Rock out with your mock draft out: Evan Silva (RotoWorld.com)
Fantasy football website Rotoworld.com has steadily increased it's NFL draft coverage (including some pretty good Senior Bowl coverage), and recently came out with their first mock draft of the year.
Somewhat new to draft analysis, they bring a different perspective, in that they are keenly aware of team needs, and offer objective stats, and not just opinions to support those needs. Such as this little known fact : "In 11 years at Rutgers, Schiano's offenses finished with more rushing attempts than passes nine times." (in explaining the selection of Trent Richardson with the Buc's #5 pick).
They went out on a limb on a few picks, such as having wide receivers Chris Givens and Brian Quick (of Wake Forest and Appalachian State respectively) in their first round.
Another surprise is having Boise State RB Doug Martin joining fellow RBs Lamar Miller, and Trent Richardson in the first round.
But perhaps the biggest surprise is who fell; WR Justin Blackmon does not get selected until the Jets pick (#16). This contrasts greatly with those who have Blackmon going #2 overall to the Rams http://www.mockingthedraft.com/2012/1/17/2713736/most-overrated-draft-prospect-justin-blackmon
You can read all of Evan Silva's mock draft : http://rotoworld.com/articles/nfl/39842/60/mock-draft-10-blackmon-falls
Coples is the first defensive player to come off the board, to the Jaguars (#7).
Also noteworthy, is the selection of Riley Reiff with the third pick, Ryan Tannehill by the Washington Redskins (#6), and the selection of Kendall Wright by the Eagles (to replace free agent WR DeSean Jackson).
Of those not making their first round, several are notable:
South Carolina WR Alshon Jeffery, Arizona State LB Vontaze Burfict, North Carolina LB Zach Brown, Nebraska CB Alfonzo Dennard, Virginia CB Chase Minniefield, Michigan State DT Jerel Worthy, Clemson DE Andre Branch, Rutgers WR Mohamed Sanu, Alabama LB Dont'a Hightower, Wisconsin C Peter Konz, Iowa State T/G Kelechi Osemele.
Additionally, they do NOT have a tight end going in the first round. Something you can debate here: http://www.mockingthedraft.com/2012/1/30/2757972/will-at-te-go-in-the-first-round-in-the-2012-nfl-draft

Ravens
ummm yeah.Pretty sure we aren’t going Chris Givens first round.
On Ed Reed:
"I’ve told him to his face many times, ‘You’re the greatest safety ever to play the game,’"
"We all learn from each other, but we all learn most from him."
- Troy Polamalu
Why do say that?
I’m not being difficult; I’m genuinely curious.
Seems to me that the Ravens are one of the one-player away teams. I have their top needs as C and WR.
Do you disagree with the position or do you have something against Givens?

I would really laugh my ass off if the Eagles passed on Justin Blackmon to draft Kendall Wright
I mean you pass on a dude that’s somewhere in between Hakeem Nicks and Terrell Owens for a poor man’s Desean Jackson? LOL.
And the Giants most likely are not passing on Alshon Jeffrey. As good as Luke Kuechly is, the Giants problems in the Red Zone are real and getting a Plaxico Burress clone is a pretty good idea.
Or at least it would be a good idea in the completely ignorant occurance that he dropped that far. And Brian Quick and Chris Givens ahead of Jefffrey? Who the hell is this moron?
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
If Kuechly and Jeffery are there
I’d take the Pats second 1st rounder for our 1st next year and a little something else, maybe Osi.
My QB has 2 rings. Well, 3 if you want to get technical.
2012 NYG mock - 1: Janoris Jenkins CB, 2: Kevin Zeitler G, 3: A.J. Jenkins, WR, 4: Neiko Thorpe S, 5: Vick Ballard RB, 6: Rishard Matthews WR, 6: some random LB, 7: BPA
Seahawks
Silva thinks Red Bryant had a “disappointing contract season” and that Devon Still would be an upgrade at the 5-tech (rather than the 3-tech) position? Still is probably a good bet for the Seahawks but not for any of the reasons Silva suggested.

I give them credit for making some bold predictions
But not much else.
"At this point, what we got to lose, right? So we might as well throw caution to the wind and hit people in the face."
--Vikings DE Jared Allen
I like this mock.
How do you know they’re not just early?
This is kind of interesting…it’s a Kadar’s Top 50 from almost a year ago.
The comments about Von Miller are funny. Obviously, I can’t criticize any of the commenters for being wrong, because everyone’s wrong this time of year.
This comment…
Denver is drafting Peterson
…is interesting because of the commenter’s certainty.
The other thing that stands out are the number of commenters who aren’t on this site any longer.

Panthers
I love it. I might have a heart attack if Claiborne falls to us
I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was
Doesn't seem that outrageous to me
As a Jags fan I’ve had the team targeting Coples in the first and one of Jeffery, Randle, or Sanu in the second for quite some time. Works in this mock.
if claiborne is there n the first though
how do you pass him up?

Texans aren't drafting a CB at all, much less not in the 1st round
WR & NT are much bigger needs, & they’d gladly take Alshon Jeffery at #26

No way Claiborne
falls past Jags.

I doubt he falls past the Bucs
They’d much rather have Lamichael James in the 3rd round
