NFL scout opens up about Stanford prospects
After Alabama, no team may have more players drafted in the first round this year than Stanford. After quarterback Andrew Luck, offensive tackle Jonathan Martin and guard David DeCastro are expected to be first-round picks. Tight end Coby Fleener may also flirt with the latter part of round one.
In total, the Cardinal will send six players to the NFL Scouting Combine next week. With that in mind, Ted Miller of ESPN.com got some thoughts on the Stanford players from an NFL scout. Here's his analysis of DeCastro:
"Good kid. Should be a good pro. I see the potential. How can I put this, he's supposed to be [one of the best interior linemen]. But it's all in the eye of the beholder. Everyone has their own opinion. I think the kid will be OK. But will he be an All-Pro? I don't know. He should be, if he works hard enough. He has to get his technique down. He just needs to stay on his feet a little more when he pulls. That's about it."

Ha
I’ve been saying this about DeCastro, and Martin for awhile
flayed ones stealth mode
"Fleshling! Do not shoot! For I am one of you fleshy things. It is I. Your Uncle Stan. Can't you tell by the long strips of fleshy substances covered in bodily fluids? Trust me! I have fleeeeeeeeesh."
I think Owusu will make some team very happy.
He’ll be drafted low but will work his way to being a starter I think.
Wolf. Wolfgang Wolf
I find it amusing
Every year all the left tackles are deemed by scouts to be better right tackle prospects. Last year, some scouts said Solder, Carimi, and Castonzo were probably better fits on the right side. OK. That is fair.
But then what tackles were deemed to be good fits on the left side? These guys were better than the others coming out and they could not even make the grade.
Go figure.
At this rate there will never be any left tackles to come out of college ever. Unfortunately teams need to put someone there.
As a Vikings fan I would be more than happy to take Jonathan Martin to replace Charlie Johnson. I can live with that for a few years.
I will send the scout a fruit cake to ease his concerns and an autographed pair of worn socks from Charlie Johnson too!
the left tackle position in general is overrated

If all it takes are vague, unspecific evals to be an NFL scout.....

Good point
He has basically covered himself from Bust to All-Pro and everything in between.

No
He’ll be fine. He’s pretty good.
My third grade English teacher wouldn’t let him get away with that.

Ha!
I found the whole report useless. Then again, for the most part BSPN is useless.
wow
‘fast’ is probably the last thing I’d say of Fleener, but I guess not.
