NY Football Giants mock draft
Boom.
1) Dwayne Allen TE Clemson: Jake Ballard, Travis Beckum and Bear Pascoe are a decent trio with various talents and production, but the truth is for this offense to really be at the next level they need to get in line with other teams of the NFL and get a matchup nightmare at TE. Beckum was supposed to be that, and while he seems to be getting better as a possession WR he's not a complete freak of a TE. Dwayne Allen is that, and while he probably doesn't fall this far apparently the Giants have been getting "lucky" anyway, so there's that. LOL Eagles.
2) Chandler Jones DE Cuse: ANOTHER DE? Yeap. Osi's probably gone either by trade (10 sacks in 10 games, being a monster in the playoffs...yea, someone will give us something for him. Either that or they sign him long term, which I'd have no problem with).
Jones is a lot like Justin Tuck. He's a true long armed freak of nature, but his career's been derailed by injury. Coming to the Giants is all too fitting.
3) Tommy Streeter WR Miami: ANOTHER WR? Yeap. Manningham's probably gone too, and while I still want to see Ramses Barden get a shot and of course Jerel Jernigan too, they haven't gotten there yet. Streeter is 6"5 and a real field stretcher, he'd be a very unique weapon to get on offense, he really doesn't seem like anything the Giants have.
4) Bobby Massie OT Ole Miss: Yay an OL! He's raw, but the Giants like that. He's also got good size and excels in run blocking. The pass blocking thing Eli will take car of.
5) Tauren Poole RB Tennessee: Sleeper of the draft, I thought he was every bit as good as past UT RBs, but similar to them he just had a ton of injuries and not much help. This late in the draft to get a potential starting caliber complete RB is a steal.
6) Coryell Judie CB Tex A&M: I highly doubt he falls this far, probably more so in the mid rounds but you never know. Again with the luck stuff...lol.
7) Kicker I guess. Or maybe a KR/PR like Chris Rainey or Jeff Demps.
Also there's the chance Osi gets traded, most likely for a 2nd rounder. Depends on where it is, but I think a DB like Casey Heyward from Vandy or maybe a safety like Baccari Rambo from UGA (is he even in the draft? Who cares, I just wanted to write that name).

Nice mock
But given how the Injury Bug seems to live in the Timex Center, I hope JR stays away from guys with an injury history.
Free Agents
Are you predicting that the Giants sign Terrell Thomas, Jonathan Goff, and Aaron Ross back but let Mario Manningham go?
I’d prefer to see the Giants resign Mario Manningham, who’s healthy and let the others go coming off injury and then attack cornerback and/or safety earlier in the draft.
I like Allen in the first round though
I’d also rather see the Giants find a SAM linebacker unless they are definitive on letting Kiwanuka stay there and move Kiwi to DE/LB combo so they don’t need a DE, but I wouldn’t knock the pick of Jones
I like Massie and Poole
I read somewhere that Jeff Demps is going to quit football and pursue the Olympics and I think Rainey might have played himselt out of the 7th round at the Senior Bowl.
All and all not a bad mock

Thomas and Goff yes
Ross probably not. I want Ham back too but I doubt it, he could be a solid #2 WR for some team.
They’re definitive on letting Kiwi stay where he’s at. He’s a SAM and there’s really no way around it. Also what does “needing” a DE have to do with it? Jones is gigantic, a freak and could be great.

I agree Ham could get away. I’d hate to see them mess with that, they have a such a well-balanced top three WR group who work so well together. Risky letting that go.
The Giants won’t draft a DE in the first two rounds unless the player is by far and away the best player on their board in my humble opinion.
If Chandler Jones, to you, is a top 35-50 player I’m fine with the pick, if not, then they won’t take him.
They grabbed Joseph who they had as a 1st round grade (reportedly) and Austin who they had a top 15 grade on (reportedly)
Pierre Paul was a top 6 grade (which they said) they were not just good values they were terrific values. I don’t think Jones represents terrific value there to me, so I think I’d (and they would) go a different direction

Chandler Jones is a top 32 pick for me
and if he reaches his potential he’s a top 15 pick. So there’s that.
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
you are the only other person I have seen high on Chandler Jones really
I think he has that skill set and potential too
I would hate to see him go to the Giants, that would be scary

I agree with you on the free agents
Thomas and Goff will be cheap because of the injuries and the short track record. And TC seems to like both.
All it takes is one team to like a player. CB talent is rare, someone will grab Ross who will play him in man coverage. Manningham has shown enough talent to start somewhere. Reese showed last year he is not going to overspend. We have too many other players to worry about soon (Beatty, Kiwanuka, Phillips among others).

Free Agents
Maybe. I think Reese showed last year that the Giants had no cap room (and he probably over spent on David Baas). He’s shown prior to this year that he will over pay some free agents, but I agree that Phillips, Beatty, and Kiwanuka are more important for the long term success of the team.

No doubt we overpaid for Baas
He had one really good game against the Cowboys, but every other game was average to bad. I’m all for giving him another year, because who knows, maybe it was an injury thing, but I am not impressed with this guy. He was touted as a major run blocker……and for most of the year our running game was bleh.
I've been looking at the roster and salaries
They really screwed with the cap numbers this year. It will cost us about $16 million more just to keep the existing guys we have under contract. We have to hope the team salary cap rises. Or we cut Jacobs and Osi to save half of that amount.

and while I love Allen in the first
I don’t think Reese will. TE is almost at LB territory from what not to pick until day three.

Jermaine Gresham was really, really high on our board when he was in the draft
I think JR knows what a real weapon a TE can be. Guys like Ballard and Boss did well here and they’re slow as molasses.
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
Ballard is slow
but if we retain him as a 2nd TE and have a guy like Allen come in, it’d be ridiculous.
You know since the Giants are so lucky, Ladarius Green will probably fall to us in UDFA
and we would get DeCastro and Konz in the 1st and 2nd
No problem with anybody here.
Not a fan of Streeter though. If we were going with someone tall, raw and/or decent hands, I’d go later rounds and pick up Jermaine Kearse or Greg Childs.
Don’t know too much about Tauren Poole…didn’t watch any UT games, so I’ll take your word for it. Nice job.

Kearse and Childs
Good ideas. Childs before the injury had size and speed, a physical freak. Kearse looked great against Baylor, showed that deep play ability that Manningham brought us.

NO LINEBACKERS?!
THIS BLOWS. Nah, you know I like this. Allen is my preferred first round pick, and I noticed that the rest of the guys are raw athletes, and the Giants can turn those kind of guys into huge successes.
These are Giants-type players
You’ve been mentioning Poole all year. Had a good Shrine week, showed between-the-tackles ability. No long speed, maybe due to his injuries, but we have never chased that anyway.
Never was impressed with Judie. I’m worried about who is going to be covering those quick slot WRs or playing short zone.

He'd be a bad fit for your cattleprods anyway
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
you don't think he could be a 3-4 rush OLB?
or do you strictly see him as a 4-3 DE?

ok
when you say too big, what do you mean exactly?
I am not trying to be a dick or anything like that, I just want to know your opinion because you seem to know your stuff and I was curious to why you dont think he could play for us

he's a great athlete for his size
but just seems more like Carlos Dunlap or Quinton Coples. He’s probably about the same size as JPP, Ware or even Mario Williams, but he’s not that elite of an athlete. I think he’s much better off bulking up and playing in a 4-3. He just looks like a dude that should have his hand in the dirt.

Anyone notice Audie Cole at the Senior Bowl?
6-5 248. Sound like a Giants LB to me.

Cole is good, he's a solid 2nd rounder to me
but an Eagles fan said he really liked Cole too, so I disregarded his existence.

This is a very good and very quality draft.
If I had a complaint at all it would be Chandler Jones. Although he is the Giant prototype I just haven’t seen much there, I don’t have a great feeling there. But what do I know, I hated the JPP pick when we made it so strike my statement from the record.

Like the Bobbie Massie pick
If he had gone back to school, he could have been a first round pick next year. As it stands right now, he’ll be a project w/plenty of upside.
