Bengals

If the draft played out this way I don’t think Bengals fans would be too happy. I thought for sure that Richardson, DeCastro, Glenn, Jenkins or maybe even Kirkpatrick would be there at 17. They’re all off the board here. I don’t think David Wilson is first round talent, and a WR in the first round seems like a waste.

Very ordinary draft

Peter Konz & BPA Mark Barron or Michael Brockers

Please stop giving the Giants Hightower

It won’t happen. It just won’t. Again, Dwayne Allen is on the board here, we’d love him. Or if you want a more Jerry Reese style pick, give us Whitney Mercilus. Hightower is a no go.

I meant mock drafts in general

And Hightower isn’t a good pick. He’s a good player, just not for the Giants. Firstly, he’s too slow to be the Giants 1st round pick. The Giants like athletic freaks. Secondly, he’s a linebacker, which pretty much disqualifies him from the runnings. The Giants don’t need a linebacker. They have plenty of young, talented guys on the roster, plus they have Goff on IR, and Boley is playing lights out. Linebacker isn’t even a need, though it isn’t like the Giants draft by need anyway. The Giants build their defense around the D-Line. Rush the passer, stuff the run on the D-Line, and you don’t need amazing linebackers. Which is why Mercilus would be a more likely pick than Hightower.

Only if he can do more backflips than JPP

2012 NYG mock - 1: Chase Minnifield CB, 2: Kevin Zeitler G, 3: A.J. Jenkins, WR, 4: Neiko Thorpe S, 5: Brandon Bolden RB, 6: Rishard Matthews WR, 6: some random LB, 7: BPA

Horrible Jets pick.

Guard is hardly considered a “need” and we could have gone with Floyd or a T. And where is Melvin Ingram? There’s no way he makes it out of the first round.

If Washington does move up, it will be a very expensive move.

its RG3 people

if it wasn’t for Luck he’d be the #1 pick. he isn’t Jake locker or Christian ponder. whoever wants rg3 is going to have to give up more then they’d like, or take tannehill or foles.

a couple of reasons actually.

locker and ponder went top 12 last year; they are both no where near rg3 level. rg3 would be #1 if it weren’t for luck. plus cam newtons success. the next best QB is tannehill. the new cba makes rg3 a cheaper risk

Cardinals

If the draft went like this I could see the Cardinals going for someone like Wright, providing he’s that high on their board. They really need help on the offensive line but miss out here on the top prospects. Upshaw and Coples are two other names I see a lot of interest in from Cards fans but they’re gone too. Some would argue for Kuechly. I think the need at WR is more pressing.

The only problem I have with Wright

is I see him as a slot guy. We really need a solid #2 WR. We have Doucet(who is an RFA but will likely be brought back) and Roberts who can be very effective slot receivers, but we really need a Sanu type of receiver, IMO.

Doucet is an UFA this year.

Can’t say I know much about Wright other than he’s supposed to be pretty fast.

by hadrarius on Jan 29, 2012 10:03 PM EST up reply actions

my bad about Doucet

must have confused him with a different Cards FA. I still think they’ll bring Early back. Wright is really fast, but likely too small to be a good outside WR.

Brockers to Denver is fine.

A few things

1. Ingram isn’t making it out of the top 20 picks, let alone the entire first round.

2. Osemele is a reach at #24 and Hightower would be a much better pick for the Steelers.

The Texans won't take a DT in the 1st round. WR is a bigger need

2nd or 3rd round is the likely spot where they’ll target a DT

I doubt Sanu will go over Floyd. Floyd in my opinion is the second best receiver in this draft.
