NFL Combine: With top QBs not throwing, Brock Osweiler could shine
The stage is set for Arizona State quarterback Brock Osweiler to steal this year's NFL Scouting Combine.
Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III and Ryan Tannehill, widely regarded as the top three quarterbacks in the 2012 NFL Draft, won't be throwing at the Combine. Luck and Griffin, secured top five picks, don't have to throw and Tannehill continues to rehab his foot. That leaves the door open for a quarterback to shine in Indianapolis during work outs Sunday.
Based solely on his natural ability, that player could Osweiler. We know Osweiler has the size and arm strength. What's uncertain is his accuracy. Throwing largely to receivers he doesn't have a rapport, Osweiler could help himself with a good showing. If he's on the mark and throwing with velocity, Osweiler's stock could go up considerably with so many teams needing a quarterback.
The Scouting Combine is just one part of the process. For Osweiler, it's the biggest after his game tape. Do well in Indianapolis and Osweiler could be this year's Christian Ponder or Jake Locker and hear his named called in the first round.

Can anyone explain to me what the hell the big deal is with throwing at the combine?
I never got why QB’s don’t want to throw. Is it because of fear of the others showing them up? Wanting to have the show to themselves at their pro day?
Seems like a pussy move when these guys back out.
"Picture Me Rollin"
At the pro days...
they are throwing to their own receivers, ones that they have a rapport. During the combine, they are throwing to guys they do not know, have had little practice with, and therefore do not have much faith in ability. Plus, with the case of Luck and RGIII, it puts more drama into the pro day, having it be the only time they will showcase their arm, drawing in more attention. It also gives them more time to tweak mechanics and work with specialists.

Would you want a bunch of WRs, TEs, and RBs
You have no rapport with making you look bad with incomplete passes?
Matt Stafford opted not to throw at the combine. His reasoning “In the NFL you don’t spend all year throwing to one set of receivers only to throw to guys you’ve never worked with on Sundays.”
Also, by not throwing until their pro days, more attention is given to the other guys on their team who will be there as well. It’s a way of throwing a bone to your teammates who are trying to make the NFL as well.
