Bucs

I like Richardson even though #5 is really early for him, but no way I’d take him over Claiborne in any circumstance.

by aakks on Jan 17, 2012 12:13 PM EST reply actions

That appears to be the opinion between at least two Bucs fans. Claiborne probably has better value anyways, which is typically how the Bucs draft, so that is the more likely scenario (taking Mo).

by AdRoK on Jan 17, 2012 12:59 PM EST up reply actions

i think they take Claiborne too, The Redskins...

however will NOT be taking a Middle Linebacker. Unless London Fletcher leaves in Free Agency

My thoughts are like London Fletcher on the field: Everywhere. Oh, and Fear the Turtle!

I love where the Giants are picking, not a fan of the actual pick though.

We have too many DTs as is. I would LOVE Cordy Glenn.

I support the Giants like bras support Kim Kardashian's boobs. It can be a struggle, we've had some jiggles, but we're still firm.

by BigBlueIntervention on Jan 17, 2012 12:15 PM EST reply actions

I like Cox. pause, because he is the type of hybrid lineman that the Giants look for. Big Blue though has one more year of Osi, and Canty costs a lot of money. The guard pick isn’t a bad one but the Giants haven’t drafted a OL in the 1st round since Luke Pettigout in 1999 and they always seem to be mocked to take one.

by AdRoK on Jan 17, 2012 1:29 PM EST up reply actions

haha I like Cox as well (another pause)

Canty might be expensive, but we probably get rid of David Diehl (who costs more and is much worse of a player than Canty) which is why I opined that we might get a Guard.

If you go DL, we don’t need DT even without Canty because we have Linval Joseph, Rocky Bernard, Marvin Austin, and Jimmy Kennedy. We probably keep Canty and go with those five as is.

I’d rather go DE as hilarious as it sounds. I think everybody knows Osi is gone after this year, probably traded. I just noticed that you don’t have Whitney Mercilus mocked to a team either. He’d be an awesome fit for us as a rotational DE if Osi leaves. The Giants like to overload on strengths, and replenish those strengths every time. We do a good job rushing the passer, so having JPP, Tuck, Kiwi, and Mercilus would be a little ridiculous as well.

by BigBlueIntervention on Jan 17, 2012 1:50 PM EST up reply actions

Maybe picking up Mercilus would make me feel better about not getting Kevin Hardy or Simeon Rice :)
I think Cox will prove in the combine that he’s capable of playing end and getting at the QB. Also, he can probably help the team in run defense at the position. He really is the kind of athletic freak they love adding to that line.

ps I’m not saying he’ll be back next year or that he isn’t too expensive but give the man some credit because David Diehl is the starting LT for the Giants right now.

by AdRoK on Jan 17, 2012 2:18 PM EST up reply actions

He deserves all the credit in the world...but at LG he was a swinging gate, and Beatty is better than him at LT

and he’s owed something like $8 million. Out of sentimentality, I love the dude…he’s been up there with Seubert and O’Hara as one of my favorite Giants. Unfortunately, sentimentality does little for you in this business.

by BigBlueIntervention on Jan 17, 2012 8:11 PM EST up reply actions

McKenzie's contract is gone

Diehl will stay one more year. He and Osi are gone in 2013, maybe Jacobs as well. I think Rolle is gone before Canty if they need money.

No more DTs

2012 mock (Manningham resigns) - 1: Janoris Jenkins CB / Chase Minnifield CB, 2: Kevin Zeitler LG / Ben Jones C-LG / Cordy Glenn LG-RT, 3: Keenan Robinson SAM, 4: Neiko Thorpe FS, 5: Vic Ballard RB / Brandon Bolden RB

(Manningham lost) - 1: Marvin McNutt WR, 2: Kevin Zeitler LG / Ben Jones C-LG / Cordy Glenn LG-RT, 3: Keith Tandy CB, 4: Neiko Thorpe FS, 5: Vic Ballard RB / Brandon Bolden RB

Kirkpatrick for the Bengals at 17 is awesome...

But David Wilson is a MAJOR reach at 21. I honestly think there’s a chance he falls to our second rounder.

I don’t want to argue who the better player is but the Bucs were 30th in the league in rushing this season. It might not be their biggest need but it’s right up there.

by AdRoK on Jan 17, 2012 12:55 PM EST up reply actions

That's largely because Olson wouldn't give Blount carries

Down by 3? ABANDON THE RUN!!! Not down? Give Lumpkin his carries!

Our real RB need is a 3rd down back. Think LaMichael James in the third. I love Richardson and him and Blount would be a great 1-2 punch, but not anywhere near #5. Maybe if Claiborne is gone and we trade down.

by aakks on Jan 17, 2012 1:24 PM EST up reply actions

The Bucs taking Richardson when the have Ronde Barber possibly about to retire would not be wise

Blount is their #1 RB & they need a change of pace RB. That can be found later. CB is a bigger need than RB

Kalil and maybe even Claiborne are two guys in my mind that are better prospects than T-Rich. To be very honest, T-Rich is quite overrated in my opinion, and I am thinking he will not have as much success in the NFL as most people expect.

Titans would more likely take Konz or Barron with the way this draft falls.

FS Griffin and SS Hope are going to be gone. CB Finnigen is likely ot be resigned and even if he isnt we have 2 good young CB behind him, Jason McCourty (Better than he brother) and ATV. So CB isnt a real need, rather take the top C or the Top S.

Dwight Jones or Nick Toon are the more likely pick for the Texans

What the Texans do is let Andre Johnson get double teamed :) To each his own I guess. I do like Jones though because he played in UNC’s prostyle offense. Not that Nick Toon would be a bad choice either.

by AdRoK on Jan 17, 2012 1:12 PM EST up reply actions

Regardless, if Kubiak wanted a speed demon at WR, Trindon Holliday would have seen the field already

Kubiak needs WRs that are big, strong, has good hands, run good routes, & most importantly can block downfield in the running game. Dwight Jones & Nick Toon fit that description. Also I can’t see Wright eventually becoming a #1 WR in Kubiak’s offense either.

The issue with Toon is his foot

I’ve watched him alot at Wisc, he’d be a great #2 and and decent #1 at the next level in my opinion, but he’s had reoccuring foot problems that could cause him to miss a game here and there if it continues.

A Texan WR needs to be able to block in the run game, and we almost never go deep. So a deep threat of WR is pointless in the Texans Offense.

I don't see the Skins drafting an ILB in the early rounds this year

I expect London Fletcher to be resigned and Perry Riley is developing nicely at the other ILB spot. Keyaron Fox is a serviceable backup to both positions. ILB is going to wait at least another year. I’d really almost be surprised if we drafted a corner early this year too, since we signed Wilson in FA last offseason and have a good bit of money invested in D Hall.

by CarverM on Jan 17, 2012 4:45 PM EST up reply actions

This is the early I've seen him in any mock. What can I say? I'm a believer.

This isn’t a sexy pick for the Skins but man this guy can play football. 532 tackles in 3 years! Kuechly could potentially replace Fletch with similar numbers for cheaper and longer… I’m not sure why the Skins should wait until next year. Aren’t you sick of waiting until next year?

by AdRoK on Jan 17, 2012 11:20 PM EST up reply actions

Well yes, all of us Skins fans are

but that has nothing to do with the ILB position. We need help on offense in the worst possible way.

by CarverM on Jan 18, 2012 7:27 AM EST up reply actions

And we will resign Fletcher.

He means way more to this team than money. He is worth any contract.

Stop drafting DT's to the 49ers

Everybody. Just stop it. Our starters are solid and despite Justin’s age he’s not slowing down so the “get a guy to learn from the best theory” will have that 1st round pick sitting on the bench for 3 more years.

actually agree.

the 49ers have probably the best front 8 in the league.
a very scary team, they can stop the run and rush the passer.
fearsome D.
the 49ers should be drafting offense or DB

we also have a couple of guys who have been sitting on the bench for a while

They play well. As well as Justin Smith? Obviously no but they play well… Also I agree Justin isn’t slowing down he is speeding up and with Aldon Smith in the Smith tandem is just going to get more deadly…

Will do.

In my mock… Who would you have the 49ers take? Chase Minnifield CB? {alt. Jayron Hosely?} WR?

by AdRoK on Jan 17, 2012 11:24 PM EST up reply actions

Well if the Pats

Go for Devon Still first and then try for Barron we take Barron before their 2nd 1st round selection.

But if they go Barron first then I think we have to look at Martin if we think he’s a high second round guy (bottom of the first is already 2nd round talent), depending on how FA works out safety might be more pressing a need than CB — and our breakdowns in pass coverage this year have mostly been safety issues — not corner ones.

Or we could go right to the offensive line, where our team has major issues. Snyder is a backup swing tackle playing guard and can’t move anyone off the ball. Davis is a guard playing tackle and has been a revolving door most of the year to anyone who has any speed on the corner. The coaches seem to like Davis for some reason but Snyder’s merely average run blocking on a team that wants to run power football may be a reason to find a new starter.

Markell Martin?

It’s also likely that the Pats’ try to trade the pick and maybe look at a safety possibly early in the 2nd.

You really can’t go wrong taking an OL.

by AdRoK on Jan 19, 2012 11:29 AM EST up reply actions

You really can't

At least in our shoes.

There are just a couple complications that might make the decision tough. If Konz survives there’s no issue, we take him.

But he won’t be there. We could go with Glenn, but we also like to pull our guards quite often which may make a guy like Zeitler a better choice.

Realistically we won’t take a tackle. We should probably move Davis inside to guard and take a tackle, but the coaching staff seems to be very patient with him — after all, he’ll have 2 seasons experience and is younger than many of the rookies this year. For example he’s one month younger than Cordy Glenn.

Bills

If the Bills are serious about not switching back to a 4-3, I think Upshaw would be a better fit then Coples.

Marty Hurney stated he will be going Bpa at 9 instead

of trading up for Blackmond. The panthers defense sucks, Ron Rivers seems to like the current wr on the roster. He also seems to like the current Dt on the roster, probably blowing smoke though.

Browns

This draft is a 100% DUD!!!!!! Zero is the rating I give it. No way chance in hell do the browns give up 2 #1 picks to move up one spot.

As a Browns fan, let me just caution that one should never underestimate the possibility of the Browns making the “worst possible” move in the draft. That being said, I don’t see this as necessarily a crazy move by the Browns — if they believe in RG3 and believe there is a very good chance he can be a franchise QB, you give up what you have to give up to get him.

2 first round picks to move up 1 spot? over a team that doesnt need a QB?

and you’ll be in position to take the top WR, your biggest need. I could not fathom making a move like this

by pcroadrage on Jan 18, 2012 5:20 PM EST up reply actions

our first pick being WR depends on how our FA recruiting and signing went. I’m hoping to NOT have to need to take a WR so high. Would love to pick up both of the jacksons, and the guy from New orleans.

Lose…………….

No one ever heard of RGIII till this season, wasn’t on any radars. If I was to give up two #1 picks in a single draft it would be to take Andrew Luck. Plain and simple, RGIII is a way bigger crap shoot thean Cam Newton was. He isn’t worthy of the #4 pick.

Chiefs

We don’t need another OLB, we have Hali and Houston.

DeCastro is a much better pick, need to get more stout upfront for short yardage/goal situations.

two thumbs down for me

I have to admit that this was a terrible pick. Could Trent Richardson end in KC? The Chiefs could look to trade down if they’re just interested in interior OL.

by AdRoK on Jan 17, 2012 11:33 PM EST up reply actions

Chiefs could look to trade down, and likely will

I hope that Pioli does not look at a RB in the first. However what Berry showed us, and even Houston, was if the talent level if high enough he will take the player. There was a quote going around that safeties shouldn’t be taken that high, but Berry is an great talent and he scooped him up, Houston fell and we snatched him up in the 3rd last year. DeCastro fits that mold very well, one of the best prospects in a long time at a position of need.

Cardinals

While the Cardinals do need a #2 WR to start opposite of Fitz, I am under the impression they will be looking for more of a speed guy to stretch the field, and Floyd does not fit that profile. I would say more of a Kendall Wright kind of WR would fit the need better, but #13 is probably a little bit of a reach for him at this point. The way your draft fell, I would definitely either pick DeCastro to help out the horrible OL, or trade down and try to get the 2nd rounder we spent on Kolb back..

I get where you are coming from. A speed guy does make sense but for me all I want is a receiver who runs tight routs and/or is good enough to take advantage of another receiver being double teamed. The Cards are pretty desperate for some OL help.

Bills fan here.

Hell no to Coples. Also, Michael Brockers, in my opinion, probably won’t get out of the top 15 with his upside. Brockers to the Bills would be much better value.

I like Brockers

I have a feeling the next time I do a mock (after the combines) he is going to be a much higher pick. I can see the Panthers taking a stab at him. I have him falling because I’ve read questions about his ability to be a starter in his first season.

I know I would love Brockers unless we magically get a shot at RGIII. Even though we can use more pass rush, having it come from the interior is much better for us.

Kuechly at #6. Love the idea.

I like it too but I need to see the trades

You should put what the trades are in these mocks so people can get an idea of what you feel is adequate compensation

by MarkSP18 on Jan 19, 2012 3:12 AM EST up reply actions

yeah mabye i dunno

If I had done any more rounds than I obviously would have done more with the trade compensations but you never know what’s going to happen to those picks later in the draft. They could still be moved for other picks, players, or whatev…

Martin is ok but if Claiborne is falling..

he is the pick or they will trade someone the pick, either way he is going at number 7.

Carolina

There is NO WAY on GOD’s green earth we TRADE UP to get Blackmon. I love the skill set (for someone ELSE’S ball club) , but we just spent 3 picks to find 1 reciever less than 24 months ago. Of those 3, 2 finished in the top 5 (4th and 5th behind (TB) Mike Williams and Jordan Shipley) of all rookie recievers in 2010. Then last year we bought in the #20 WR from that same 2010 class (Seyi Ajyrotutu). So in short WR is not a need AT ALL. our biggest needs are CB, S, OL. So by those needs I would mock Kirkpatrick @ #9. But I will say I think we WILL trade, but NOT up, we move back some where around 15-21 range and pick up Jenoris Jenkins CB (FLA) or Barron S (Ala). So to help in future mocks you can go to CATSCRATCHREADER.COM to get the REAL PULSE OF THE PANTHERS!

Love it! Except....

Morris Claiborne won’t make it to #8. Kirkpatrick is a nice consolation prize though. Easy to see Jerry pulling the trigger on that trade if Claiborne is available. Too steep of a price for Kirkpatrick IMO. If Kirkpatrick makes it to 17 in your draft model then Dallas would probably be more inclined to just sit and wait for him to fall. Too bad Dallas has way too many needs to part ways with our 2nd round pick and potentially more.

Broncos

I’d love to see the Broncos take Miller in the first.

One criticism I have about this mock is that you have two MLBs going in the top 15. That probably won’t happen.

I’m not sure that Burfict is picked in the first round. He’s going to slide. In a league where the team who makes the fewest mistakes often wins, why would any team choose an idiot who makes tons of brainless mistakes in the first round?

Truth shall be known.
