Five Round Draft with Compensatory Picks & a couple of Trades

Star-divide

Round 1

  1. Indianapolis – Andrew Luck QB Stanford – Explanations are unnecessary, the Colts again take a once in a decade prospect to build a team around.
  2. St. Louis – Matt Kalil LT USC – The Rams take one of the best LT prospects in years who can protect their investment in Sam Bradford. Trading this pick to a team going after RGIII is also a real possibility but IMO Kalil is a much higher talent than any of the other LTs in this draft & the Rams go quality over quantity.
  3. Minnesota trade to Washington - Robert Griffin III Baylor - Redskins trade their 1st, 2nd & 2013 2nd to move up four spots & grab RGIII . RGIII is an elite talent who has tremendous upside, he is a highly accurate passer with elite mobility. He is still a raw prospect who will have a steep learning curve but could be a franchise QB.
  4. Cleveland – Justin Blackmon WR Ok. St. – Browns decide to go with the best receiver in this draft & not give up their 2nd rd. pick & get an elite playmaker who will start immediately. Great size, hands & body control.
  5. Tampa Bay – Morris Claiborne CB LSU – The Bucs get an elite player in Claiborne who starts immediately & continues to shut down half of the field.
  6. Washington trade to Minnesota – Riley Reiff LT Iowa – Vikes give Ponder some much needed protection by picking a very good LT who should be able to anchor their line for the next ten years.
  7. Jacksonville - Alshon Jeffery WR South Carolina – Jags grab a very good target for Gabbert. Jeffery is an extremely talented wide out who has suffered from inferior QBs.
  8. Miami trade to Cincinnati - Trent Richardson RB Alabama – Bengals trade Oaklands 1st, their own 2nd & 4th to move up nine spots & grab the last "elite" player in this draft. Richardson is a beast who has no flaws in his game. By getting an elite runner, Dalton is able to become an even better QB.
  9. Carolina - Dre Kirkpatrick CB Alabama – Kirkpatrick is a hard hitting CB who moved himself into top ten consideration with an excellent performance in the N.C. He is big, extremely talented & would immediately upgrade a defense that was disappointing last year.
  10. Buffalo – Courtney Upshaw OLB Alabama – The Bills get an extremely versatile player who can play either as an OLBer or as an ILBer. Upshaw can get after the passer, clog the middle or drop back into coverage.
  11. Kansas City – David DeCastro G Stanford – Best Guard in this draft
  12. Seattle – Quinton Coples UNC – An elite talent who under performed this season, his incredible athleticism keeps him the top half of the 1st rd.
  13. Arizona - Jonathon Martin LT Stanford – Cards give up on Levi Brown & draft an extremely hard working & talented prospect who should be able to step in & protect Kolb’s blindside
  14. Dallas – Nick Perry OLB USC – Cowboys add a threat on the other side from Ware to get after the QB.
  15. Philadelphia - Luke Kuechly ILB BC – Eagles get an elite player who has great instincts & intelligence. Kuechly is the type of player who IMO will make the entire defense better by his presence on the field.
  16. New York Jets – Melvin Ingram OLB South Carolina – Jets get an extremely athletic 3-4 OLBer who who can set the edge & really get after the QB. He will immediately upgrade their pass rush.
  17. Miami – Ryan Tannehill QB Texas A & M – Dolphins grab a talented & intelligent QB who will definitely need time to develop. Chad Hennes days in Miami are over & Moore is not quite the answer. Tannehill will quiet the fan base who hopefully will give him the time to become an NFL caliber QB.
  18. San Diego - Michael Floyd WR N.D. – I am not sure if VJax is back next year but either way I think that Floyd would be a good #1 or an excellent #2 & a great target for Rivers.
  19. Chicago – Cordy Glenn G Georgia – Bears pick up a huge protector for Cutler who will also open up holes for Forte
  20. Tennessee – Peter Konz C Wisconsin – Titans grab the best Center in this class to upgrade their offensive line.
  21. Cincinnati – Kendall Wright WR Baylor – If Bengals weren’t mad at me for trading away picks for Richardson then they probably will be for taking a WR when they drafted Green last year but I think that Wright makes a lot of sense for a couple of reasons. He is a completely different type of receiver compared to Green & could line up either in the slot or on the other side. I also think that with the type of talent & strength/toughness that Wright has, he will be hard to jam at the line & will take some of the pressure off of Green.
  22. Cleveland - from Atlanta – Zach Brown LB UNC – Browns get the best 4-3 LBer in this draft
  23. Detroit - Dwayne Allen TE Clemson - Big pass catching TEs are becoming much more highly valued than in past drafts. Vernon Davis, Fred Davis & Gronkenstein have proved to be mismatches for opposing CBs & LBers. Allen would add another dimension to Staffords game & takes some pressure off of Johnson.
  24. Pittsburgh – Dontari Poe NT Memphis – This was a tough pick for me & I doubt that Steeler fans like it. Poe should be a dominant NT with his size & 1st step but I am not so sure…
  25. Denver – Alfonzo Dennard CB Nebraska – The Broncos defense was very good but an upgrade at the corner would be a large improvement.
  26. Houston – Devon Still DT/NT PSU –Still might be a good fit in Wade Phillips 3-4, he is similar to Ratliff IMO but not to sure if he would be a good fit for their scheme
  27. New England - from New Orleans – Whitney Mercilus OLB/DE Illinois – Mercilus can get after the passer, something the Patriots struggled with during the regular season. I think that his versatility will appeal to Bill Belichek as they seem to switch between a 3-4 & a 4-3 D
  28. Green Bay – Jared Crick DE Nebraska – Packers get a very good DE who can set the edge or get after the passer
  29. San Francisco - Stephen Gilmore CB South Carolina – An under rated CB who would make a good defense even better. Good size for the position with average speed.
  30. Baltimore – Vontaze Burfict ILB Arizona St. – The endless search for Ray Lewis’s successor ends with an extremely talented player who finds the same competitive spirit he has in Baltimore
  31. . New. York Giants –Janoris Jenkins CB Northern Alabama – Some team will get a very good CB value in Jenkins who has dropped because of character concerns brought on by an over familiarity with a certain plant.
  32. New England – Nick Toon WR Wisconsin – Good size, speed & hands to give Brady a good target that’s not a TE.

· New Orleans -> New England: Mark Ingram

Jags

1)Jeffery is a sexy pick for the Jags given the need at WR, but the pick is just not good. He is not BAP at the selection. Too many questions in his game right now to be wroth the 7th pick. Kirkpatrick or Martin would be the better picks in my opinion [Personally I say Kirkpatrick]
2) Once again, not a very good pick. Zeitler is not a top of the second round talent, and contrary to what Jags fan might say, OG is not that big of a need, if it is even a need. Vinny Curry or one of the WRs (Dwight Jones, Marvin McNutt) are the better picks.[Personally, I go Curry]
3)Only reason I dislike the pick is because of me taking Kirkpatrick in the 1st. If the pick was a CB, I would take a different CB but that would be your big board differing from mine. IMO, the guys to consider are Brian Quick and Tommy Streeter. {Close call for me, but I personally think Streeter might be the better pick of the 2]
4) I greatly dislike Criner as a prospect and do not think he will amount to much in the NFL. Personally, I think T.Y. Hilton is a better pick at WR, and other guys to consider would be Tank Carder, Desmond Trufant, Bobby Wagner. [If it were me, I would be going with Hilton]
5)Bequette would be phenomenal value in the 5th round, and I definitely would approve of the pick. Other names to consider would be Lonnie Edwards, Jordan White. [I probably go Bequette although White is a very tempting player to pick up in the 5th]

On a totally different note, you have repeats. The ones I caught:(1)Bobby Wagner @ 4.31 and 5.5 (2)Brandon Lindsay @ 3.17 and 5.16

Thanx Jags

I know that my opinion of Jefferys is much higher than many but I really think that he will be an elite receiver in the NFL. Look what he did against Dennard in their Bowl match-up. I really feel that he suffered thru some extremely mediocre QB talent at South Carolina. I also disagree on Criner & actually felt like I had underestimated his draft worth in the 4th. It really comes down to where we differ on players value.I hate it when I repeat picks, I was getting in a hurry to finish by the 5th & got sloppy

by ENsDad27 on Jan 18, 2012 6:24 PM EST up reply actions

I will say this about Jeffery

he comes into the workouts at a good weight, has a good showing in the 40 and puts together a nice set of workouts and I could be on board with the pick, but right now I am just a bit concerned with him.

First of all, 5 rds is dedication, so applause. Now to see how you did:

The Packers, I loved what I saw in the first 2 picks, but not the rest. Crick and Irvin both great. Spence is meh but he’s good value. But then you got 2 more DLs, that means we got THREE DTs, and no Defensive Backs.

Texans: Good work, all picks are very good, need and value match.

Good job with the Phins too, except a TE will be sought in rds 2-4, but Tannehill and the other picks are good.

Tajh Boyd and Dre' Ellington are the future.
Brandon Jennings; Just keep waiting people.

by BlackPack-fan on Jan 18, 2012 6:16 PM EST reply actions

Not sure where you see three DTs

1 – Jared Crick DE
2 – Bruce Irvin OLB
3 – Sean Spence LB
4 – Marcus Forston DT
Comp. Trenton Robinson FS
Comp. Matt Reynolds T
5 – Brett Roy DE
I thought that your offense didn’t really need much but your D could use a lot of talent

by ENsDad27 on Jan 18, 2012 6:34 PM EST up reply actions

All 3 of those guys

Crick, Forston, and Roy are all going to play DE in the 3-4, which is the same as DT pretty much. 3 guys at the exact same position is too much.

Sorry I didn’t see Robinson I didn’t notice we had 2 comp picks, I only saw Reynolds. That’s why I said “and no Defensive Backs”.

Tajh Boyd and Dre' Ellington are the future.
Brandon Jennings; Just keep waiting people.

by BlackPack-fan on Jan 18, 2012 7:22 PM EST up reply actions

I see your point

but both Forston (who at one point was considered a low 1st high 2nd prospect) & Roy were both BAP more than need based picks. For team needs for the Packers I had DE & Rush OLBer as your primary & Safety as your secondary from one source & DE,OLB,S & G from another. I will keep your suggestions in mind for my next one…

by ENsDad27 on Jan 18, 2012 8:43 PM EST up reply actions

Cool.

And just letting you know, after addressing those main needs while taking BAP into account (to some extent of course), you can also look at adding a speedy RB, a Center (for the long-term), a cornerback, and a backup developmental QB, as possible late-round picks, but none of those will be addressed early on.

Tajh Boyd and Dre' Ellington are the future.
Brandon Jennings; Just keep waiting people.

Too much interior OL for the G's

RT is the biggest spot that needs to be looked at.

I think I’d go with Dwight Jones or Michael Brockers over Jenkins too. Jenkins is a nipplehead, the Giants don’t go that route especially in the first round. Maybe he falls to us in the 2nd or third like Manningham did

Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows

by Rorschach44 on Jan 18, 2012 6:26 PM EST reply actions

I think they drafted Brewer for RT

They don’t want Rolle playing CB again. But I could see them passing Jenkins for a good character/legacy guy like Minnifield.

2012 mock (Manningham resigns) - 1: Janoris Jenkins CB / Chase Minnifield CB, 2: Kevin Zeitler LG / Ben Jones C-LG / Cordy Glenn LG-RT, 3: Keenan Robinson SAM, 4: Neiko Thorpe FS, 5: Vic Ballard RB / Brandon Bolden RB

(Manningham lost) - 1: Marvin McNutt WR, 2: Kevin Zeitler LG / Ben Jones C-LG / Cordy Glenn LG-RT, 3: Keith Tandy CB, 4: Neiko Thorpe FS, 5: Vic Ballard RB / Brandon Bolden RB

well done young man...5 rounds that is awesome!!!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you have Doug Martin going to both the chargers and broncos. SD in the 3rd and Denver in the 5th.

Steelers

I’m not sure how I feel about Poe in the first. I think I need to see his combine and watch some more tape before I agree he is a first rounder. The pick certainly fits a need.

Otherwise, it looks good except for drafting 2 OLB and 0 ILBs.

PS-rec for doing 5 rounds, bravo

yea 2 OLBs doesnt really make sense for steelers

replace Thomas with Audie Cole in the 3rd and you’d have a pretty damn good draft for them.

A couple more

Wagner T Wisconsin, Trufant CB Washington

Also you gave away Keenan Robinson OLB Texas twice.

2012 mock (Manningham resigns) - 1: Janoris Jenkins CB / Chase Minnifield CB, 2: Kevin Zeitler LG / Ben Jones C-LG / Cordy Glenn LG-RT, 3: Keenan Robinson SAM, 4: Neiko Thorpe FS, 5: Vic Ballard RB / Brandon Bolden RB

(Manningham lost) - 1: Marvin McNutt WR, 2: Kevin Zeitler LG / Ben Jones C-LG / Cordy Glenn LG-RT, 3: Keith Tandy CB, 4: Neiko Thorpe FS, 5: Vic Ballard RB / Brandon Bolden RB

Rams

If the draft fell like this; I cannot see The Rams improving much. They would do better to entertain trade offers.

IMO, St.Louis in accordance to this mock, would do better by taking:

1. Blackmon
2. Lamar Miller
3. Josh Chapman
4. Casey Hayward

by ValdezY on Jan 18, 2012 7:13 PM EST reply actions

if we dont resign brandon lloyd

We should take aj Jenkins in round 6 and blackmon. I think they would make a nice pair.

by zachmann21 on Jan 18, 2012 7:43 PM EST up reply actions

I like that idea.

AJ Jenkins is an underrated WR.

Here's my breakdown of the Texans picks

1st – There’s pretty much a 0% chance they go DT in the first round. WR is too big of a need right now. This pick will go in one of three ways, either it will be Dwight Jones, Nick Toon, or Mohamed Sanu. They need someone who can step in & be a #2 WR & eventually become the #1 when Andre retires

2nd – Since they’re not going with a NT in the 1st, they’ll take one in the 2nd. If Josh Chapman is still on the board, they’ll take him

3rd – They need some depth & possibly a future starter on the interior O-Line. Best available guard on the board is Senio Kelemete, so they’ll take him.

4th – Texans need some depth at safety. Since Wade Phillips likes guys that can cover more ground, Trenton Robinson would be the way to go. However this could also end up being an OLB if Mario Williams isn’t resigned. If that’s the case, they’ll probably go with Bobby Wagner (Note: you have Wagner picked twice, once at the bottom of the 4th, again at the top of the 5th)

5th – This is the only pick I can’t complain about. They need depth in the interior O-Line, however they could look at someone with some KR/PR skills here if it’s not addressed in free agency

Im not sure you can say theres a 0% chance they go DT in the first

I think this mock shook out pretty well for the texans and I could say theres a chance it works out this way.
2 Wideouts, Defensive Tackle, ILB, Guard Depth. Fills needs with some good value. I think this works out pretty well.

Theres some confusion on the DT topic with Wade Phillips.
Some people say Antonio Smith might move inside with Mario Williams taking over as a DE again.
Some people are saying we draft a smaller penetrating tackle.
Its not clear what exactly is going to happen.

My thinking on this is that they'll sign one WR in free agency to fill Jacoby's role

I think either Eddie Royal or Ted Ginn Jr would be the best options for that. Even in that scenario, I think they look for an upgrade over Kevin Walter in the first round. I don’t like the group of WRs that are there in the bottom of the 2nd round. I like Chapman in the 2nd round over any of the WRs at that spot. Dwight Jones, Toon, & Sanu are the best fits for the Texans offense, which is why I go with one of them in the 1st round. ILB is not as much of as need as some think. We have Cushing, Demeco, Sharpton, Alexander, Dobbins, plus Cheta on the practice squad. The way I addressed it, I took a WR, NT, OG, a toss up between a FS & an OLB (if Mario is gone), & a toss up between a Center & a KR/PR.

first round comments:
1st, 2nd & 2013 2nd to move up four spots

will take atleast 2 two’s

Do the giants trade up 1 spot to give the pats some kinda moral victory?

and if the pats are drafting a WR, they are taking sanu.
they have basically become the nfl pipeline of rutgers

no complaints on the giants first pick.

I hate the first rounder for the Lions.

They are already loaded at TE, with Pettigrew and Scheffler, who combined forover 1100 yards, over 100 catches, and 11 TD’s, with Pettigrew 2nd on the Lions in receptions and yards, and Scheff is tied for 2nd inTD’s. Jenkins, Burfict, or Gilmore would all be much better options.

The Texans are proof you can never have too many TEs

We have so many, some play defense or moved to other positions. Both our starting tackles moved from TE to OT in college, Connor Barwin moved from TE to DE before his senior year, James Casey moved from TE to FB before this season, J.J. Watt played TE at Central Michigan, then moved to DE at Wisconsin, and lastly Garrett Graham, our #3 TE, played some snaps at OLB in Week 17. If you’ve played TE before, Kubiak will find a place on the roster for you

But how many guys do you have that still

play TE? We already have 3 good ones. We’ve got one who is a great blocker in Heller, one who is a great receiver in Scheffler, and one who is great at both in Pettigrew. Heller also plays some H-back/fullback for the Lions, too.

by beef99 on Jan 19, 2012 7:58 AM EST up reply actions

I actually hope we get rid of Heller, personally.

But still, I can’t get behind the first pick. I don’t think it matches need or BPA, it seems really off the mark and I kind of question what the thinking process was for that. Scheffler already takes a lot of advantage of Johnson’s coverage and Pettigrew is an astounding blocker.

I agree, Jenkins, Burfict, Gilmore. Dennard… hell, even Barron, would have caused me way less pause.

I understand your reasoning

mine was that Mayhew does a similar tactic to last year, not filling a need but making a great player even greater. By taking Fairley last year, I think that he was trying to take some of the pressure off of Suh. In my draft, by taking the best TE (Dwayne Allen) they make Calvin Johnson better by taking some of the coverage away from him. If you already have very talented TEs then I agree the pick is not good but that was my logic for making the pick in the 1st place. On my next one, it will be a different player/position but possibly the same logic, any suggestions ??

by ENsDad27 on Jan 20, 2012 1:59 PM EST up reply actions

I seem to be the only one

thinking this, but I see the Lions taking Burfict. In my mind, he is a lot like Fairley, in that he has tremendous talent, but will fall because of character concerns and “dirty” play. He would come to a position where we already have talent, but he is athletic enough to where the Lions could probably move him around from inside to outside a little bit, and he fits the mentality of the rest of the defense. Otherwise, it could be Konz, Dennard, Jenkins, maybe even Kirkpatrick, if you think he’ll fall because of his arrest.

Chiefs redraft

1. David Decastro, G, Stanford
BPA at a position of need

2. Michael Brockers, DE, LSU
Easily BPA and a position we could use improvement. Allows flexibility with Jackson and Dorsey

3. Brandon Mosley, OT, Auburn
Solid RT prospect in a run oriented offense.

4. Harrison Smith, SS, Notre Dame
Big SS to help cover TE’s and provide depth for EB.

5. Terrence Ganaway, RB, Baylor
Downhill runner that gains tough yards.

Almost no problems with the Giants draft

I’d prefer Adcock in the 3rd, we don’t really need guards, but I’m fine with taking a Center. General question, I though Brockers was a 1st round pick, is there a chance he falls to the 2nd round?

This.

Jenkins (or Dwight Jones) would be the perfect picks for me. Lamar Miller in the 2nd (Oh HELL YES, thank you very much ENs)
I wouldn’t mind Adcock, though he’s a little weak to be a good RT in our system, I would think. I’d take Brandon Taylor there…safety is a need if we get rid of Grant or Rolle.

Grant will probably go

But I bet they are looking to put Sash in that 3rd safety role (Or Chad Jones, but I refuse to put any of my eggs in that basket, but I’m praying for the guy. It’s a miracle he’s walking, I don’t expect him to play football.) I have a hard time choosing between Jones and Jenkins, Jenkins is very talented, but at the same time Jones on our offense would make us almost unstoppable. Add Miller into the equation and BOOM goes the dynamite. It would not be crazy to expect some 50 or 60 point games.

by #56 4life on Jan 18, 2012 9:32 PM EST up reply actions

Sash should get more time

But as you can see by my sig, I’d take Thorpe in the 4th. Rolle is just too expensive to last long. Rather give his money to Phillips (UFA 2013).

Overall this is pretty good. Hard to argue players I have not scouted (can’t say I caught any Utah State games). Probably would not take two interior OL though, not the Giants style.

Colts

No real complaints about the Colts. I’m not so sure about a DT in the third, but there weren’t really any receivers or corners I liked around that spot. Givens is ok in the fourth but Broyles typifies what the Colts look for in a reciever so I’d they’d go with him over Givens. In fact, the only pick I’m not on board with is the linebacker in the fifth. The Colts are really set at linebacker and will probably be able to resign Ernie Sims and Phillip Wheeler for cheap. However, the Colts are going to need a right guard and Nix would be tough to pass up. The Colts may also look for a center earlier in the draft because it looks like Jeff Saturday is going to retire.

The way I see it

Only a few top to good talent: Upshaw, Ingram, Perry.

The rest all have issues to prove. Andre Branch needs to prove that he can stand up and run. Mercilus needs to show he has the hips and flexibility to play the position. Curry likewise needs to show he can make the transition and must convince people he can produce when facing better talent. And while Irvin looks like he can make the transition, he needs to prove that he can set the edge.

Sure, there are a bunch of players that can play the 34 OLB, just not that many impact guys. The rest all have issues or need a few years of development.

Cowboys

Nick Perry is ok but I’d rather have Ingram, I like him better as an OLB opposite Ware. Lol the fact that you gave us an ILB in the 2nd says that you know how we draft BUT I’m hoping that not the case this year, I can’t believe that Brockers is still there in the 2nd but if he is we jump up and take him for sure. In the third you gave a CB which is good, but I don’t much about the prospect. I like the 4th round pick and the 4th round comp pick could be a QB to groom behind Romo even though we have bigger needs on defense. And CB is a huge need so grabbing 2 in the draft would be great. Good mock overall.

Several Problems with the Cowboys draft.

1. you do not address the 2 biggest needs for Dallas until way to late. OLB is more of an uprade than a need. Dallas needs OL and DBs. Also DE is a much bigger need than OLB.

2. Brandon Boykin is staying for his senior year as is Robert Lester.

Props for a 5 round mock, but I could definitely like to see a few mods.

1) Kontz from Wisconsin in the first. We have to solidify the line.
2) Love to trade up and grab Barron, but Hightower could replace Almost Anthony.
3) Like I said Boykin is staying and I would love BPA DB or DT
the rest can be pure BPA. If we get Cliff Harris that late I will dance a jig.

A 5 round draft and the 49ers

Didn’t get a single starter and only the 1st rounder has a chance to start anywhere in the next 2-3 years and even that is a tossup.

We get a corner who would be #4 on the depth chart, a 4-3 linebacker when we run a 3-4, a tackle that is staying in school, a 3rd down back who isn’t better than Kendall Hunter, and a slot receiver that isn’t better than Kyle Williams.

Ravens

Not bad at all for us. Love the 1st and 3rd round picks. I think the 2nd may be a little too early for Henry and I question his ability to really become a solid starter in the league. It’s a need, but I don’t think we reach for it. With the way the board fell I would probably prefer to go with one of the big WR’s like Streeter or Quick because their upside is at least a lot higher than Henry’s IMO.

Bucs - I like it

The Claiborne and James picks are both great. The Mike Adams pick is interesting. I like it, although I’m sure it would be a controversial pick on bucs boards. He’s a slipping first round talent. It is a little high for a RT but I think it would be worth it. Trueblood is terrible, and that is a huge upgrade to the line in the weakest spot. And Trueblood might (MIGHT) be able to play LG negating his slow feet, upgrading that spot. Then Zuttah slides to center and we dump Faine. It might be 3 upgrades to the line with a single pick.

Our OLine struggled with our attempt to run less pass more, so adding to it is a good move although I am not familiar with Don Barclay.
Flemming in the 5th round would be a huge steal in IMO, that would be great.
overall, pretty good picks considering the Falcons are without a 1st or 4th rounder

LIONS

with pettigrew and sheffler in the fold there is absolutely no way the lions take a tight end in the first round. thanks for the 5 round mock though football junkie and love the read. good work. lions will go defense or o-line

IMO Andre Branch is more a mid 1st rounder, not mid second

others that seem little low: Broyles, Marcus Forston, and Andrew Datko (all season ending injuries, but that doesn’t always knock you down that low)

also Jeff Fuller, Coryell Judie, Josh Chapman, and Jarius Wright all seem a little low to me
also I agree Dwayne Allen is too similar to Pettigrew for Detroit to pick him
but overall an excellent job!

I think you correctly identified

Ben Jones, Hightower, Fleener, Mark Barron, and Lamar Miller as 2nd round picks (many others have them in the first)

by durst on Jan 19, 2012 10:36 AM EST reply actions

you have the Dolphins taking 2 rbs in the 4th round...

I think they would take a WR with that 2nd pick inthe 4th round (Ryan Browles is a perfect fit)

Vikes draft

Overall not bad. I think you targeted the correct positions. For me personally I like Jonathan Martin more than Riley Reiff. But I like the trade because I gives us more ammo to right the ship.

I wish you would have addressed the secondary with 2 picks instead of 2 receivers. I love the Hayward pick, and I would be stoked if we got him in the 4th (I think he climbs into the early 3rd round, possibly late 2nd). I would have liked Mark Barron in the 2nd over Worthy. Then maybe Josh Chapman or Kawaan Short in the 3rd over Lewis. Or stick with Lewis in the 3rd and get Derek Wolfe in the 5th (I think he goes much earlier, 3rd at least). I would have liked Lonnie Edwards in the 5th as well.

Jaguars

I think Jeffery is a good start, but would change it up afterwoods.

First I don’t like Zeitler’s value there especially with guys like Curry, Branch, and Miller there. I think Lamar Miller’s value if available at this pick would be too much to pass up despite having the leading rushing in the NFL. Miller could take the load off of MJD and add some extra explosiveness when MJD is out.

I’m not high on Fleming either, especially when Brewster is there. He’s a guy I think will end up teal at the end of April. Real Gene Smith type of guy and the need is there as Meester is aging.

Criner is a good pick, but Fuller may be a better one. Both would be a solid addition to the Jaguars atrocious WR core.

While I do like Bequette, I think Datko represents more value especially with the question marks at RT for the Jaguars.

after reading all these comments, it appears you have done awesome!!!!! Congrats, bro.

Also, love the selection of RG3. We now can turn the corner….

Jags

Solid Draft in my opinion. Jeffery, Fleming, Criner, and Bequette are all really good picks. As far Zeitler goes, I can’t see them drafting a G unless he can play RT otherwise, they are just using a 2nd round pick on a depth guy. Overall though, I like it.

Panthers

Nice job at knowing our team needs and kudos for taking the time to do a 5 rounder with comp picks and trades. Adjustments- though we need a playmaker there badly, I doubt the Panthers go DT in the second round since they have a lot of mid-level guys there already. However if Brockers is still there on the board as you predict, the fanbase would do backflips to be able to get him and Kirpatrick in the same draft! Other guys that would be likely if still on the board in round 2 would be Barron (would he really drop that far?), Lewis at OLB, or Lester at FS.

Bengals

I don’t think Brown will pull the trigger to move up. Kendall Wright would surprise me but I don’t hate the pick. I know we need help at guard really bad but not to the point we draft 3 of them.

by EPK1979 on Jan 19, 2012 7:00 PM EST reply actions

I feel a little mixed about this draft.

I love Richardson and Wright in terms of talent. If they got those two players, the Bengals offense would be totally transformed. But…they are giving up a lot in order to make that happen.

It depends on what the Bengals do this offseason. If they are able to fill some holes before the draft – in this case, if they pick a free agent CB or two – then I would like this draft.

However, three guards is a bit excessive. They still have Boling waiting in the wings. I could also see them bringing Bobbie Williams back on a one year deal.

Browns

Your right in the fact that Cleveland doesnt want to give up any draft picks to move up to any spot. Now, I dont think that minny is going to get the nod of trading away RGIII. Still think that the #4 spot is where he gets traded.

I dont hate the Blackmon pick, and I like the LB pick in the first. Somehow you swapped the 2nd round picks around, clevelands got the 36th pick not 37th – though a ORT wouldn’t be too bad there. Hate the 3rd pick – need a DE there.
The 4th round you went with FS twice, Thinking RB & then FS. 5th round is gonna be another LB or DE.

See going after Ben Grubbs (OG), and Samuels (CB), Jackson (either Vincent or Desean or both – WR), and another LB in free agency will fill in many holes and add quality free agents. The talent level on the Browns has grown considerably in the last two years.

Cleveland goes 8-8 to 10-6, in part of the easier schedule not counting division games.

If Polk is there for the Jets in rd2...

I’m not sure if I would want to pass him up, despite all the needs we need to fill.

Dolphins

Amazing draft for the fins except round four. The dolphins don’t need a running back and definitely don’t need two. A better pick would’ve been a tight end (Ladarius Green), a wide reciever (Ryan Swope or Ryan Broyles), or o-line depth and secondary depth. Other than that it is a fantastic draft and I really love the Tannehill pick and the Andre Branch pick.

Loved the Eagles picks

The first 4 picks you made for us are gang-busters. Kuechly needs to join our team, Martin could team with Nate Allen to finally give us a nice young set of safeties (sorry Jarrett), Ronnel Lewis would be a nice value at 19, and it’d be awesome to get Brian Quick. We’ve needed a big physical WR since T.O. got shipped out. I would like us to use our first 4th round pick on a nickel corner or someone with return ability but other than that A+. I hope our actual draft goes half as well.

I really like the Texans draft

I would only think we would grab Still if Wade thought he was a steal at that spot and if he thinks he can play NT in the system, if thats the case I think hes a beast. I thought it was the first good need/value draft I have seen on MTD for the Texans

Rectum!? Damn near killed 'em!!!

by theSpaceCityKid on Jan 23, 2012 11:41 AM EST reply actions

I don't like it

I don’t think we’re going with a NT in the 1st because WR is our biggest need. While I don’t mind Randle, I do not like Broyles one bit. Too small, coming off an ACL injury, projected to only have low 4.5 speed (and that’s if he’s fully recovered). Truthfully, I wouldn’t mind going WR with both of the first two picks. I’d love to see Randle & Sanu both learning from Andre
