Appleton Post Crescent - Wisconsin center Peter Konz looks like good prospect for NFL Draft
It was a harrowing experience for Peter Konz. Early in fourth quarter of the Wisconsin-Minnesota game on Nov. 12, the 6-foot-5, 315-pound Badgers center was blocking for Heisman Trophy finalist running back Montee Ball when a Golden Gophers linebacker tackled Ball and they landed on the back of Konz's legs.

Atlanta Journal Constitution - NFL Draft a waiting game for Falcons
Now’s the time for the Falcons to pay up on the Julio Jones deal. The franchise mortgaged part of the 2012 draft class (their first- and fourth-round picks) in the mega-deal with Cleveland to move up 21 spots last year.

Star-divide

Indianapolis Star - NFL offers 250 fans a chance to go inside NFL Combine in Indy
What's next for NFL fans? Entrance to a team's "war room" on the first day of the NFL Draft? Maybe a few hand-picked individuals sitting in the back of the meeting room while Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians and his staff finalize the game plan for an upcoming opponent.

National Football Post - Defensive prospects in need of a strong Combine
Who are the main defensive prospects that need a big Combine performance to really help push their draft stock…

CBS Sports - In combine week full of proving, these players have much to do
All eyes will be on Andrew Luck as he familiarizes himself with the environs in Indianapolis and Lucas Oil Stadium this week. Luck is widely expected to be the Colts' choice with the first overall pick in April's NFL Draft.

No offense to the NFL, but allowing fans to go to the combine is a terrible idea. Even more pressure in the pressure cooker for the athletes. Plus, I can only imagine how pissed off the coaches will be with people cheering.

agreeish

I agree in a way, but I’m not sure how much noise 250 people will make with all of the different things going on.

And if 250 people adds too much pressure to an athlete I don’t want him on my team.

Falcons: pretty ho-hum article from Atlanta Journal . Lets spice it up a little ...

here is the gist: Our Oline struggled as we attempted to open it up more. LT Sam Baker was voted our most disappointing player, but will be very difficult to replace without a first round pick.

MLB Curtis Lofton, cornerback Brent Grimes, and defensive end John Abraham are all free agents.
Abraham and TE Tony Gonzalez are old, and RB Michael Turner is old for a RB.

Young, relatively unknown replacements are currently on the roster for all but TE, but doing so could prove disastrous.

Ideally, we would like a new LT, and RG, future TE, quality pass-rusher, and a cover corner.
We don’t have a first round pick, or fourth due to the Julio Jones trade last yr.

The “point value” of all our picks combines is 526.8 points – roughly equivalent to the 34 pick. Trading up is not an option.

The best plan is to trade down. Trading our second would reap the most picks, but leave us without an elite talent.

Trading down from our 3rd round pick, may allow us to obtain two fourths, while still allowing us an opportunity to get an elite player who “slides” to the #55 pick.

Abraham’s a free agent too? Sheesh, that’s your 3 best defensive players all hitting free agency at the same time. Maybe the Eagles will have a shot at Lofton…

certainly possible.

the Falcons have the cash to pay most, if not all these guys, and without the ability to improve much in the draft, they may have to pay all these guys.

That being said, we drafted LB Akeem Dent in the 3rd round last yr, and at least our fans have confidence in him http://www.thefalcoholic.com/2012/2/5/2772267/why-akeem-dent-is-due-for-a-bigger-role-in-2012

They also have confidence in Dominique Franks, a former 5th rounder at corner, and may choose not pay Grimes after they spent so much to obtain CB Dunta Robinson.
