steel.curtain Mock Draft with trades
I haven't tried a mock with trades in a while and with so much movement expected in this year's draft I thought it appropriate. I hope you all appreciate it and as always constructive feedback is welcomed.
1. Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck QB, Stanford
Not much explanation needed here. The Colts will take Luck, no questions asked.
TRADE: Rams trade #2 pick to Redskins for 2012 1st, 2nd, 4th and 2013 1st and 3rd.
2. Washington Redskins (via Rams): Robert Griffin III QB, Baylor
This could be one of the most predictable trades in quite some time. Washington will go after for RG3, and I don't see another team wiling to outbid them.
3. Minnesota Vikings: Matt Kalil OT, USC
The Vikings need to put weapons around Christian Ponder immediately. They would have to seriously consider Blackmon here, but ultimately a franchise LT like Kalil is too valuable. If they can find a #1 receiver they will have a good group in place on offense.
4. Cleveland Browns: Justin Blackmon WR, Oklahoma State
Cleveland is rumored to want RG3 as well, but they are in too good a position to trade out of. Any of the top prospects on offense would fit for them, so they can sit tight and wait for whoever comes. Blackmon would be a great target forColt McCoy (or whoever they have at QB) and would push Greg Little down to #2, which is where he belongs. If Blackmon is gone, they can take Richardson since they will be losing Peyton Hillis in the offseason.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Morris Claiborne CB, LSU
Tampa is also in a good position since its unlikely any defensive players will be taken in the top 4 (barring a trade). That means they can take Claiborne who fills their biggest need. Claiborne isn't as freakishly athletic as Patrick Peterson, but is probably an even better cover corner.
6. St. Louis Rams (via Redskins): Trent Richardson RB, Alabama
This pick might surprise some, but Steven Jackson will be 29 next summer and has taken a huge workload so far in his career. Richardson ensures the Rams will have his replacement ready before they actually need him. They'll also have to consider Riley Reiff to help their OL, or trading down again to get a WR at better value.
TRADE: Jaguars trade #7 pick to Bengals for 2012 1st, 3rd and 2013 2nd (both via Raiders).
7. Cincinnati Bengals (via Jaguars): Dre Kirkpatrick CB, Alabama
Jacksonville's needs don't really matchup with the talent here so they trade down with the Bengals who jump ahead of Carolina and take the 2nd best CB in this class. Kirkpatrick is almost 6'3" and would make a great tandem withLeon Hall, who is only 5'11".
8. Carolina Panthers: Quinton Coples DE, UNC
Carolina would love Kirkpatrick, but gets a good consolation prize in Coples. Other than Charles Johnson, they have a pretty weak pass rush and are bad at stopping the run. This is perfect for Coples who flashes a ton of potential in getting at the QB but is even better at stopping the run. With Johnson taking most of the offense's attention, Coples will have an easier time.
9. Miami Dolphins: Riley Reiff OT, Iowa
I really don't like mocking a RT in the top 10, but there aren't many options for the Dolphins right now. Any WR or QB would be a huge reach, and while Upshaw would be a good pick opposite Cameron Wake, Reiff is simply better. He will never be a LT with Jake Long in the picture, but he will give the Dolphins one of the best OLs in the league in joining with Long and Mike Pouncey.
10. Buffalo Bills: Courtney Upshaw OLB, Alabama
The Bills' pass rush was pretty abysmal this year, so they take the best 3-4 OLB prospect in this class. Upshaw played phenomenally all year on a great defense. He and former teammate Marcel Dareus will be great cornerstones to this front 7 for years.
11. Kansas City Chiefs: Jonathan Martin OT, Stanford
Another top pick being spent on a RT here, but Martin has a good chance to develop into the LT after a year or two. Brandon Albert is good, but would be great at RT if Martin can beat him out for the job.
TRADE: Seahawks trade #12 and 2013 2nd round to Indianapolis for Peyton Manning.
12. Indianapolis Colts: David DeCastro G, Stanford
Anther somewhat shocking trade, but it should be expected at this point. Manning and Luck can't coexist, and with the new regime in Indi they won't keep Manning for nostalgia's sake. The Seahawks will gladly bring in Manning who will inherit some young pieces around him and a solid defense. DeCastro makes sense for the Colts since they tookAnthony Castonzo last year but still need help on the line. Doesn't hurt that he's been protecting Luck for a few years already at Stanford.
13. Arizona Cardinals: Luke Kuechly ILB, Boston College
Arizona has some pieces on defense but could use another top talent to pair with young standout Daryl Washington. Kuechly is a very instinctive ILB and is a tackling machine. He could man that position for years no problem.
14. Dallas Cowboys: Devon Still DE, Penn State
Dallas is expected to take DeCastro in most mocks, but with the Seattle trade they have to look elsewhere. Devon Still has had a fantastic year and can provide a JJ Watt-type impact on the Dallas defense.
TRADE: Eagles trade #15 pick and Asante Samuel to New England for both 1sts and 3rd.
15. New England Patriots (via Eagles): Melvin Ingram DE, South Carolina
Rumors are swirling that Samuel will be traded, and a chance to go back to New England would be great for him. The Pats need help everywhere on defense and work out a deal to get him along with a top pass rusher in Melvin Ingram. They seem to be transitioning to a 4-3, where Ingram would excel. But he's also shown that he could move to 3-4 OLB if he needs to which makes this ideal for Belichick.
16. New York Jets: Andre Branch OLB, Clemson
Even with all the issues surrounding the Jets' offense, their defense is what took a huge step backwards in 2011. With no effective pass rushers, they weren't able to capitalize on their blitzing. Branch is another pass rusher out of Clemson who could transition to OLB in a 3-4.
17. Jacksonville Jaguars (from Bengals via Raiders): Michael Floyd WR, Notre Dame
I've upgraded Floyd over Jeffery recently, but if Jeffery runs a 4.4 at the combine I'm immediately switching back. After trading down the Jaguars get a #1 target for Blaine Gabbert who will also take attention away from Mourice Jones-Drew.
18. San Diego Chargers: Cordy Glenn OG, Georgia
San Diego's OL got pretty beat up and we all saw how it affected Philip Rivers. Glenn is a good pick here since he can play either G or RT, wherever he is needed most.
19. Chicago Bears: Alshon Jeffery WR, South Carolina
The Bears have plenty of speedy of receivers to get deep but Jeffery would provide a huge 6'4" redzone target and someone to go over the middle. Jay Cutler needs a #1 receiver like Jeffery to lean on.
20. Tennessee Titans: Kendall Wright WR, Baylor
Tennessee will get Kenny Britt back from injury, but a slot receiver threat like Wright would give Jake Locker a full set of weapons to work with.
21. Cincinnati Bengals: Lamar Miller RB, Miami
After filling their top need on defense the Bengals look to add pieces to their offense. They have glaring needs at Guard but also at RB where Miller's talent far outweighs that of any remaining guards. He's a dynamic backfield threat that will give them the explosive plays they've lacked with Cedric Benson.
22. Cleveland Browns (via Falcons): Ryan Tannehill QB, Texas A&M
Mike Holmgren has made it clear that he'll bring in competition for Colt McCoy. After missing out on RG3, Tannehill makes sense at the end of round 1. Tannehill is a converted WR who probably won't be able to beat McCoy right away, but could develop as the season goes on.
23. Detroit Lions: Alfonzo Dennard CB, Nebraska
Detroit needs talent on defense before it can think about beating Green Bay. They have a great DL but very little talent at LB or DB. They could consider Mark Barron or Zach Brown, but Dennard is a safer and more talented prospect right now.
24. Pittsburgh Steelers: Dontari Poe NT, Memphis
I've flip-flopped over this pick a ton already. Pittsburgh needs talent at Guard, replacements for Casey Hampton andJames Farrior, and some depth at Safety in case Troy Polamalu can't stay healthy. I've debated over Mark Barron, Peter Konz, Dont'a Hightower, and Vontaze Burflict but ultimately I don't think they'll be able to pass up the best NT prospect this year. Drafting Poe will also give them leverage over Casey Hampton to restructure his contract.
25. Denver Broncos: Brandon Thompson DT, Clemson
Denver went into the 2011 Draft with a desperate need at DT and decided to take Von Miller instead of Marcel Dareus. Time will tell if they made the right call but they still could use a top DT even though fill-ins Brodrick Bunkly and Marcus Thomas had decent seasons. Thompson was considered a top 15 pick but didn't have a spectacular year so he drops a little.
26. Houston Texans: Mohamed Sanu WR, Rutgers
The Texans really overachieved this year after losing both Matt Schaub and Mario Williams. Getting them back next year should lead to another division title, especially if they add to their potent offense. With the best running game in the league and Andre Johnson demanding all the defense's attention, Sanu will be put in a great situation. Plus, Johnson isn't guaranteed to stay healthy anymore, so Sanu will help fill that void.
27. Philadelphia Eagles (from Patriots via Saints): Vontaze Burflict ILB, Arizona State
After trading down, the Eagles still fill their top need at the end of the first with Burflict. They'll have to accept a bad personal foul call now and then with Burflict's aggressive style, but that's a problem they'd gladly have over what they had last year.
28. Green Bay Packers: Fletcher Cox DE, Mississippi State
Green Bay's defense took a huge step back this year after a quality Superbowl run in 2010. Usually that means they had problems in their front 7. BJ Raji had a subpar year without Cullen Jenkins next to him. While their biggest need is a pass rusher opposite Clay Matthews, Fletcher Cox is a much better prospect than any OLB remaining. He should've gone in the top 20 and can provide some pass rush as well from the DE spot.
29. New York Giants: Zach Brown OLB, UNC
Similar to Philadelphia, the Giants could use some better talent at LB to help support their phenomenal DL which can pressure the QB by themselves. Brown is freakishly fast for a LB and is great in coverage which makes it a perfect fit for New York.
30. Baltimore Ravens: Dont'a Hightower ILB, Alabama
The Ravens can take the best player available here and have quite a few guys who would fit their needs. They could take Mark Barron to replace Ed Reed, Peter Konz to replace Matt Birk, or Hightower to replace Ray Lewis. I believe Hightower is the best of the three and will fall into the best possible situation in getting to learn for Ray for a year.
31. San Francisco 49ers: Michael Brockers DE, LSU
Brockers is another 3-4 DE prospect who fell to the end of first because not many teams have pressing needs there. He's by far the best player available and will form a great team with Pro Bowler Justin Smith, who is getting older anyway.
32. Philadelphia Eagles (via Patriots): Janoris Jenkins CB, North Alabama
Again the Eagles fill a huge need with their second pick from the Patriots. After trading Asante Samuel, they'll need to get a replacement since Dominique Rodgers Cromartie is a free agent after 2012. Jenkins is a great cover corner who got kicked out of Florida which is why he falls all the way to #32. Andy Reid has shown he is willing to give second chances and won't mind Jenkins' off field issues.

It would be surprising for Indy to pay Peyton 28M then trade him away.
Also, it seems like a ton and a half for Washington to move up 4 spots.
Not crazy about Denver’s pickup, and I would be shocked if Denver did in deed draft a DT in the draft. They didn’t draft 1 last year, and it was there biggest need. I would like to see them trade down, amybe even out of the 1st round all together. If not BPA applies for all there picks. Have to many needs to fill to just jump on 1 position. I would rather draft Brockers over Thompson. IMO Thompson is a mid-2nd round pick.
how would you feel about Dwayne Allen?
TE from Clemson. he was one of my other considerations for Denver but i went with Thompson because i think he’s better overall

Don't know much about him except his stock seems to be going up in the last couple of weeks.
I for 1 don’t like guys that some how there stock goes up after the combine…40 times…blahblahblah…Tebow needs a good TE, but I think Denver will go D heavy in the draft agian. At least I shope so.
yea usually one TE will sneak into the 1st round
so I considered giving him to Denver… Decker and Thomas and Royal are a pretty young, good group of receivers in my opinion so i figured a good TE would give Tebow a different type of target. I agree they should go defense heavy though, I don’t think Tebow’s offense will ever be consistent, but with a good defense it can still win games.
by steel.curtain.number2 on Jan 22, 2012 12:18 AM EST up reply actions
You say "I don't think the Tebow offense will ever be consistent"???
It looked consistent agianst the Steelers 3 weeks ago!!!! He throw for 316 yards and 2 touchdowns agianst the #1 D in all of football!!!
Tebow is still learning how top play QB at the NFL level. And MCCoy needs to learnn to trust Tebow to throw the ball on time to his WRs, TEs, and RBs. 1 thing Tebow needs to do alot better is throw to his check downs and not so much of the deep ball. A good mix of deep and checks and the middle of the field opens up.
The 1 thing for sure that this offenses needs is speed. Whether thats a RB or WR…or both. We need somebody that would put fear into the D that he could go with 1 touch. We’ve missed that sinse Tatum Bell and Clinton Portis. A back like Miller, Wilson, or LaMicheal James would do it. A reciever like Kendall Wright, Micheal Floyd, or Joe Adams would work there. Speed Speed is what I need!!!
oh sure, rub it in..
i never said it wasnt effective i just said its unlikely he’ll ever be able to quarterback an offense like Rodgers or Brees. if you give him good weapons and a great defense that will keep the team close then Tebow can work his magic. i just don’t think you can ever count on him consistently playing well for a full season. but that doesnt mean he can’t consistently win for a full season.

BPA
When you say that BPA applies for all their picks, are you suggesting that EFX employ a BPA strategy?
Truth shall be known.
by Agent Jerry Fletcher on Jan 21, 2012 8:49 PM EST up reply actions
Yes I think that EFX employ a BPA strategy.
Last year they didn’t reach for a DT, because they had other players and positions rated higher. DT was there biggest need, but they didn’t draft a guy like Marvin Austin in the 2nd round because they had Rahim Moore???, and Orlando Franklin rated higher…BPA.
The other possibility is...
…they didn’t see defensive tackle as a big need. Or at least as big of a need as you think it was.
I think you could argue that they saw their biggest needs at pass rush, safety and at right tackle, which led to the drafting of Miller, Moore, Carter and Franklin.
The more I think about it, the drafting of JT, Virgil Green, Mike Mohammed and Nate Irving were all need based. And then you factor in Elway’s comments about needing to find three starters in the draft, to me that spells out a clear BPA-at-positions-of-need strategy.
Yep, I’ve convinced myself.
Truth shall be known.

they can't do it
it would cause over 30mil in dead cap. He has to be cut or retire before the bonus is due, or they have to keep him for 2-3 more years.

but i also think they have the least motivation to move up since theyll still get Blackmon or Richardson and they have Colt McCoy

Rams might get a nice deal but it won’t be that nice when the Redskins are only moving up 4 spots. Your trade proposal is better than the deal Cleveland got last year for swapping 1sts with the Falcons but in that case Cleveland dropped from the 6th to the 23rd pick.
Patriots won’t make that deal either.
Exactly my point, which is why it wont happen there. Of course the Rams are gonna WANT to get a gaggle of picks, hell everyone saw last year how Cleveland – “Julio’d” the Falcons last year. Thats the main reason why it wont happen again, and by asking too much will turn every team off.
Now if Allen/Shanahan are running the Redskins, “Dan the Man” isn’t running the draft, so all of those dreams of Rams fans wanting 2 to 3 first round picks – quit the crackpipe now. The Redskins would offer this years 1st & 3rd, next years 2nd or 3rd. That is more than fair compensation to move up four spots.
Now if Seattle wants RGIII, then the compensation levels go up, since they’d be moving like 10 spots – the farther awayyou are, the more it costs to move up.
New England trading away two first rounders & a third for an old CB and then one DE, well it seems a retarded move by belicheat, which we all know he isnt retarded.
Also, why in the hell would Cleveland take a third round QB in the first round? It’s been proven that Holmgren knows how to maximize his draft picks. Taking Blackmon at #4 is kinda high but we do need a quality WR, but to let Sanu pass us up at #22 well, thats dumb. I likes me a Sanu, Blackmon, Little, & Cribbs WR corps.
I know your a Steeler fan but realistic and be fair about your picks in your mocks.

I agree that I don’t think St. Louis is going to get as much as people think for the pick- at least not from Washington. My thought is that they’re going to command a bunch of picks for someone to move into the #2 slot, because in the end, they can afford to stay at #2 and get Kalil or Blackmon. I think they’ll be content staying at #2 when all is said and done.
I disagree on the idea that his picks for the Browns are unrealistic and unfair, though. Blackmon makes a whole lot of sense at #4, and I think that Tannehill could be a viable option at #22. In the end, I think if the Browns can’t draft Griffin, we’ll look for a later round QB and stick with Colt for another year. But either way, I think two WRs in the first round is far and away more unrealistic than WR and QB.
yea i cant see any team taking 2 WRs in the first round
especially after getting a guy like Blackmon. he’s every bit as good a prospect as AJ Green. as for Tannehill i know its a reach but thats starting to become the norm because people emphasize the QB so much. if i had mocked Christian Ponder to the Vikings at 12 this time last year everyone would call me an idiot but look what happened.
by steel.curtain.number2 on Jan 22, 2012 2:20 PM EST up reply actions
i resent the notion that i wasn't fair because im a Steelers fan
Sanu is a reach for the Texans at 26 and so he’d be even worse at 22.
as for the Redskins— theyre going to have to give up 2 1st round picks. maybe i got carried away with the lower round picks but they won’t make the trade unless theyre getting an extra 1st rounder. like shep615 said, they would be perfectly happy with Kalil or Blackmon and neither of them will be around at #6.
by steel.curtain.number2 on Jan 22, 2012 2:51 PM EST up reply actions
That is probably 99.99999% true – those players will be gone by #6 picks. You are an AFCN fan, and if you watched any of the games, especially from Cleveland, you’d see that the WR is a complete mess. Blow it up and do a reset, so thats why two WR’s in the first. As for Sanu being a reach, he might be, though he’s already above what we have in Cleveland.
"Excuse me while I ride my unicorn over to the gentleman’s club my wife doesn’t mind me visiting and doing coke off a hooker’s ass." - Henry Dawg , DBN - Dec 2011
Put it to rest- You can’t say that a Steelers fan disagreeing with your (HIGHLY unlikely) opinion on what should go down, that he is being unrealistic and unfair. I’m a Browns fan, and I have entertained the idea of taking Tannehill with that second pick. Am I being unfair and unrealistic towards the Browns?
that is the price.
they will not pass

Quinton C is so overrated, it's not even funny.
Lacks many pass rush moves, decent burst off the snap( not elite). Takes plays off, played to not get hurt is what I have been hearing. He reminds me of C. Campbell from the cardinals who is a great 3-4 DEnd. Marty Hurney stated he will go bpa.

I wouldn't be in shock if Dre K falls down
the draft after his recent incident with weed right where the Cowboys pick. I could see dwight Jones selecting in the 1st round( depend on combine) to the texans as the tar heels run the same offense as the texans do. When was the last time the pats traded up? They will probably trade back like always to get more picks. The pats aren’t going to take on asante s contract, plus did he stated how the pats don’t care about it players to getting paid lol?
by adam carter on Jan 21, 2012 7:07 PM EST via mobile reply actions

you might be right
i was more thinking about Indy’s point of view, wanting to ship him to the NFC where he’s as far away as possible. still, he could like the idea of taking Manning and then going for Matt Barkley next year
by steel.curtain.number2 on Jan 22, 2012 12:27 AM EST up reply actions
Yeah, Barkley is probably the early favorite for the first pick next year.
Any Manning-led team wouldn’t be bad enough to even sniff the top three picks.
First time I’ve seen anyone mock Peyton to the Seahawks, but as MasinMud said highly doubtful. It’s well known we need a QB, but Carroll and Schneider are pretty committed to turning over the roster and gearing it to be successful for several years. It’s not a situation like Favre to Minnesota or McNabb to Washington where the FO thinks we’re just a QB away.
Also, I have a hard time seeing either them (or Seattle for that matter) pay $28M just to make this trade.
Work hard, play harder, rest easy.
I don't really like the trades, especially the Pats. Belichik never trades down.
I also hate the Jets pick. They might be able to grab Branch in the second round as of now. Nick Perry would be a much better pick.

i think you meant Belichick never trades up
but either way, just because the past few years he’s traded down doesn’t mean he won’t trade up this year. i think Belichick realizes now that trading down, while usually gaining value in terms of picks, has caused a serious lack of talent on defense. i think he’ll be looking to get a top-tier talent for once since he knows his time with Tom Brady is limited. plus he still has 2 second round picks to work with in this scenario.

However, trade may not be an option for the Colts
They have until March 8 to decide whether to pay or cut him. He can’t be traded until March 13. It’s makes no sense to trade him if they just paid him $26 million. The only way for them to trade him is if they manage to come up with an agreement to push back the pay date to sometime past the 13th of March, however teams could be willing to call their bluff & wait them out so Peyton is either stuck with the Colts eating up a huge number on their cap, or he hits the free agency market & they can make offers to him then without having to give up picks

Probably
The Colts will definitely want to get something out of Manning. The 28 million is the major obstacle, if that deadline can be pushed back he gets traded rather than cut.
everything I've seen says they can't move the bonus
not allowed to re-work a deal in the same league-year it was signed, and the bonus is due before the new league year begins.

deal was obviously based on the expectation he wasn’t going to need another surgery. Which was fair at the time since he was progressing as expected, until then a while after the deal the recovery plateaued.

My thought on the Texans pick
I can’t complain if they were to draft Sanu. Truthfully I’d be happy with either Dwight Jones, Nick Toon, or Sanu (or if I’m greedy, two of those three via trading up in the 2nd). However, Jones would be the better fit since North Carolina runs a version of the Texans offense & Jones would know the routes already, plus he has chemistry with T.J. Yates from their college days that would benefit down the line (as Yates may have cemented himself as the QB of the future for the Texans with this recent run). Again, any of these three would be nice as each shows skills & traits that the Texans value at WR, however it’s a matter of who fits better. Sanu would likely make an impact sooner, but Dwight Jones would be better in the long run, and believe me, we at the Battle Red Blog have gone over this quite closely, as seen here

thanks for the input
i went with Sanu since he’s higher on the board than Jones or Toon for me. what would you think of trading back in this scenario and taking the best available of those 3?? i thought Houston would be the most likely to trade back in this scenario for a team looking to get back into the 1st round for Peter Konz

I think they'll stay put & take their pick of the WRs that are on the board for fear of a run on WRs early in the 2nd
Like I said, it’s not out of the realm of possibility for them to trade up in the 2nd, either for another WR or for the right NT for the scheme, which isn’t a typical 3-4 NT. They’ll want someone who can penetrate in a one gap system, collapse the pocket, and maintain gap responsibility on run plays

This is interesting
You have Brockers and Jenkins falling past the Giants, and while I commend you for not giving us Hightower, consider how the Giants have drafted with Reese as GM. They’ve gone Kiwi (D-Line at the time), Aaron Ross (DB), Kenny Phillips (DB), Hakeem Nicks (WR), JPP (D-Line), and Prince Amukamara (DB). Include the fact that the Giants go BPA, and Brockers and Jenkins are VERY good players, I think if this scenario happens, the Giants end up with either Brockers or Jenkins on their roster.
good to know
if theres anything i’ve been really impressed with its the Giants’ DL in these playoffs so i figured they would work on other positions. who are your current DTs? i didn’t think there was any room to add another one

Our DT's are
Canty, Linval, Marvin Austin, Rocky Bernard, and I think Jimmy Kennedy is on the roster as well. Rocky has had his best year here, but he’s old. I’m not saying I’m on board with the Giants drafting another DT, but if they do, I’d want it to be Brockers. Also don’t count out Jenkins going to the Giants, the Giants can work with character concerns and with the talent Jenkins has they will be more than willing to take him there.
No DT please
marvin is gonna be back next year.
tuck will be playing a lot of DT if we keep osi or move kiwi to DE again
and linval/ marvin are gonna demand a lot of time with how good they should be playing.
Canty is also very solid

you do NOT pass on Michael Brockers if he's there
I don’t want a DT either cuz of Austin, but while I don’t think Brockers has a chance of falling to the Giants (or out of the top 15 for that matter), if you have a mock and he’s there he’s a Giant.
He’s just way too good. He’s young, raw and the best defender on one of the top 2 defenses in the NCAA. Maybe if there’s one thing the Giants could use is a true pass rushing bastard that’s a DT. That’s Brockers. Might also be Marvin Austin, but the more the merrier. Bring the god damn heat.

i think so.
after Upshaw he’s got the best chance to play OLB in a 3-4. Ingram is a little too heavy and would be best in a 4-3 where he doesnt have to drop into coverage a lot.

Jets have a good chance to get him
this was a little screwy because of the trades

I see very little reason for Washington (or, Miami for that matter) trading up with the Rams or Vikings.
The Rams and Vikings have no interest in a QB. These teams appear to be happy with Bradford and Ponder. The better trade-up partner would be the Browns, with whom they find better value and don’t have to give up the cream of two drafts to get him.
That is, unless Cleveland really wants RG3.
Now Miami could give up a king’s ransom to Cleveland in order to preempt the Redskins, but having a new head coach might temper their enthusiasm for such a deal when a free agent QB like Shaun Hill (Detroit) would do.
Holmgren and Heckert have said that they want an offensive coordinator who has extensive experience with the West Coast Offense. This would suggest that Colt McCoy is their QB going forward. One thing we need to watch is who they hire as the OC. Therein lies the clue as to their intentions.
you would be right if they all got together and signed an agreement not to trade up. just because Rams and Vikes won’t take him doesnt mean the threat of another team trading up isnt enough to drive the price up. even Cleveland could trade up, which means Washington or Seattle or whoever will have to bid a ton.
One thing we need to watch is who they hire as the OC. Therein lies the clue as to their intentions.
you are referring to Cleveland here, but this applies more to Miami. to me, bringing in Philbin from Green Bay means they’re going to sign Matt Flynn to compete with Matt Moore. that will take them out of the RG3 sweepstakes.

TRADE: Rams trade #2 pick to Redskins for 2012 1st, 2nd, 4th and 2013 1st and 3rd.
good trade finally
TRADE: Seahawks trade #12 and 2013 2nd round to Indianapolis for Peyton Manning.
no chance , not near enough for arguarbly the greatest QB in league history.
idc if he’s injured, i doubt he regresses much for the next 3 years. atleast need 2 1sts, a second and some later round picks aswell

its not that hes injured, its that he's 36.
sure he has a good 3-4 years left but a good 1st round pick is worth 10 years of production. if you look at the Carson Palmer trade, he was 31 so its an extra 5 years worth. not to mention the seattle pick is more valuable since its locked into 12 overall already. Oakland’s 2013 pick will only be a 1st rounder if they get to the AFC championship game next year, otherwise its only a 2nd.

carson palmer is not peyton manning, he's not even a HOFer
a 36 year peyton is worth 10x more than a say 26 year old palmer type QB.
the seatle pick is still not worth it.
if they get rid of peyton, they have started a rebuilding.
and if u trade maybe the GOAT away u need 2 firsts unless he’s say 38 or 39 and done.
peyton still has football left in him
i mean the guy was almost MVP last year.
the year b4 that he earned his 4th MVP
i dont think this neck injury is as serious as the media portays it 2 be

Agreed
Regardless of age Manning is worth at least 2 1sts or 1 1st, 1 2nd, and a conditional 1st next year
27. Philadelphia Eagles (from Patriots via Saints): Vontaze Burflict ILB, Arizona State
the eagles dont have the locker room to be able to handle burfict.
and
TRADE: Eagles trade #15 pick and Asante Samuel to New England for both 1sts and 3rd.
even if the pats are moving up 12 spots.
i’ll say one of the 1sts and the 3rd is for the 12 spot jump.
but asante isnt worth the other first.
no way the pats do that trade.
plus i may prefer janoris over brown if burfict is gone

No way Patriots do that trade.
Asante didn’t leave on good terms. He was a negative influence in the locker room.
also he isnt worth it

Jags do need a CB
Kirkpatrick would be awesome if not for his little stunt. I think that bumped him off of our list at #7. For the same reason, I don’t think we touch Floyd with a 10 ft pole. Our GM seems a bit anal about “character” guys. You won’t find Jets or Eagles prima donnas in the Jags locker room. You might also have trouble finding elite talent :(
what is 2013 12nd?

A 1st, 2nd & 4th for RGIII is reasonable & realistic
throwing in next years 1st & 3rd is not going to happen. The Redskins have other options & Griffin is not the only QB in this draft.
