I doubt new England passes on Barron.

Gonna make the WR position relevant again? When?

I doubt New England goes for Barron.

If anything, the Pats are too young in the secondary. I believe their oldest DB is 25,

It is what it is

Your rep in the love mock drafted two safeties

My QB has 2 rings. Well, 3 if you want to get technical.

2012 NYG mock - 1: Dwayne Allen TE, 2: Brandon Boykin CB/RS, 3: A.J. Jenkins WR, 4: Vick Ballard RB, 5: Neiko Thorpe S, 6: Rishard Matthews WR/RS, 6: Blake DeChristopher G/T, 7: BPA

Bengals

Too much talent in this draft to trade away picks for one player even if it is Richardson
17 Konz
21 Gilmore
53 Doug Martin
84 Casey Hayward

by messjunk on Feb 19, 2012 3:19 AM EST reply actions

i think it's worth it for the Bengals

Best RB since the 2008 class. Cinci doesnt have a ton of needs and they do have plenty of picks, plus money to spend in FA.

by pcroadrage on Feb 19, 2012 3:38 AM EST up reply actions

I agree

Was moved up from 16 to 10 last year at the cost of their 2nd(49th pick). Pioli with KC is always looking to moved down in the drafts. Cin could offer the 17th and 53rd to move up to 11/12 depending on the coin flip. This would allow them to keep the 21st pick.

What a year! At least we have the Royals... Oh Wait!

by KSU-Chief on Feb 19, 2012 8:57 AM EST up reply actions

I'd love it if they moved up to 10 or 11 to grab DeCastro (just to make sure KC didn't snag him)

Then if they could move down from the 21st pick into the late 1st, early second and grab either Gilmore or Minnifield, I’d be pretty happy. Maybe target Martin/Turbin/Polk somewhere in 2-4.

by Animal_Like_Football on Feb 19, 2012 2:57 PM EST up reply actions

12 is too low for me

There’s a decent chance KC snags DeCastro. I’d prefer if they moved in front of them to ensure they either get him or Richardson.

I think Kansas will want to trade us even if he is available, they want a RT. Mike Adams

how about 11, 44 & a 5th for 17 & 21 at 11. At 21 Philly is really our only option for trade down with their 2 2nd rounders 21 for 46 & 51

by messjunk on Feb 19, 2012 5:05 PM EST up reply actions

easily one of the best Panthers drafts I've seen

but I don’t see Cincy doing that trade with us even with Richardson on the board. I also don’t believe Dwight Jones or Iloka will fall that far, but if they do, this draft is an instant A+

Lewis in the third is fine, Allen in the first is too

I’m not sure what the point of a guard is tho. Either an OT (one that can play on the right side) or no lineman at all.

Teams that draft guards and WILLs early do not win Super Bowls

Those are positions with low positional value. A team that drafts DEs constantly and then brings 4 to camp as UDFAs does not fuss over weakness at certain positions.

The difference between Boothe and Silatolu and Boley or Jacquian Williams and Lewis does not add anything to the team. Not as much as the difference between Brian Witherspoon and a good nickel CB or Ramses Barden and a guy like Marvin McNutt, still available at the end of the 3rd.

JimmyK did a good analysis of the Giants on the main page here that would be a good read for anyone doing mocks.

Jags

I think I would prefer Curry in the second. As for the third round pick, Toon is way overrated in my eyes, but it is obviously a good position to address with the pick.

Broncos

I don’t believe the Bengals will sign Mario Williams – I can’t attest to what their history is, but their reputation says they’re too cheap. I hope the Broncos are in on the bidding, but lately, Mike Brown’s got nothing on Pat Bowlen in the tightwad department.

Regarding the Broncos, Konz wouldn’t be bad for the Broncos. I’d rather have Lamar Miller or Zach Brown.

Fleener’s a miss for the Broncos. Your opinion that the Broncos need a TE contradicts the opinions of most informed Bronco fans. I know you feel this is a need for them but it really isn’t. And even if it was Fleener wouldn’t be the pick. We’d need a better blocker than Fleener. But the bottom line is, we don’t need to invest a second round pick on another tight end. Instead, you could give us Derek Wolfe, Harrison Smith, Kendall Reyes, Tommy Streeter or Doug Martin (if you don’t give us Miller in the first).

Audie Cole isn’t a bad pick based on our needs – but I suspect the Broncos wouldn’t go with a MLB before the fourth. Instead, you could give us Philip Blake to address the center need.

There's no way Khloe's a Kardashian. No frickin' way.

Would be a great draft for the Chiefs

Only issue is that our biggest need wasn’t addressed at RT but there might be a late round guy capable of being drafted for competition. This appears to be more BPA and I really love the picks. Our offense would be deep and potent.

by Jonathan Hake on Feb 19, 2012 11:29 AM EST reply actions

Solid draft for the Chiefs. I agree with Jonathan, an OT like Bobbie Massie might make more sense in round three. The OT need should be addressed sooner rather than later.

by Jonathan Hake on Feb 19, 2012 4:49 PM EST up reply actions

I don't know much about the Giants second round pick here

But we probably won’t take him. With this board, we’d either take Massie to play RT, Chris Polk to compliment Bradshaw, or (and my favorite option) Crick to add to our pass rush, making Osi expendable and a possible source of trade for another draft pick.

Steelers

I love the first two picks (although I doubt Burfict falls to us, and I also doubt we would take him), but the third pick is awful. A guard in the third would make this draft perfect, as long as it isn’t a huge reach.

Pats

Michael Floyd added to an offense which includes Gronk, Hernandez, Welker, and probably either Lloyd or Wayne? Scary. It could put a real damper on the only real plan thats worked against the Pats offense in 2011. Pats need an outside-the-numbers receiver.

I love Chase Minnifield, and I bet the Pats do too, but I bet they’d go for Fletcher Cox over him at 31st. They’ll have McCourty(sophmore), Arrington(junior), Moore(rookie), and Dowling(rookie) at CB; they need experience in the secondary, not youth. At DT/DE, however, they need youth.

Don’t mind Vinny Curry at mid-second; why not?

I don’t see why any team would go for DE Wolfe over Jared Crick at 63. Crick is a 2nd-round steal.

Don’t see the Pats going for an ILB. They got 3 good ones already.

Texans

The biggest needs are WR and NT, but Poe should be the only NT they look at in the first round. So I’d go Sanu in the first. second Josh Chapman then Dwight Jones in the third.

by Joe25 on Feb 19, 2012 1:29 PM EST reply actions

Did you look at the WR he took in the third

I don’t know much about him, but his stats are good. Complete red zone haus, a pretty decent two years worth of work. Just saw his projected combine numbers and this guy is not a burner, but nor is Sanu and if you can basically get the same style of player two rounds later I like that value.

While NT seems to be a big need, we lived with the second best D in the NFL. I would hardly suggest we need to reach on a nose tackle. There are three of them are we have a shot at drafting, in rounds 1-3.

I like Jones as well, the Juron Criner kid reminds me of Sanu but with better value. After researching the matter a little, I found that I really like Criner instead of Sanu. Two years of better production, it might be because Arizona is constantly losing and in need of passing. But his stats are better, while his physical skills are comparable.

Jets:

Hat it. We can’t risk another Gholston with Perry, he hasn’t shown anything besides his athletic ability yet. Upshaw is your safe, value pick at v3-4 OLB and the Jets should pick him if Ingram’s gone and he’s there. Also, we won’t pick a QB so early. Tannehill isn’t necessary because we can pick up a backup in FA or get one in the 6th or 7th. I do like Chris Polk, but by then, we should have drafted a safety, so it’s tainted.

But with a new OC, he deserves a solid chance to show that he still has it. He needs one more year. We can sign a solid backup, but drafting a promising rookie is just a waste of a pick.

Exactly, which is why the Skins won’t trade with the Rams or Vikes. They will look to Cleveland for the trade and Holmgren & Heckert will make the trade. People Cleveland is not expecting to reach an 8/8 season this next year, probably a 6-10, 7-9 at best. Looking for more talented players and there are found in the first two rounds.

Well, the majority on DBN want RGIII. I completely understand and if the team had more talent, I would agree and trade up for him. The reality is, my Browns still aren’t good – they’ve moved up from bad, and if the good drafting thats been going on in the last 2 years continues, 2014 could easily be a Browns playoff year, possibly getting to the big show finally. But you cannot leverage the whole building process for one player, if you dont have the talent to enable them to succeed.

Rams fan here...

we aren’t greedy. it will be a bidding war for rg3. someone will probably over pay for him, but that’s how it goes when there’s a rare QB there. You don’t want to give up 2 1’s, someone else will. if not, Kalil is fine by us.

okay, im not a rams fan.

but i think the rams would be completley content with having matt kalil.
your not only trading up for RG3 if your the skins
but your also taking away the rams 2 biggest needs, and the next 2 best prospects in Kalil and justin.
its like your saying its a punishment to keep the pick, when the rams would be better of having it.
you dont get the pick unless you give up 2 1’s.
clevland is a much more plausible trade up scenario
where the rams would get either blackmon or kalil. and theyd still get an extra first

Yeah

Browns and Skins fans are just so scared to make the move and lose picks for RGIII. But they don’t understand, it is going to take 2 1’s plus a little extra to get us to move away from a guaranteed Top 3 prospect.

Im just saying that they are asking more than what it's worth

seems more like a hostage situation than bargain. I just dont think a team is going to give up what they are demanding

how is it more than what its worth?

for what the rams are losing.
2 1’s and a 2 is fair.
they may get more than that if their is a bidding war.
hink your just looking at the chart when you should be looking at the situation.
the chart means nothing imo.
the rams are losing one of 2 top 5 prosopects that are dire needs for them if they trade to the skins.
the browns however, their first 3 picks in this draft will prob. do it (their 2 1’s and 2, maybe a future mid round pick to seal the deal)

but the chart doesn't work here

because we are talking about an elite QB prospect who is giving the best QB prospect since P. Manning a run for his money for the #1 pick. add to that a year after C. Newton popped off as a rookie w/similar attributes. depending on FA & the combine/pro days, this will most likely end up being a bidding war and someone will most likely over pay for a guy they believe is a franchise QB that they wont get sitting at #4 or #6 or whatever.

who the player is doesnt matter

the fact is that you are trading a pick, not a player, it doesnt matter who they pick. Teams arent going to give up a fortune to move up a handful of spots. I think the absolute most that the Rams will get is a 2nd and 3rd or 2 2nds to move back (unless it is someone outside of the top 10 trying to move up) I really dont see a bidding war happening. I’m sure Cleveland is interested in RGIII but they wont give up everything to move up 2 spots, thats just dumb. They typically are the type of team to move back.

by pcroadrage on Feb 23, 2012 2:10 PM EST up reply actions

seriously?

who the player they are jumping up to get and the players the team trading back is gonna miss out on plays a bigger role then the “draft value chart”. RGIII being there (or Luck if the Colts shock everyone) will have teams willing to bid more, compared to if a team wanted to move up to get Blackmon/Claiborne. Also the new cba and the Julio Jones trade shows the draft allowing teams to take chances trading away their picks for the best prospects

who the player is doesnt matter

the fact is that you are trading a pick, not a player

are you kidding?

that is all that matters.
if their is a great player available the price is much higher than if their were a reg. player.

i dont even know what else 2 say

u have vinny curry and bruce irvin drafted in the 2nd and 3rd rounds

dolphins
1st rd-martin is a likely pick but ingram is a possibility
2nd rd-wr isnt much of a need, FS TE LB DE are so martin fleener curry irvin spence and burfict would all be more suitable picks
3rd rd-i like adams but like i said wr isnt much of a need, so orson charles or george iloka or jayron hosley would be more suitable picks

Jags

Coples and Dennard, I like but I’d take any WR that was picked in the 3rd after the Jags over Toon.

Titans

Pretty good draft you have for us but we are pretty set at DT and WR is only a secondary need and could probably wait till 4th round or later. Our Big 3 areas of need are DE, S and OG/C

If your draft fell the way it does then we could draft these guys instead and I am sure all the Titans MCMers would love the following players:

1st (20) – Mark Barron, S
2nd (52) – Kevin Zeitler, OG or the Ben Jones, C pick you gave us
3rd (84) – Vinny Curry, DE

packers

not bad but i have one quibble…the packers are just not going to draft a rb in the first three rounds. they drafted a rb in the third last year, there isnt much value in rb’s, and the offense just does not need much talent there…or at least there are postions that need talent more and provide more value in the third round like s, interior oline, or ilb

2 guards for Dallas? Might as well just shoot me in the face.

Re-draft would look like:

Round 1 – Jenkins/Dre/Brockers (ambivalent between the three for now)
Round 2 – Vinny Curry (easiest re-do of all three)
Round 3 – Hosley/Phillip Blake/Brooks

If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.
