Four Round Mock
This is my second go at a mock draft and I made it just one round longer than the last and added some predicted comp picks. If you want to see the one from back in November go here. For the first two rounds I added a bit of my own commentary and then just listed the last two. I'm a bit exhausted from writing all this up so I'll just go ahead and give it after the jump. I'd love any feedback on how you felt I did.
Round 1
1. Indianapolis: Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
Peyton Manning has been the quarterback of my favorite team since I was thirteen - so basically my entire adult sporting life. I will be very sad to see him go but it is the right thing to do. I am excited to begin the Luck era in Indy and I hope, if he is healthy, that Manning can go somewhere where he has a chance to win right away.
2. Washington - from St. Louis: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
Washington trades up to get RG3 here and for the sake of this mock they give up their first, third and whatever else you think is fair in future picks. Shanahan has hinted at being able to adapt his offense to whatever franchise quarterback he can find. I think the Skins are the most desperate team from a FO/HC standpoint and will land Griffin. He may not be the classic QB Luck is but Shanahan can adjust his offense and make him a franchise guy.
3. Minnesota: Matt Kalil, OT, USC
The Vikings take the best prospect on the board and for them it fills a need. I could see them going WR but Kalil just makes more sense.
4. Cleveland: Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU
I think the Browns will make a run at Griffin but ultimately lose out and focus on continuing to build an outstanding defense. When you are picking in the top five I believe you should pick up the best talent available regardless of obvious need unless you are looking for a QB or have an elite talent at that spot. Cleveland doesn't particularly need a corner but adding an elite prospect like Claiborne across from Hayden is the kind of thing that can set up your defense for years. Claiborne is also the last elite prospect outside of Richardson left and since its hard to draft a RB in the top five you grab the CB.
5. Tampa Bay: Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State
This pick may not be what Bucs fans want due to other more obious needs. However when rebuilding a bad team you need to find a franchise quarterback and then get that quarterback help. Tampa already has Freeman and a line that is at least passable so they need to move on to upgrading his targets. Getting Blackmon moves Williams and Benn down one spot on the depth chart and makes the entire group better. The linebackers and secondary can be adressed later.
6. St. Louis - from Washington: Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa
In the same way Tampa Bay needs to suporrt and protect their young quarterback, St. Louis needs to find a way to help out Bradford. Rieff is a better prospect than any of the recievers available and in a deep reciever class they can find one in the second or third round. Reiff is a great run blocker and could play right tacke right away but has the skills needed to be a blindside protector should they want to move Saffold.
7. Jacksonville: Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford
I could write the exact same thing here I just wrote for St. Louis. They could either protect Gabbert better or give him a better target. Martin is better than any WR available here so he is the pick.
8. Miami: Courtney Upshaw, DE/OLB, Alabama
I think Miami will either go with Flynn or Manning this offseason and so will not be looking to get a quarterback here. If you are not drafting or supporting a quarterback in the top ten picks you should be drafting guys who get to the quarterback. Upshaw is the best outside rusher available and will be able to play opposite Wake in either the 4-3 or 3-4, whichever way they go.
9. Carolina: Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor
I was never a huge fan of Newton coming out but he has shown he definitely can get things done in the NFL. Finding a deep threat like Wright who can take advantage of Newton's fantastic arm would be a great pick for Carolina. Not only does it obviously open up big plays down the field it also stretches the defense which gives Newton more space to scramble. This may seem like a reach but I really don't think it is.
10. Buffalo: Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina
The number one priority for the Bills this offseason is finding a pass rusher. Coples has the athletic abilty to rush the passer from the 3-4 or 4-3 end position and would create nightmares for opposing offensive lines also trying to block Dareus and Williams.
11. Kansas City: Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
Its hard to find a fit for Richardson that takes into account his status as one of the few elite prospects available combined with the devaluation of running backs. Kansas City is as good a landing place as any as they have the ability to be a run first team and have a need for a second running back. A Richardson/Charles tandem would work very well together.
12. Seattle: Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M
This is not a reach in my very humble opinion. Tannehill has everything you want in a quarterback prospect - intelligence, arm strength, accuracy, size and athleticicm - but lacks only experience and a long track record. Seattle would be a good situation for him as he could sit behind Jackson for a year or two but Jackson isn't so good that he coudln't start day one if he proves worthy in camp. I am a huge fan of Tannehill and I think he has the potential to be a top 10 QB in the league in a few years.
13. Arizona: Mike Adams, OT, Ohio State
Adams will be one of the fastest risers this offseason as he shows off his potential to be that athletic blindside protector everyone craves. Arizona needs a left tackle of the future and #13 is not too high to take Adams if you believe he can be that guy.
14. Dallas: Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama
There are several other ways Dallas could go here but Kirkpatrick is among the best talents available and he fills a need. Dallas should be happy with this one.
15. Philadelphia: Michael Brockers, DT, LSU
This is a case where talent overwelms need. Philly could go OL or LB here but Brockers is simply the best prospect available and the Eagles do have a need for interior linemen. Brockers is a steal here.
16. New York Jets: Cordy Glenn, OT, Georgia
I list Glenn a tackle because I believe he is too nimble for a big man to be wasted inside. He may never be a left tackle, though I think he could pass there, he should be a very good run blocking right tackle for a long time. If the Jets want to be a smash mouth running team they need that mauling right tackle to lead the way.
17. Cincinnati - from Oakland: Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama
This may be a cliche 'just give the problem child to the Bengals' pick but it does fit. If you disregard the off the field stuff he is the best corner available and the Bengals need a corner.
18. San Diego: Kelechi Osemele, G/T, Iowa State
San Diego could fill some needs on defense but the Osemele would fill an imediate need at right tackle. He also offers enough upside beyond that in phisical tools to warant a mid first round pick.
19. Chicago: David DeCastro, G, Stanford
The Bears are going to be moving to a more run oreinted offense under the new regime and what better way to start that off by getting the best guard prospect to come around in a while. A DeCastro/Carimi right side will open up a great many holes for Forte for the next few years.
20. Tennessee: Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina
Jeffery falls a little to far in this mock so Tennesse gets good value here. Getting a target other than Britt for Locker should be near the top of the Titan's priority list.
21. Cincinnati: Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame
With two first round picks, Cinci has the luxury of getting a shiny new toy for their suprising franchise quarterback. Dalton may never be a guy like Manning or Brady who can make good wide recievers great but he can be championship level guy if able to distribute to weapons like Green and Floyd.
22. Cleveland - from Atlanta: Whitney Mercilus, DE, Illinois
Cleveland again adds defense and completes their pass defense foursome of Hayden, Claiborne, Sheard and Mercilus. The top four wideouts are already off the board so there is no need to reach for a guy like Sanu or Jones here when you can get someone similar in the second or third round.
23. Detroit: Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin
Konz is best long term at center and will be a very good one but he can help out Detroit in the short term at either guard or center. If one of the top four tackles were still available here I would go that way but since they aren't, getting the top center is the way to go.
24. Pittsburgh: Alameda Ta'amu, NT, Washington
Good nose tackles are incredibly hard to find and vital to Pittsburg's defense. Finding a replacement for Hoke in the short term and a long term starter is worth a first round investment. Ta'amu is a classic run stuffing nose tackle but he also brings some athletic abilty and a surprising amount of a pass rush.
25. Denver: Devon Still, DT, Penn State
The Broncos should press their strength on defense by adding an inside presense for their defensive line. Still is the type of player who can occupy and disrupt multiple blockers freeing up Miller, Dumervil and company to rush the passer.
26. Houston: Dontari Poe, NT, Memphis
The Texans will dance all the way to the podium here to draft Poe. He is a perfect physical specimen to be be a penetrating monster nose tackle in their scheme that could use a new starter.
27. New England - from New Orleans: Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina
With multiple picks Gilmore is the kind of high upside corner that the Pats can risk taking. If coached up right the could be a stud number one corner.
28. Green Bay: Nick Perry, DE/OLB, USC
Perry fills a need as the edge rusher opposite Mathews. He should have the ability to convert nicely to the 3-4 OLB position.
29. Baltimore: Vontaze Burfict, ILB, Arizona State
I don't really want to mock him here because everyone else is doing it but it makes too much sense and he is too talented to really fall any further.
30. San Francisco: Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers
San Fran takes the highest rated wideout on the board. Sanu's game also matches the big and physical style of the 49er offense.
31. New York Giants: Luke Kuechly, ILB, Boston College
There are a ton of opinions out there about Kuechly from a top ten pick to a third rounder. I feel top forty is about right and if a team needs a solid long term linebacker snatching him here isn't a bad idea.
32. New England: Melvin Ingram, DE, South Carolina
BB is known for his creative and varrying schemes on defense and Ingram would give him a pass rushing tool flexible enough to play in whatever type of alignment he sees fit for that week's matchup.
Atlanta -> Cleveland: Julio Jones
New Orleans -> New England: Mark Ingram
Oakland -> Cincinnati: Carson Palmer
Round 2
1. St. Louis: Dwight Jones, WR, North Carolina
After getting a tackle for Bradford in the first, the Rams go get a target for him. Jones has the size and catching radius to be a young quarterback's best friend and fits nicely among the other returning pass catchers in St. Louis.
2. Indianapolis: Kevin Zeitler, G/C, Wisconsin
I think Arians would love to get one of the top wide recievers with this pick but unfortuately they were all just gobbled up. Instead they pick from another spot of need and a prospect I love in Zeitler. He took reps as a center at the senoir bowl and could make the move there in the pros. He also could start right away at RG if Ijalana bumps Linkenbach out of his RT spot. Either way he is help for Luck and getting help for Luck should be Indy's priority in the top half of the draft.
3. Minnesota: Zach Brown, LB, North Carolina
Brown is a first round prospect that falls to the Vikings here at #35. The Vikes have other needs but they take the best available prospect if they can use him.
4. Tampa Bay: Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska
Dennard has seen his stock fall out of the first round lately but this feels a bit more right for a corner without elite measurables like he will put up. However he is a tough physical corner and will fit well in Tampa who needs corners.
5. Cleveland: Mark Barron, SS, Alabama
This may seem excessive piling on defense like this but I feel their unit could be something special if they focus on it until they find their francise QB - whether that is this year if McCoy plays better or next year when they draft a guy like Barkley. Barron would be an upgrade over Young at strong safety as Young is probably better suited for third safety or nickel corner duty.
6. Jacksonville: Casey Hayward, CB, Vanderbilt
Just like Indy, Jacksonville would probably like to find a number one wideout with this pick but the value doesn't match up with who is available. Hayward is the best abvailable corner with no charachter concerns.
7. Washington: Levy Adcock, OT, Oklahoma State
Adcock is a big thick tackle prospect who should play well right away at right tackle. He could someday move to left tackle if needed and that adds to his value.
8. Carolina: Orson Charles, TE, Georgia
Shockey is a free agent this year and isn't a long term option anyways. Charles allows Carolina to run their successful two tight end sets and is the best recieving weapon in this tight end class.
9. Buffalo: Brock Osweiler, QB, Arizona State
Buffalo is great match for Osweiler because he can develop without the pressure to start right away and gives the Bills as solid shot of a top tier NFL quarterback sometime in the future.
10. Miami: Nick Foles, QB, Arizona
Even though I think Miami will start a veteran quarterback this year they can take a developmental quarterback with solid upside in Foles. I'm not sold on him but he certainly has the tools that you can't teach and can explode into a quality starting quarterback if things fall right.
11. Seattle: Vinny Curry, DE/OLB, Marshall
Seattle should be looking for some help in the pass rush to augment what Clemons brings. Curry will bring the pass rush but you have to just hope he doesn't get Jerry Hughes syndrome as a 4-3 end.
12. Kansas City: Dont'a Hightower, ILB, Alabama
Inside linebacker may not be their greatest need but KC cannot pass up on a player like Hightower should he fall here.
13. Dallas: Markelle Martin, FS, Oklahoma State
There isn't a clear fit here for the Cowboys so they take the consensus top free safety and continue to upgrade their secondary.
14. Philadelphia: Audie Cole, ILB, North Carolina State
Cole is a personal favorite of mine and I think he will keep rising on draft boards due to his scheme flexiblity, tackling and overall length and athleticism. He is the type of guy you can draft into a 4-3 linebacking core with multiple holes and play him inside or outside.
15. New York Jets: David Wilson, RB, Virginia Tech
Wilson's speed and acceleration make him a perfect compliment to Greene's abilities in the backfield. Adding a massive tackle and more talent at running back will go a long way in revitalizing the Jets' running attack.
16. New England - from Oakland: Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississippi State
The Pats get really good value here with Cox as he is an impressive talent who can play either 3-4 end or 4-3 tackle.
17. San Diego: Jerel Worthy, DT, Michigan State
I have been trying to find a spot for Worthy for a while as I think he could be a first round talent but there hasn't been a great fit until now. Worthy has the penetrating skills and anchoring ability to play 3-4 end in the Chargers' scheme
18. Chicago: Brandon Thompson, DT, Clemson
The run on defensive tackles continues here with Thompson. There are some good players already in the interior of the Bears' defensive line but they are mainly rotation players or have been somewhat inconsistant. Getting a rock like Thompson to stick at 4-3 nose tackle would make everyone around him better including Chicago's fine edge rushers.
19. Philadelphia - from Arizona: Shea McClellin, DE/OLB, Boise State
I believe McClellin is a fantastic fit for Philadelphia's defense as he can hold his own in coverage but brings the abilty to rush the passer in blitzes. You could use Cole and McClellin interchangably in the Mike and Sam spots and and do alot of different coverages and blitzes with them in Philly's attacking 4-3.
20. Tennessee: Chase Minnifield, CB, Virginia
The Titans may lose their top corner through free agency and even if they don't Minnifield is a great value here and a scheme fit.
21. Cincinnati: Brandon Washington, G, Miami
After addressing their major need at CB and then getting a luxury pick, Cincinnati goes back to addressing another need. Washington is the highest rated guard and fits their heavy run blocking scheme.
22. Detroit: Andrew Datko, OT, Florida State
The Lions have a few other short term left tackle options that free them up to take the injury risk in Datko. He may not be fully healthy this coming season or ever but that fact is what allows Detroit to get a potential long term left tackle here late in the second round.
23. Atlanta: Amini Silatolu, OG, Midwestern State
Silatolu is an upside pick and has a chance to be an elite inside run blocker. I think he has enough athleticism to maybe even kick outside someday but at the very least will be a boon to Atlanta's interior running attack.
24. Pittsburgh: Matt McCants OT, Alabama-Birmingham
It looks like we are on another run here but this time with offensive linemen. McCants is one of the few tackles left with true NFL left tackle potential. They could go with Sanders here but I think McCants offers a bit more physically.
25. Denver: Jamell Fleming CB, Oklahoma
Denver's secondary played well this season but it really getting up there in age. Adding more young corner talent should be a major priority and Fleming fits that bill.
26. Houston: Rueben Randle WR, Louisiana State
I believe Randle is one of the more underrated wideouts in this year's class and will give Houston another true outside reciever opposite Johnson.
27. New Orleans: Bobby Wagner LB, Utah State
Wagner had been shooting up draft boards lately and would fill a need at linebacker for New Orleans. He is a better prospect than any of the offensive or defensive linemen available at this spot.
28. Green Bay: Harrison Smith SS, Notre Dame
I wasn't really sure were to go here so I thought this would be a good spot for the second best strong safety in the class as the Pack could use some safety help.
29. Baltimore: Zebrie Sanders OT, Florida State
Baltimore needs a long term option at left tackle and Sanders is one of the last guys with more than just a chance of becoming an NFL left tackle. There are a few other other guys I like who I could see becoming left tackles but you can draft Sanders with the actual intent of making him a left tackle.
30. San Francisco: Jayron Hosley, CB, Virginia Tech
One of the only things the 49er defense could actually use is some long term corner help. Hosley and some of the other corners have fallen further than I expected in this mock and so he presents good value here.
31. New York Giants: Dwayne Allen, TE, Clemson
The Giants don't really need a tight end but they could certianly fit one in and Allan is way too good of a value here to pass on.
32. New England: Ronnell Lewis, OLB/DE, Oklahoma
Lewis is a high motor guy with impresive physcial skills that Bilichick can make use of. He may not be a fantastic edge rusher but he should be a quality outside linebacker in New England's scheme.
Oakland -> New England: Joseph Barksdale and Taiwan Jones
Arizona -> Philadelphia: Kevin Kolb
Round 3
1. Indianapolis: Joe Adams, WR, Arkansas
2. St. Louis: Lamar Miller, RB, Miami
3. Minnesota: Cyrus Gray, RB, Texas A&M
4. Cleveland: Lavonte David, OLB, Nebraska
5. Tampa Bay: LaMichael James, RB, Oregon
6. St. Louis - from Washington: Travis Lewis, OLB, Oklahoma
7. Jacksonville: Jeff Fuller, WR, Texas A&M
8. Buffalo: Brandon Boykin, CB, Georgia
9. Miami: Lucas Nix, OT/G, Pitt
10. Chicago - from Carolina: Coryell Judie, CB, Texas A&M
11. Kansas City: Mitchell Schwartz, OT, California
12. Seattle: Chris Polk, RB, Washington
13. Philadelphia: Chandler Jones, DE, Syracuse
14. New York Jets: George Iloka, SS, Boise State
15. Oakland: Trumaine Johnson CB, Montana
16. San Diego: Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford
17. Chicago: Tommy Streeter, WR, Miami
18. Arizona: Ben Jones C, Georgia
19. Dallas: Billy Winn, DT/DE, Boise State
20. Tennessee: Mike Brewster, C, Ohio State
21. Cincinnati: Doug Martin RB, Boise State
22. Atlanta: Ladarius Green TE, UL Lafayette
23. Detroit: Sean Spence, OLB, Miami
24. Pittsburgh: Derek Wolfe, DT/DE, Cincinnati
25. Denver: Bernard Pierce, RB, Temple
26. Houston: Jared Crick, DT/DE, Nebraska
27. New Orleans: Andre Branch DE, Clemson
28. Green Bay: Kendall Reyes DT/DE, Connecticut
29. Baltimore: Brandon Taylor FS, Louisiana State
30. San Francisco: Philip Blake, C/G, Baylor
31. New York Giants: Nate Potter, OT, Boise State
32. New England: Ryan Broyles, WR, Oklahoma
Minnesota - Sidney Rice: Marvin McNutt, WR, Iowa
Oakland - Nnamdi Asomugha: Cliff Harris, CB, Oregon
Oakland - Zach Miller: James Carmon OT, Mississippi State
Round 4
1. St. Louis: Josh Chapman, NT, Alabama
2. Indianapolis: Donnie Fletcher, CB, Boston College
3. Minnesota: Juron Criner, WR, Arizona
4. Philadelphia - from Tampa Bay: Brandon Brooks OG, Miami (Ohio)
5. Cleveland: Markus Zusevics OT, Iowa
6. Jacksonville: Jarius Wright, WR, Arkansas
7. Washington: Chris Rainey WR/RB, Florida
8. Miami: Josh Norman CB, Coastal Carolina
9. Carolina: Senio Kelemete OG, Washington
10. Buffalo: Tony Bergstrom, OG, Utah
11. Seattle: Andre Branch, DE, Clemson
12. Kansas City: Brandon Weeden, QB, Oklahoma State
13. New York Jets: Cam Johnson, DE/OLB, Virginia
14. Washington - from Oakland: Josh Robinson, CB, Central Florida
15. San Diego: Bruce Irvin, DE/OLB, West Virginia
16. Chicago: Jake Bequette, DE, Arkansas
17. Arizona: Brandon Lindsey, DE/OLB, Pittsburgh
18. Dallas: Ryan Miller, G/T, Colorado
19. Philadelphia: Jeff Allen, OG, Illinois
20. Tennessee: Malik Jackson, DE, Tennessee
21. Cincinnati: Winston Guy Jr. SS, Kentucky
22. Detroit: Asa Jackson CB, California Poly
23. Cleveland - from Atlanta: Brian Quick WR, Appalachian State
24. Pittsburgh: Derek Dennis, OG, Temple
25. Denver: Kirk Cousins QB, Michigan State
26. Houston: Brandon Mosley, OT, Auburn
27. New Orleans: Joe Looney, OG, Wake Forest
28. Green Bay: Brett Roy, DT/DE/LB, Nevada
29. Buffalo - from Baltimore: Demario Davis, OLB, Arkansas State
30. San Francisco: Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech
31. New York Giants: Robert Turbin, RB, Utah State
32. New England: William Vlachos, C, Alabama
Indianapolis - Clint Session: Devon Wylie, WR, Fresno State
Minnesota - Ray Edwards: Kelvin Beachum, OG, Southern Methodist
Oakland - Robert Gallery: Rishaw Johnson OG, California (PA)
Dallas - Stephen Bowen: Tank Carder, ILB, TCU
Green Bay - Cullen Jenkins: Nick Toon, WR, Wisconsin
Green Bay - Daryn Colledge: David Molk, C, Michigan
Baltimore - Dawan Landry: Ishmaa'ily Kitchen, NT, Kent State
Atlanta -> Cleveland: Julio Jones
Oakland -> Washington: Jason Campbell
Tampa Bay -> Philadelphia: Luke Stocker
Baltimore -> Buffalo: Lee Evans

After watching the Senior Bowl practices and game, no freaking way Zebrie Sanders is going in the first 3 rounds. I’ll take Ronnell Lewis there please.
"Picture Me Rollin"
This. Prior to senior bowl I would have been ok with Sanders there, but his weaknesses got exploited badly during that week and I feel there’s better players available. Lewis being one of them. Haven’t seen enough of Brandon Taylor, but it’s a position of need so fine with it. Other options could be Mcnutt or Criner. Love the first pick.
On Ed Reed:

what is wrong with Mock drafts like this is there is not concept of BPA
all these drafts Mocks seem to just reach on positions of need. And that is the way you rock your team into the stone age reaching on positions that don’t meet the value of your pick while passing on better players
I think I did almost too much BPA. Which ones where reaches? And also mocks are supposed to be predictions of the actual draft where teams do draft based on need not purely BPA.

Ta'amu is a reach
IMO. I’m no scout but he floundered through the second half of the season, and though there were some good things I read about him regarding Senior Bowl week, I still think his disappearing act will scare teams away until round 2. Of course I could be way off, but the consensus as far as I’ve read around the internet seems this way. I think Poe is probably higher on the Steelers draft board if I had to guess.
Kuechly, Donta, and I’d go as far to say Zeitler all supercede Poe and Ta’amu.
P.S. I can’t see Osemele going before DeCastro. DeCastro has played against better competition, and while Osemele played tackle in college, the scouts and internet gurus covering the scouts mostly characterize him as a guard. Even if he can play tackle I’d think that DeCastro will be the more likely candidate to be ready day-1.

Well
people disagree wildly on BPA. Thus leading to wild screeching b*tch fests, and protestations, of “My team would never do that.”
And every year, someones team, does that.

I agree
sadly most people, tend to follow the herd, when making mocks though.

Bengals
Its okay just switch the Picks around, if DeCastro falls to 17 the Bengals will select him in a heartbeat, and if Jenkins is there at 21 they will also take him, also Brandon Washington is great value in Round 2, and Pead in the 3rd can do the trick
but Martin was available in round 3

I mostly hate this Bucs draft
but it is more because of how the picks fell than you making bad choices. I’d take Blackmon with claiborne gone. I might take Dennard there in the 2nd but I really don’t like him much. LMJ in the third is a solid pick.
Jets
I don’t agree with not taking a pass rusher in the first and second. So much talent this year, theres no reason to not double dip. I also think we’re set with running backs, not many people know if him, but Joe McKnight is gonna be a great third down back.
I think we’ll address RT in FA, and we’ll draft a large WR in the later rounds, along with a safety.
Just my two cents.

Jags
If Kendall Wright is good enough to take at #9…we might take him at #7. As you know, our receivers are BAD.
Also, I am waiting for the first Titans fan to tell you about Nate Washington. If Jeffery is BPA for them…so be it, but they have more than just Britt.
Bucs are a (very remote) possibility too
but man, #5, #7, and #9 are all really, really high. He is exactly the type of receiver we need (more so than Blackmon even though Blackmon is the better overall prospect) but it just seems like a HUGE, huge reach. Ultimately I think he ends up going late first round, but a killer combine could really surge him up boards.
This is all vey fair. I think I just see guys like Adams, Wright and Tannehill a bit differenty then most and I think there are indications some NFL guys do as well.

I'm secretly hoping Wright falls to the Bucs in round 2
but that’s a huge longshot and really just draft masturbating lol.
Wright could really stretch the field for us

Jags
1)I like the pick, but I am not sure the rationale is totally correct
2)Hate this pick, I do not see him as representing value at all. Hayward is alright, but when there are guys like Vinny Curry and Chase Minnifield(a much better cb) are there to be had, IDK how you can take Hayward
3)Awful pick on all accounts, Fuller is a total disappointment who has done horrors to his draft stock. I would not go near him until the 5th round at the very earliest. Streeter, McNutt and even a guy like Criner would be better WRs to take with the pick.
4)not a bad pick, but there might be guys I would prefer

I would come if this was the Giants draft.
Only one that I’d change is the 4th rounder….I’ll take Nick Toon. That’s probably because I don’t know too much about Turbin.

Titans
Not really happy to keep seeing us draft another CB just because it is possible that Finny leaves in FA. Until he does stop having us draft a CB, we have 2 good young corners in Jason McCourty (Better than his brother), and ATV. Also for the 1st rather have Mercilus, Konz or Barron and then McNutt WR from Iowa in the 2nd round.

Colts
I’d be shocked if the Colts passed on Dennard, Barron, or Minnifield for a guard, especially when you can get good right guards in the middle rounds and given how porous the secondary was last year. I’m ok with Adams and Fletcher, but I think you really whiffed on that second round pick.
I wrestled with this alot and I think we certainly could go that way. I think though as we change schemes and go through a rebuilding phase you don’t want to spend on a corner first. I think we should focus on getting young weapons and help for Luck while seeing what Pagano can do with what we have and get from later round picks and free agents. Powers, Thomas and Rucker all have the tools to be starters and maybe the new coaching staff can get more out of them.

Steelers
It’s okay, but I don’t love it. Ta’amu might be too big of a risk for the Steelers in the first. I wouldn’t mind them taking him in the 2nd or 3rd, but not the first. I think I’d rather have Kuelchy or Zeitler there.

Didnt Like the Eagles Draft
First, Give us Still over Brockers. Still can push a pocket with more effectivness we need a space Eater at DT and Brockers (while big) is most effective rushing, Still would be the better option to clog running lanes in the Wide 9. If we didn’t resign Desean Jackson that pick should be a WR (Michael Floyd, Alshon Jeffrey.)
2nd- We would trade up for Hightower if he has fallen like he has in your mock. I do like Audie Cole (just not in the 2nd).
Hightower and Dwayne Allen in the 2nd and this would be a great two rounds.
Still, Hightower, Dwayne Allen
ok, the giants suck.

Glenn seems to be a great fit at RT
Surprised I haven’t seen it before. Might be a good place for Tannenbaum to try something new and trade down a few spots.
2012 NYG mock - 1: Janoris Jenkins CB, 2: Kevin Zeitler G, 3: A.J. Jenkins, WR, 4: Neiko Thorpe S, 5: Vick Ballard RB, 6: Rishard Matthews WR, 6: some random LB, 7: BPA
As much as I love what the giants get here
its simply not going to happen… getting Kuelchy in the 30’s, when most have him going 12-16 and Dwayne Allen in the 60’s when he’s a borderline 1rst rounder or early 2nd rounder (in a year where the value of TEs in the NFL surely increased) doesnt seem realistic.
That being said, I’d LOVE to see it go this way. I still think they’re biggest needs or on the OL, but i’d take this talent if it fell to me every time.
agreed. It won't happen, but hell I'd have to change my pants if it did

exactly
u what though… i never thought Prince would fall to us either. Every year 1 or 2 guys fall way farther than they should, trying to predict it is almost impossible though. Noone mocked Prince to fall to the mid-teens last year.
Those are great BPA picks
You never know. Teams could shy away from Kuechly and Allen because of measurements. That’s why Laurinaitis fell to the 2nd. If you look at the recent high TEs, they are all huge targets. Pettigrew, Graham, Gronkowski, Rudolph. Allen is shorter and not exactly a burner.
While the Giants like size and speed, they would not ignore their production.
I don’t like Potter. He’s not physical enough to help us in our run game. I’d take Massie there, who you do not list, but probably forgot since he would likely go higher. I could also see McNutt, Norman the CB, or the big guard Brooks there.
Can’t say I’ve ever seen Turbin, but we will need a RB, and 4th on is a good spot.
2012 NYG mock - 1: Janoris Jenkins CB, 2: Kevin Zeitler G, 3: A.J. Jenkins, WR, 4: Neiko Thorpe S, 5: Vick Ballard RB, 6: Rishard Matthews WR, 6: some random LB, 7: BPA
I don't like Potter either. We both agree on that. I'd take Massie there too.

Actually what I was thinking was
In the 3rd, we take Bruce Irvin. He’s considers a first rounder by some, and if he fell to the Giants in the 3rd, I don’t see how we don’t pull the trigger on him.
didn't realize that. Don't want Irvin though unless we thought he could play SAM.
I think he’s a 3-4 OLB strictly….weighs only 245lbs so doubt he can do anything on the line.

Texans
There’s only one problem I have with this mock draft. If we got Poe in the 1st round, why the hell would we need Crick in the 3rd? I’d would rather take Juron Criner at that point.
Also one last thing to point out. Outside of compensatory picks, Oakland doesn’t have a 3rd round pick. They used that on Terrelle Pryor in the supplemental draft

Bengals
If DeCastro is on the board at 17, I don;t see how we pass on him. Jenkins could be a good fit at 21.
Vikings
1st—Love the Kalil pick. BPA and he fills a need.
2nd—Love the Brown pick. Not a huge area of need, but BPA for sure.
3rd—Still scratching my head. I know AP and TG were hurt at season’s end. But I expect them to be back in time for the season opener. We also have guys on the depth chart who can fill in. I am not against drafting a running back, just against it this early (I like Martin and Pierce much better than Gray). I would much rather address the secondary or DT at this point with George Iloka or Kendall Reyes, respectively.
3rd comp—McNutt would be good value here.
4th—Depending on what was taken in the 3rd, I’d probably go with the position not addressed here. So if Reyes were the Pick, I’d go Winston Guy Jr. here. Or if Iloka was the taken in the 3rd, I’d take Cam Johnson in the 4th and wait to take Toon with the 4th comp.
4th comp—Take Toon.

He's currently ahead of schedule in his rehab
But the time frame for recovery from that type of surgery is 8-9 months. He was injured in December.

RE: Cyrus Gray
I was under the assumption that AP would be out for the beginning of the year and might need to have a smaller workload as he ramps back up. I do really like Gerhart but he offers something different to what Gray would. Gray has great hands as a receiver and blocks well along with good speed so he would fit in as a third down back and change of pace compliment to Gerhart. Once AP comes back you would have:
Peterson- workhorse
Gerhart- short yardage and big back
Gray- passing downs and change of pace
By selecting Gray you would shore up your backfield in case AP takes a bit longer to come back and also give it a very well rounded feel when all three guys are up and running.

I really like Cole
I just think he’s a bit of a reach that high. Brockers is a stud but we absolutely need to go WR, or LB in the 1st. Like I said good job, its just that I think that Philly fans would burn down Radio City Music Hall if the draft panned out this way haha.
Carolina
This is honestly terrible. Kendall Wright @ 9? With the reasoning you gave, you described exactly what Steve Smith does. Carolina doesn’t really need a wideout, especially with their 1st. I’d much rather have Kirkpatrick there.
Orson Charles makes little sense, too. Did you forget Carolina has Greg Olsen? TE isn’t a need at all, and Shockey hasn’t been viewed as a long-term option at TE, but he’s a fantastic #2 to Olsen and should be brought back.
by Ol' Uncle Munnerlyn on Feb 2, 2012 3:42 PM EST reply actions
i agree
this was terrible. We dont need a deep threat we have Steve Smith, and Gettis and LaFell are solid #2 options. getting a TE in the 2nd is stupid. we already have 3 TEs under contract for next year, plus likely to resign Shockey. This whole draft was for offense and we need defense
I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was
I expected this response...
…and thats fine.
I know they have Steve Smith but I also know he is roughly 10 years older than Cam Newton so he isn’t the franchise QB/WR pairing you look for. Gettis and LaFell are solid options like was said but they aren’t long term number one options that should be a priority to pair with Newton. I also think Wright is a top 10-15 talent and you obviously don’t think so, so we aren’t going to come to a consensus on BPA value here.
I do know you have Greg Olsen. I also know your OC likes to run alot of two tight end sets that create mismatches. Shockey as he gets older/not resigned and the other tight ends on your roster do not give enough of that mismatch ability that Charles would certainly bring. I know this may just be a difference in philosophy but when you have a possible elite quarterback you get him weapons, weapons and more weapons and then fill in the rest. It worked in Indy and it is working now in Green Bay and New Orleans and can work in Carolina if they go this route.

No pick in the first for New Orleans
They screwed the pooch last year for Ingram and gave it up to New England.

Hard to like the Rams picks when the only thing we got back for losing Kalil was
a second pick in the 3rd round. That being said your positions for us were great. A LT, 2 OLBs and a DT are spot on. Lamar Miller would be fine as well. Thumbs up from me, eh?
Wolf. Wolfgang Wolf
Thanks
But don’t forget I said 1st and 3rd PLUS 2013 or 2014 picks for the reader to decide. But as far as this four round only two from thus year apply.

I know
without seeing the next year picks it’s difficult to like the trade is what i meant, like I said I like the picks we got. The way some of these mocks get attacked I didn’t want to appear to be nit picky. I’ve only made one mock in the past and it took me a week for a 1 rounder. To schizophrenic to get through them.
Wolf. Wolfgang Wolf
Also where'd you come up with the compensatories?
I know ct17 did a write up and some research on those comps, just want to tap all the sources of info out there. It used to be AdamJT13 that was the guru. He’s not done it this year or last though.

Cowboys
Not bad. Our secondary does need help and although Dre seems to be falling on draft boards, he still has a ton of potential. I still think I will probably like an OLB there around April, but I can’t hate too much on Dre there now.
In the second, Markelle Martin definitely could be enticing athletically considering that contrast to our safeties, but I am not sure he fits the mold of a Rob Ryan safety. I think I would rather have Fletcher Cox there.
In the third, Winn is an okay pick, but I would prefer Brewster (need and potential), Branch (way more potential), or Reyes (same position but more potential in my opinion).
In the fourth I don’t know much about Miller but I would say drafting Kirk Cousins there might be enticing to be our developmental QB.
If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.
If DeCastro is there at 17, I see it as a no brainer for the Bengals.

49ers
Good draft. I hope they go OL in the first round, but you took all my favorites off the board (Mike Adams, Kelechi, Konz, Cordy Glenn) so I can’t complain with going WR even though I’m not convinced Sanu is the BPA there.
We really don’t need CB depth as much as people think. We’re good there unless Rogers walks. I’d take Ronnell Lewis in the second round instead.
Love the Stephen Hill pick too, and I do believe they’ll take two WRs in the draft.
Thanks for the info on your corner situation. Would you be against taking one even if the value is really good?
Jason Heyward wins at baseball.
As a 49er fan, no.
And I’ll also disagree with GB9er a bit. We’ll be in DIRE need of a corner if Rogers walks, and we could definitely use some depth. Brown and Culliver aren’t bad, but they could be upgraded from, though Culliver was viewed as raw coming out so he should only get better after a promising rookie season. It’s a crap shoot after that with some of our fans (like me) saying it’s just a bunch of scrubs, and others saying we have a lot of hidden talent.
Long story short, I see no problem taking a corner in the 2nd, especially if the value is good; however, we do have bigger needs. One you addressed in the 1st/4th (like the picks), the other in the 3rd. Still will need a safety either to start if Goldson walks or for depth. LB depth and DL depth could be a need depending on who walks and stuff in FA. I liked your draft for us though.

here is my take
Fuller is just total disappointment so far who has really struggled recently. Major questions rise about how good he can actually be at the NFL level given how much he has struggled this year in the NCAA.
As for Hayward, he is an interesting player IMO and I do not dislike him, but you have him going WAY too early in my opinion. I view him as being terrible value in the second round. He is more of a 3rd-4th rounder in my eyes.

Hmm i take it you haven't carolina
defense this year? It sure does Sucks, 4th to last in scoring defense. But let their hole draft from your mock draft(your opinion) has them going all offense. Wow, they need a #2 cb, safety, guard, a future left tackle, etc. Kendall W is poor value at 9th overall. Markelle M, Jerel W, Brandon Thompson, Chase M are bpa and good value in the 2nd round over Ordinance Charles.
by adam carter on Feb 2, 2012 5:30 PM EST via mobile reply actions
My understanding of Carolina’s struggles on defense were due to injuries and youth at defensive tackle. If they get healthy, add a veteran defensive tackle to the developing current starters and then add some secondary help later in the draft or via free agency they will be very much improved.
If you have a Cam Newton that is the advantage you press. Steve Smith will be 33 next year and won’t be a premier option for much more of the heart of Newton’s career. There have been rumblings lately that Wright is the number one wideout on some NFL teams’ lists and will go much higher than people think. He is a fantastic match as that number one guy to grow with your franchise quarterback.
Jason Heyward wins at baseball.
Hmm Thomas D can't stay healthy at wlb
, 3 acl tears over the past 2 years. Not many player come back from Achilles injuries, only time will tell if beason will be the same player as before. Ron Edwards is average and aging. No #2 cb as captain m is a buckle at best. Branding gigantic is still unknown. Depending on injure to come back when they can get hurt again is stupid. I could care less about rumblings on kendall wright as any player is a hit or miss in the draft. Wright is poor value at 9th overall in my eyes. Their would be no kendall w without Robert griffin. Kendall W will have limitations in the NFL running shadow cross along not helping out in the red zone as teams are using 6’3-6"7 wr/tends to score every week.

Browns
I could agree completely wit this mock if, and only if the browns fill out other needs by the use of free angency. Two wide receivers are needed, another RB, and O line. One of the Jacksons @ WR (Vincent), and Bowe or Colston, Law Firm @ RB, and Grubbs on the O line. Then this draft would be awesome.
