Here's a new mock

1. Indianapolis Colts - Stampede Blue

Andrew Luck | Quarterback | Stanford: Peyton will be gone, Andrew Luck is the consensus #1 pick

2. St. Louis Rams - Turf Show Times

Matt Kalil | Offensive tackle | Southern California: Sam Bradford needs to be protected in order to stay healthy for an entire season

3. Minnesota Vikings - Daily Norseman

Jonathan Martin | Stanford | Stanford: Christian Ponder needs to produce at a high level, especially if AP is not 100%. Best way to help him, is to protect him up front

4. Cleveland Browns - Dawgs By Nature

Robert Griffin III | Quarterback | Baylor: Colt had his chance, now it’s up to RG3

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Bucs Nation

Morris Claiborne | Cornerback | LSU: Rhonde is pretty much done and the CB position needs to addressed

6. Washington Redskins - Hogs Haven

Riley Reiff | Offensive tackle | Iowa: Welcome Peyton, here’s some protection

7. Jacksonville Jaguars - Big Cat Country

Justin Blackmon | Wide receiver | Oklahoma State: The Jags have MJD but they need to add another playmaker to the mix

8. Carolina Panthers - Cat Scratch Reader

Michael Brockers | Defensive tackle | LSU: The defense needs help. Starting up front is usually the best way to start

9. Miami Dolphins - The Phinsider

Quinton Coples | Defensive end | North Carolina: Miami missed out on the QB sweepstakes. In order to stay competitive there defense is going to need to step up. They need to start by replacing the retired Jason Taylor

10. Buffalo Bills - Buffalo Rumblings

Melvin Ingram | Defensive end/outside linebacker| South Carolina: Buffalo needs to add a playmaker on the defensive side of the ball

11. Kansas City Chiefs - Arrowhead Pride

Mike Adams | Offensive tackle | Ohio State: Tackle is there biggest need and based on just raw ability, Mike Adams may be the best one in the draft

12. Seattle Seahawks - Field Gulls

Nick Perry | 6'3, 250 pounds | DE | Southern California: Pete Carrol recruited him, now he’s going to draft him

13. Arizona Cardinals - Revenge Of The Birds

David DeCastro | Guard | Stanford: There offensive-line needs help. DeCastro is a top 10 talent who can immediately improve the interior of their offensive line

14. Dallas Cowboys - Blogging The Boys

Dre Kirkpatrick | CB | Alabama: CB is there biggest need and they have to be thrilled to have a CB of his caliber fall to them

15. Philadelphia Eagles - Bleeding Green Nation

Luke Kuechly | Middle linebacker: Linebacker play was a big reason the Eagles got off to such a slow start. Adding a solid tackler should really help out the other playmakers on defense

16. New York Jets - Gang Green Nation

Courtney Upshaw | Defensive end/outside linebacker | Alabama: You can talk about Sanchez all you want, but it was really the defense that let the Jets down this year. Rex Ryan will do everything in his power to improve that unit

17. Cincinnati Bengals (via Oakland Raiders) - Cincy Jungle

Trent Richardson | Running back| Alabama: Cedric Benson is a FA and will not return to the Bengals. They are fortunate to have Richardson fall in their laps

18. San Diego Chargers - Bolts From The Blue

Dont'a Hightower | Middle linebacker | Alabama: Phillip Rivers did not play great this year but the offense is still solid. Improving the defense will give them an even a better opportunity to take a winnable division

19. Chicago Bears - Windy City Gridiron

Michael Floyd | Wide receiver | Notre Dame: They need to resign Matt Forte and they need to give Cutler another playmaker

20. Tennessee Titans - Music City Miracles

Whitney Mercilus | Defensive end| Illinois: They would prefer to take an offensive tackle but because of the early run on offensive lineman, I can see them going for a defensive upgrade in round 1

21. Cincinnati Bengals - Cincy Jungle

Stephon Gilmore | Cornerback | South Carolina: CB is one of their biggest needs. The Bengals have a history if drafting big physical corners early and Gilmore is that player

22. Cleveland Browns (via Atlanta Falcons) - Dawgs By Nature

Kendall Wright | Wide receiver | Baylor: Ironic, first they take RG3 now they take his Baylor teammate

23. Detroit Lions - Pride Of Detroit

Janoris Jenkins | 5'11, 186 pounds | CB | North Alabama: Lions have a solid defensive front but the secondary can be improved.

24. Pittsburgh Steelers - Behind the Steel Curtain

Cordy Glenn | 6'5, 320 pounds | OT/G | Georgia: Steelers have struggled to stay healthy on the line for several years now, bringing in someone who can play multiple positions will be helpful

25. Denver Broncos - Mile High Report

Devon Still | Defensive tackle | Penn State: Teebow will get the headlines but the defense is who the Broncos are going to have to depend on for wins

26. Houston Texans - Battle Red Blog

Mohamed Sanu | 6'2, 218 pounds | WR | Rutgers: Too be honest, Houston has very little holes. Andre Johnson is great but has struggled to stay healthy so adding a security blanket on the other side will be helpful

27. New England Patriots (via New Orleans Saints) - Pats Pulpit

Dontari Poe | Defensive tackle | Memphis: NE made the Super bowl but the defense has been suspect all year long and needs to be improved

28. Green Bay Packers - Acme Packing Company

Fletcher Cox | Defensive tackle/end | Mississippi State: They have a great offense but the defense can be upgraded

29. Baltimore Ravens - Baltimore Beatdown

Peter Konz | Center | Wisconsin: Ben Grubbs future with Ravens is still up in the air so they will be happy to get a solid and versatile interior lineman who can play multiple positions.

30. San Francisco 49ers - Niners Nation

Alshon Jeffery | Wide receiver | South Carolina: After looking at the playoff tapes, the 49ers will realize they once again have to address the WR position

31.

New England Patriots - Pats Pulpit

Chase Minnifield | Cornerback | Virginia: They have a WR playing defense, enough said!!! It’s about time they address the CB position

32.

New York Giants - Big Blue View

Dwayne Allen | 6'4, 255 pounds | TE | Clemson: Giants have a long tradition of having stud tight ends and I’m sure they would love to keep that tradition going.

Actually it was just me

But I copied the MTD format so I could easily look @ the comments of what fan basis seemed to want there teams to take. Obviously, I could not get them all but I tried my best. In some cases, I still just stuck with my own judgement on some of the player rankings as well

Titans

Its Guard that we are looking for not Tackle, just a minor detail. Otherwise like the pick.

Thanks for the heads up

I’m glad that’s the case because I think a guard (other than DeCastro) would be a reach that early. I’m sure you can get a pretty good one in round 2 as well

Nice look to your mock

Blackmon is a good pick for the Jaguars

might be a nice pick

but he is a reach and is not worth the #7 pick. Quinton Coples please!!

not at all

Blackmon is the best WR but he is not worthy of a top 10 pick.

it is arguable whether he is the best WR in the class.

you are wrong

He lacks elite size or speed and honestly represents ATROCIOUS value before pick #10

6'1 is good size

He has 4.5 speed, he runs great routes, he has good hands, he isn’t a major diva.

Having these qualities makes him a top 10 pick because WR is a sought after position, he has no major concerns and little weaknesses.

Again, he will be a top 10 draft pick because he does represent good value. Your opinion is not what the majority of people think.

6’1 is good size

operative word there. Good size, not elite size

He has 4.5 speed

Once again, good not elite.

Possessing neither elite size or speed immediately excludes him from top 10 value. Throw in the depth at the WR position in this draft class, and he most definitely is not worth a top 20 pick in the draft.

Simply put, unless you are getting an insanely talented WR the likes of which come around once every 5+ years, the value is not there for a WR to be taken with a top 10 pick. It is that simple. WRs really are MUCH easier to find in later rounds, or even in UDFA.

I agree

that Blackmon would need to end up being elite (Calvin, Andre, Larry) to be worth #7. The guys below that level can be found in other rounds…

by CheapSeat on Feb 5, 2012 9:20 PM EST up reply actions

Really

Most comments I’ve seen say Blackman would be a good pick at this point. Any other WR that early might be a reach but I don’t think Blackman would really be considerd a reach, maybe I’m wrong

by biggie22 on Feb 5, 2012 10:28 AM EST up reply actions

Blackmon is a top 10 worthy draft pick

It would be absurd at this point in time to pass on him unless we get 3 great WRs in free agency.

so this is all about drafting for need

I guess you still think Matt Jones and Reggie Williams were the right picks to make since the need for WR was there.

You are being absurd

I never said let’s draft entirely on need. But that he is a top 10 draft pick consideration.

I honestly hate hyperbole when making a counterpoint. So no I didn’t.

Not advocating we should pick blackmon over Coples or whoever, but that we could pick blackmon.

you said that he is worth taking unless the Jags address the position in FA

pretty much saying draft him as long as there is a need. Pretty sure that is advocating drafting based on needs.

Ravens

Definitely a possibility if Grubbs leaves. I think eventually we would like him to play C and the only thing that concerns me about him is I noticed he has missed at least 2 games every year in college. I think Jeffery and Burfict would also get some serious attention.

Browns

Cleveland adresses the O-line, WR’s, RB’s, and SS in free agency. McCoy gets his full 2nd year to run the offense, with yet a OC this time (still not sure if Chilly is up to it).

Washington trades with Cleveland for RGIII.
Jacksonville trades with Cleveland for Blackmon

*Cleveland takes Coples/Ingram/Perry, all 4-3 DE’s and one of them goes there at #7.
*Uses its extra 2nd, 3rd, & 4th round picks to get back into the 1st at the 10-15 spots and take Hightower/Kuechly/Burflick
*Kirkpatrick/Gilmore/Minnefield – CB’s @#22

Browns won't get any players good enough to fill those holes in free agency

We really, really need a WR in the first round. No way would I trade away both RGIII and Blackmon. Colt sadly isn’t up to being an NFL starter.

I'm entitled to my opinion. Especially if I'm wrong.

by Aussie Brown on Feb 6, 2012 7:36 AM EST up reply actions

Well that may or may not be true, and I won’t know till I get the players there. There are quality #1 WR’s on the FA market and we can sign them. I would trade both chances to pick RGIII & Blackmon if I could get the quality free agents on the team and build a rock solid D like I said.

by J. W. on Feb 6, 2012 10:02 AM EST up reply actions

No, the Browns are simply unable to get quality FA's to come here

We can’t sign them. They do not want to play in Cleveland. You may not want to admit it but look at the history. Someone from Denver said the same in another thread. So your strategy falls flat because that premise is false.

I'm entitled to my opinion. Especially if I'm wrong.

I think they thought that last year when they traded out of the Julio Jones spot...

Skip WR, build the defense. Now its back to square one again. Would you really put McCoy through another year without a go to receiver?

Nope, and thats why we address true needs in free agency and address the rest in the draft. RGIII will not be able to play the WCO in his first year, and would get beat up pretty bad if the team didnt fix the broken areas, just like Colt did this past season.

Bengals - A. Nice Draft Biggie

I’m getting my hopes up to high that Richardson actually falls to us. Hard to see it going down like this though.

by Animal_Like_Football on Feb 5, 2012 3:22 PM EST reply actions

Mike Adams

game film is about late 2nd round pick. He is far too inconsitent for Pioli… If you had to draw up a picture perfect OT in the NFL he would look like Adams. Dude looks great in 1-1 drill and measurement but that isnt what Pioli drafts on.
With all the ILB’s, Richardson, Kirkpatrick and DeCastro left on the board, KC would look to move down. If they cant find a trade partner they wouldnt take a boom or bust OT, let alone the 4th OT in the draft over the best OG to come out of college in a long time. I think Pioli is happy with having Hudson replace Weig’s and keeping Lilja at LG but you dont take Adams over DeCastro in this situation.

What a year! At least we have the Royals... Oh Wait!

by KSU-Chief on Feb 5, 2012 3:22 PM EST reply actions

Fine Cowboys pick.

It would pretty much come down to Upshaw, Jenkins and Dre there. Dre and his size is a pick I can get behind as long as he shows up at the combine well.

No. god i wish i had a nickel for every time someone mocked a DT to the Panthers even though there head coach stated that DT isnt a need. lets also not forget that our GM is a big believer in BPA and Brockers is terrible value in the top 10

Actually most of Panthers nation seems to be leaning Brockers right now.

I may disagree with it, but it seems to be a real possiblity. Brockers could actually be BPA because of his potential. Rivera made that comment before Brockers declared for the draft. I still hope they go Kirpatrick or Reiff though.

Brockers is not a top 20 prospect IMO. I still doubt rivera goes against his word. it’s also just not a Hurney pick. Hurney rarely gambles and always hits in the 1st.

yea I dunno how people even think certain teams are a possibility

the Mannings don’t seem like people who would want to either play in the same division as each other (rules out the NFC East) or play in the same city/stadium, so that rules out the Jest. Its really weird how the two teams you hear about where Peyton’s going is the Redskins or Jest, the Jest are probably the last place he goes (aside from the Giants of course…) and the Redskins are also at the bottom of the list.

For some reason I think Miami is where he’s going. Stays in the AFC. Obviously need a QB and they’re really a decent team, the defense is solid there. And of course the NFC East and AFC East just played each other, so unless its the Bowl the Giants and Dolphins don’t play each other for a while, and it might possibly be when Peyton’s already retired.
