft. These rankings will be updated one more time after the NFL Combine. Today we will look at the QB position.
1. Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford – Luck is the clear #1 player in the Draft this year and will be the #1 pick come April. He has great potential to be a star and will be a very good QB in the NFL.
2. Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor – Griffin is a perfect fit for the West Coast offense due to his phenomenal accuracy. I see him as the perfect fit for the Cleveland Browns at #4 or the Washington Redskins at #6.
3. Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M – Tannehill has tons of potential but had a poor season this year. However, due to the over-valuing of the QB position, he is a borderline 1st round pick.
4. Nick Foles, QB, Arizona – Foles had a decent season and with Barkley and Jones returning to school, he could end up being a first round pick. I think he is much better value in the 2nd round and with his upside, he is best served backing up an experienced QB for a couple years.
5. Kirk Cousins, QB, Michigan State – Cousins has phenomenal accuracy and is a very smart player. He has an NFL arm and can make NFL reads. He will need some development but he should be a solid starter for a team. I see the Seahawks or Cardinals possibly nabbing him in round 2 or round 3.
After the jump, see the rest of my QB rankings.
6. Brandon Weeden, QB, Oklahoma State
7. Brock Osweiler, QB, Arizona State
8. Russell Wilson, QB, Wisconsin
9. Case Keenum, QB, Houston
10. Kellen Moore, QB, Boise State
11. Austin Davis, QB, Southern Mississippi
12. Ryan Lindley, QB, San Diego State
13. Chandler Harnish, QB, Northern Illinois
14. Dominique Davis, QB, East Carolina

Who are some interesting high measurable guys that will late for whatever reason?
I’m a Bucs fan, and we need a backup. I could see us taking a project late in the draft.

This QB class looks a whole lot weaker with Barkley and Jones returning to school.
With Luck, Griffin, Barkley and Jones at the top it would be good. Now it’s just meh.

This is a great class
WIth those guys, one of the best ever. Still might be the best of the last 10 years.
2012 mock (Manningham resigns) - 1: Janoris Jenkins CB / Chase Minnifield CB, 2: Kevin Zeitler LG / Ben Jones C-LG / Cordy Glenn LG-RT, 3: Keenan Robinson SAM, 4: Neiko Thorpe FS, 5: Vic Ballard RB / Brandon Bolden RB
(Manningham lost) - 1: Marvin McNutt WR, 2: Kevin Zeitler LG / Ben Jones C-LG / Cordy Glenn LG-RT, 3: Keith Tandy CB, 4: Neiko Thorpe FS, 5: Vic Ballard RB / Brandon Bolden RB
Late round backups
I would love to see the Bengals pick up one of these guys as a backup in the late rounds. Weeden and Moore would be great pickups.

Cousins...
accuracy, smart, NFL arm, can make reads. Sounds pretty damn good. What are the weaknesses that push him down that far?
Couple things I've seen...
Gets a little antsy when the pocket starts collapsing which hurts his decision making, accuracy, and power; tunnel visions his receivers from time to time, spacing out on zone defenders that can jump the ball and grab the pick. Needs to be smarter about checking down more consistently.
He’s really coachable, but he’s a project. His arm could get a little stronger, too.
"You've got to respect your opponent, no matter who it is. You respect him best by going out there and beating him up." - Calvin Johnson
I like his arm strength
I think his problem, compared to the other guys, is that he played in a simpler passing offense for a team that wanted to run the ball.

It wouldn’t totally shock me, but I believe it was Mike Mayock who said about some QB prospect a few years ago that if that player became a starter at QB, he’d be the only one under 6’ tall in the league. I’m pretty sure that Russell Wilson is under 6’.

Coleman or Thomas?
What about BJ Coleman who is tearing up the Senior Bowl or Darron Thomas of Oregon that just declared? Where do you see them going or think they should be ranked?
