Ranking the 2012 Draft Prospects by Position - Tight Ends
This year’s TE class features one elite prospect and many, many more average to good prospects.
1. Dwayne Allen, Clemson – Allen is far and away the best TE in the class. I have him as a late first to early second round pick due to his combination of receiving and blocking abilities.
2. Coby Fleener, Stanford – Fleener is a dynamic TE who is better as a receiver than a blocker. He could also line up as a slot WR in the NFL.
3. Orson Charles, Georgia – Charles is a good TE prospect. His strength is as a blocker but he also has some receiving skills. He reminds me of Heath Miller.
4. Tyler Eifert, Notre Dame – Eifert is a good prospect who is only a junior. I have not heard if he declared or not but if he did, he will be a third round pick.
5. Evan Rodriguez, Temple – Rodriguez is a versatile prospect who can also play some H-back. He is an average receiver who excels as a blocker.

6. David Paulson, Oregon
7. Michael Egnew, Missouri
8. George Bryan, N.C. State
9. Ladarius Green, Lousiana-Lafayette
10. Drake Dunsmore, Northwestern
11. Nick Provo, Syracuse
12. Philip Lutzenkirchen, Auburn
13. Michael Williams, Alabama
14. Rhett Ellison, USC
15. Josh Chichester, Louisvile

Eifert went back to ND?
As a Falcon’s fan, I watched this class of TEs alot this year (Tony Gonzalez getting old) and without a first round pick, I was looking for Atlanta to use it’s second round pick on a TE. I do NOT see a TE being taken in the first round this year, but there are 3 solid 2nd round prospects.
Yep. Forgot to take him off the list when I saw that news
That will be fixed in the next rankings

He should be on the list but not top 10
He doesn’t have the production to justify that, and I haven’t really heard anything about him tearing it up at the Shrine Bowl practice this week.

Hahahah DC Jefferson
I guess he has high upside, but all he seems to do is hurdle guys when he gets the ball.

Jefferson, Williams, and Lutzenkirchen are juniors and none of them declared
Jefferson and Williams are the two best blockers listed here, hope the Giants get one next year.
2012 NYG mock - 1: Chase Minnifield CB, 2: Kevin Zeitler G, 3: A.J. Jenkins, WR, 4: Neiko Thorpe S, 5: Brandon Bolden RB, 6: Rishard Matthews WR, 6: some random LB, 7: BPA
love to see Dwayne Allen go to teh NYGs
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
Over/Under on how many times during draft coverage we'll hear tight ends compared to Gronk?
I’m thinking any tight end with athleticism will be slightly over valued this year as everyone tries to copy the Pats success.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Bears pick up LaDarious Green as a late round developmental guy
Also, do you think that there is a realistic possibility Fleener falls into the early 3rd?

Fleener will end up some where between round 2 and 3. It will depend on his combine/pro day
I like him much better in the early 3rd than the mid 2nd but who knows.

If Allen can be consistent he should be the best
His size/speed ration is bananas, plus his jumping ability, should be interesting come combine time
