Small School Transfers making an impact in April's Draft
Although people are very quick to write off a small school player, they sometimes forget to think about where the player was before the small school. A great example of that is North Alabama, this year alone. North Alabama is a roster that is filled up with guys that came from other schools. When Terry Bowden went to North Alabama in 2009 tons of players followed him. Yes, maybe some had issues with grades or run ins with the law, but Bowden helped build the roster up with solid players, coming in from NC State, Florida, Florida State and Georgia.
What people tend to realize is that when a player has a run-in with the law or is dismissed from a school for grades, they can still transfer to another school. Yes, a player can transfer to a Division 1 school, but that player would have to sit out the entire upcoming season, but if a player transferred to a school such as an FCS school, he could immediately begin playing with that team.
So here is a list of players that transferred to small schools, after something caused them to leave whether it had been grades, run in’s with the law or anything else.

Pellerin is a very intelligent player. He could be a great asset to an NFL club, because he is so intuned to the X’s and O’s.

BJ Coleman
Coleman got left in a bad situation because he got stuck with the Kiffin regime when he was recruited by David Cuttcliffe. The kid can throw the ball and is a great leader. He came back to play for his hometown college in Chattanooga and it was our best team in about 15 years.
I know, the kid is a good QB, the same with Aaron Corp, he was left out to dry. It is crazy to hear people talk about small school kids all the time, as if they can’t compete or they are not good, but what about these kids. Most of these kids will be in the NFL next year, at least in Camp. Many of them will be drafted.

Didn't change my perspective
Because if a guy can play, the scouts will find them. As long as you’re a producer (make plays) I’ll consider you. If you don’t have stats, you don’t get consideration.
Tag Team name for Sean Lee and Bruce Carter is RUSH HOUR
That’s makes sense, and I agree. I am a small school scout and to be honest with you, I was sick of hearing everyone talk about Level of Competition. When you look at these players, they did play for a D-1 school, but due to a bad choice or a coaching move, they were shafted. I really think that it is hard to cope with but they are ready to make a difference.

Planning to do film stuff
On both Coleman and Corp this week at some point. There’s a lot to like about Coleman’s game.

I know you are a beast at film break down and to be honest, you will like him. He sits in the pocket well and makes sound decisions. Keep up the good work by the way. I am a fan of your work.

What do you make of Corp's 17 TD 13 INT season in 2011?
Do you think that has more to do with him still developing as a player?
Tag Team name for Sean Lee and Bruce Carter is RUSH HOUR
Yes
I still believe that Corp is green around the edges. He could be a very good QB, I talked with his trainer yesterday who was saying that he has been very impressive. He might shock some people at the Combine. When you are getting taught something you have never seen before, it could ulitmately make you a better prospect. I think Corp could have a good combine, especially without Luck throwing.

Does he project to become future starter, like a Tony Romo
Or is he more of a back up QB type?
Tag Team name for Sean Lee and Bruce Carter is RUSH HOUR
Future starter but really raw
Corp was the #3 dual threat in the country out of HS. But he got stuck in between Mark Sanchez (also #1 pro style out of HS) and Matt Barkley (also #1 pro style out of HS) at USC – and broke his leg just before the season he had beat out Barkley for the starting QB job. He had a bad game (while his leg was still in a brace) in the 3rd game of that season and for whatever reason he believed Pete Carroll was out to get him and wouldn’t let him play. So he transferred to Richmond – and three days later Pete Carroll left USC.
The kid got caught up in big school recruiting garbage. He’s too raw for anything but the bench or practice squad for a year or two. A team with no questions about their current QB will be able to turn him into maximum compensatory pick trade bait (Matt Flynn). A team with questions about their current QB will likely draft him too early and start him too soon and he’ll bust.
The two dual threat QB's ahead of Corp in his HS class
were Cam Newton and Tyrod Taylor. So that’s four NFL QB’s – two of which have already been #1 draft picks and the third who will be next year. That’s basically his caliber – always playing second fiddle to a #1 franchise QB. But he’s still a starter if he can get out from the shadows
I like Corp
But i’m a little concerned about his arm strength.

I don’t think he is too weak to throw the ball, but I am not going to count out his Wide Outs. Tre his #1 Wide Out was a beast this year. He is a good all around player. Remember last year Justin Rogers of Richmond was drafted, Corp could be next.

I mean I think he's got
a Fitzpatrick type arm. But I think he’ll be drafted. It’s just the arm is borderline……………imo.

Essentially Matt Barkley happened.
Corp was the starter going into fall camp in ’09. He broke his fibula and Barkley overtook him for good. So he transferred to Richmond for the opportunity to play his last two years rather than ride the pine a la Matt Cassel. Link. via SC Playbook

You find football players where you find football players. The list of small school guys that have made it is very long. I’m a fan of Corp.

G.J. Kinne
Maybe you don’t consider Tulsa a “small school,” but Kinne’s another prospect who transferred.
Also, I wasn’t aware Matt Damon once played football for the Trojans.

Corp is wildly inconsistant
He had one game this year where he would have over 90% completion and throw for 300 yards and follow it up with a 4 int game. Talent is there for a starting QB in the NFL
