No CB for Baltimore in the 2nd round. That is maybe our strongest position next to DL. Would much rather have Brian Quick there. Other than that, very nice job. I am having a hard time though agreeing that the Ravens would pass on Konz, Glenn or Floyd at 29.

Bengals

Solid Draft Picks Overall for the Bengals
Just change

BJ Cunningham WR Michigan State for Marvin Jones WR Cal
Chandler Jones DE Syracuse for Casey Heyward DB Vanderbilt

Love the Bengals picks

only problem is that they are going to need to address OG early than the 5th unless they go out and sign Ben Grubbs or Carl Nicks.

Richardson and Gilmore in the first is a homerun as far as I’m concerned.

Steelers

What can a team possibly do with 3 young 1st round DEs? Konz or Hightower makes more sense there.

Great 2nd round pick. 3rd round pick is okay, I guess if his value is up. After that, you never pick an ILB but take another CB and OLB (which is less of a need than ILB).

Overall, an okay draft, but it ignores two major needs in ILB and G. I know you grabbed a G, but not until the 4th and that means he will be a project when we need a guy who can come in right away.

And I can guarantee

that Cliff Harris is not even on draft board. There is no way we even consider him

Jags

1)Good pick- Coples presents value and fills a need

2)Bad pick. IF Michael Floyd makes it down to the Jaguars second round pick, he WILL NOT be passed on. When a guy being considered by many the 2nd best WR is there in the second round for a team with a GIGANTIC need at WR, you do not have them passing on him.

3)Another bad pick. Not that he is bad value, but Vinny Curry and even Cam Johnson present much better value.Same could be said for Fleener and Boykin

4)Yuck!!! A QB in the 4th round is just not going to happen for the Jaguars. By the 4th, it is more filling needs and QB is not a need of the Jaguars. Senio Kelemete, Ryan Miller, Ladarius Green are a few better options at the pick.

5)Really solid pick. Excellent option to provide depth at LB and could prove to be a very useful addition to the team.

6)Don’t know this guy, but I figure he is not as good of a pick as Dwight Bentley or Mitch Schwartz or Tony Bergstrom or even Cliff Harris.

7)Not sure I like this pick either given the fact that a guys like Rishard Matthews and Marquis Maze is sitting there.

Chiefs

there would be anarchy if they went for another WR in the first round and rb in the second. We need a QB or OL. I do like Ta’ amu in the 3rd.

3 of the last 6 first round picks would be WR if we took Blackmon.

Also. 2 OLBs? I’d be surprised if we took any at all. One of the positions of good depth on this team. Like BM said. OL and QB are where need help. DBs as well. I’d be severely dissapointed if we didn’t use 1 pick on a DB.

I like the Jets' later picks in this one,

But I don’t think we’ll pass up on Richardson if he’s there. Doubt we’d go Mercilus if Perry is there, Rex probably already likes him. I don’t like Sanders and I’d rather go Toon, but I like the later picks.

Very good for the Bengals.

There may be a spot or two I disagree with, but you nailed down the needs overall.

Oh, and rec’d. Going 7 rounds in February is amazing.

Giants draft is OK

Allen is the ideal pick and Doug Martin is right there with Chris Polk as the ideal RB for the Giants to draft.

Iloka’s gigantic but I’m not sure where he fits. Rueben Randle’s a solid value there, I think he’s a 1st rounder if he had a decent QB. Both aren’t reaches, I like both players but I don’t really see the upside. Neither’s gonna start but their potential is meh.

JMJ seems like the token mid-round LBeezer the Giants like to draft. Seems like a Phillip Dillard clone (cut after a year or two…)

by Rorschach44 on Feb 8, 2012 5:06 PM EST reply actions

I think this is impressive for 7 rounds

The ideas are good. We have plenty of big safeties, I think another safety besides Iloka would be better. Hits most needs, has pretty good value with the picks.

My QB has 2 rings. Well, 3 if you want to get technical.

2012 NYG mock - 1: Dwayne Allen TE, 2: Brandon Boykin CB/RS, 3: A.J. Jenkins WR, 4: Vick Ballard RB, 5: Neiko Thorpe S, 6: Rishard Matthews WR/RS, 6: Blake DeChristopher G/T, 7: BPA

+1. Good mock....not perfect. My re-mock based on the board

1) Michael Floyd, WR
2) Doug Martin, RB
3) Ladarius Green, TE
4) Brandon Taylor, S
5) James Brown, OT
6) Brandon Brooks, OG
7) Justin Bethel, CB

Still, though…really solid job.

Holy crap Floyd is there

I’m with you on 1 & 2. I’d grab Taylor in the third, Tandy in the fourth, Koger in the fifth, one of a bunch of OL in the sixth. I see Reynolds there as well.

Brown looks good, but he is awfully small.

Brown is pretty technically sound. Nice footwork andbasically held his own in the 2 games of troy that I watched.

He is sorta small though. Figured he could be a nice backup to Beatty, and is certainly value in Round 5. Mayock rated him as like the 4th best OT in the draft.

Yeah, didn't see Floyd

I’m used to him just being gone by 15. No way Floyd falls to the 32 spot, that would be too unfair to the rest of the league, the Giants would have to forfeit their pick. Martin and Green in the 2nd & 3rd would be awesome, and our offense would be on the verge of unstoppable.

not ideal, but good

I don’t think this would be my absolutely ideal draft, but I would not complain.

I disagree with everyone else here. I think safety is a position they really need to upgrade.

Doubt Deon Grant comes back I don’t know what Tyler Sash is yet, especially in coverage, and who knows what happens to Chad Jones.

Right now if Rolle or Phillips got hurt it could be a very, very long year for the Giants in the back end, if they don’t shore up that position

Perry Fewell

Perry Fewell has used 3 S’s a lot. He did a lot of Safety/LB hybrid stuff when he was with Buffalo aswell, so it’s an important position for the Giants

I do like the Giants draft

Happy with Allen or Floyd in the first. Doug Martin would be a good 2nd for us although I have a man crush on LaMichael James who is still available for us in your mock. I like Randle as well. This mock draft could make the Giants go from dangerous to nearly unstoppable on the offensive side of the ball.

Bills

I like Upshaw a little better then Ingram, but not enough to argue with the pick. In round 2, I would give them Tannehill, Toon or for BPA Burfict. I hate seeing people project Fleener to the Bills in second but in the third either he or Curry are people the Bills would have a hard time passing. So are Irvin, and Randle at the end of the fourth, and Acho in the fifth.

Horrible Texans Draft

1st – WR Kendall Wright - He does not fit the Texans offense at all. One of the main responsibilities of the Texans #2 WR is to come in motion & block the backside DE on run plays. Wright would get killed trying to do this. If he can’t do Kevin Walter’s job, he’s useless as a #2 WR. They’ll take Mohammed Sanu or Dwight Jones instead.

2nd – S Robert Lester - The Texans will not take a safety this early. There’s a bigger need on defense & it’s NT. Dontari Poe just came off the board, but Alameda Ta’amu is the next best option & they’ll gladly take him

3rd – DE Jared Crick - DE is not that high of a need this early. They need depth & a possible future starter on the interior O-Line. Senio Kelemete would be a nice Guard prospect for the Texans

4th – TE Michael Egnew - If the Texans need another TE, they’d move James Casey back to TE instead of drafting one. We may need another WR, & Reuben Randle would be real nice this deep in the draft.

5th – DT/DE Kheeston Randall - This is where the Texans would look for depth at DE. I have no problem with this pick

6th – ILB Tank Carder - Depth at ILB is not really needed, but Phillips’ philosophy is that you can never have too many LBs, so this one fits

7th – WR Marquis Maze - I said that the Texans like their WRs big & tall, but for a return man I’ll make an exception. With Jacoby Jones pretty much on his way out & Trindon Holliday having not shown he can do the job, someone has to take over the KR/PR job, so this far into the draft Maze would be nice

Truthfully, I'd rather take Alshon Jeffery over Floyd any day.

Jeffery is just fat & lazy (allegedly), whereas Floyd has been busted for DUIs 3 times. I’m sure he’s gone drinking & driving more often than he’s been caught, so I’d rather not take that chance. I just hope someone else takes Wright before we do & leaves Jeffery on the board. Andre could whip him into shape & get his head right

Richardson

If he slips to 17, I’ll fly down to Seattle’s draft room and well… not to be violent… I’ll just say mean things about Pete Carroll and John Schnieder’s moms to their face and take over the rest of the draft… aside from that, this is a very decent 7 round draft… well done.

Cowboys

First round plays out horribly for the Cowboys all the good prospects are gone and only Jenkins is left. We don’t need a tackle, so in the second we’ll take Poe instead. Vinny Curry is a steal in the 3rd. I’ve never even heard of Josh LeRibeus, anyway Josh Norman would be a great pick in the 4th instead. In the 5th, WR isn’t a big need for us either, so Phil Blake would be a better pick. Brandon Brooks would be a great steal in the 6th too. TE isn’t a big need but I really like DeAngelo Peterson in the 7th. Props for a 7 rounder btw.

Poe, Burfict, or Martin would all be better choices.

Jones and Zeitler would also be better options. I just don’t see the Cowboys taking a tackle until the 5th or later. Most likely they will bring a guy in free agency to man the swing tackle position.

Ravens

Solid for the Ravens except the 2nd round. We have a lot of young talent there already and wouldn’t spend that high of a pick on one. Brewster, Quick, or Criner would be better than a CB. Other than that don’t really have a problem with the other picks.

Seahawks

Rec’d for 7 rounds – great effort!

The Seahawks traded their 5th this year away to get Lynch, so that pick goes to the Bills.

Seahawks needs: Pass rush/front 7 speed (DE, WLB, 3-tech DT), QB, RB, SLB/MLB, DL depth, WR, OG

On to the picks:
1) Brockers (DT) – I think he’s a better fit at 5-tech than 3-tech, but people that know better than I will make that call. I think this could easily be Richardson if he’s there at 12 – the entire offense is built around the run game and there’s no solid backup/successor to Lynch in place. Richardson would solve that. Other players to consider: Coples, Upshaw, Ingram, Still.

2) Miller (RB) – Hard to argue with this too much. Not sold on his receiving skills or blocking, but he’s great running the ball.

3) Foles (QB) – I’m really low on Foles for the Seahawks – I don’t think he’s careful enough with the ball to be Carroll’s point guard QB. Would prefer Cousins or Osweiller here.

4) Broyles (WR) – Not sold on Broyles, and still need to add to the front 7. Given the way this mock has played out, I’d go with one of McClellin, Bruce Irvin or Audie Cole.

5) Lynch (RB) – this is really the Bills pick.

6) Hillman (RB) – I know nothing about him, but I really doubt 2 RBs are selected in this draft. Would look for a flier on a big front-7 player. Maybe someone who could back up Bryant at 5tech DE.

7) Hardin (S) – I know nothing about him. Could use depth behind Thomas and Chancellor. Seems fine.

7) Wiggs (K) – I really really doubt they’ll take a kicker – Hauschka’s been fine and you can get a solid K off the street w/o blowing a pick on one. They’ll probably go BPA here?

Seahawks

Brockers although a solid player doesn’t fit what the Seahawks need, and you are right Senepol, he’s not a 3-tech in Seattle. I cant argue with Miller either… he runs too upright for my liking, but Lynch is main man so Miller good compliment. I would prefer taking a different player if Hillman (most underrated player in this draft). I understand the Foles pick and I like him, but I do think Cousins is better fit for Seattle. Based on what is available with your selections.

1) Richardson
2) Sean Spence
3) Chandler Jones
4) Broyles was a good pick here for us
5) -
6) Hillman… yes please even in drafting Richardson and with Lynch signed
7) Hardin, good value pick there
7) -— don’t have 2 7th rounders, we traded one away to get a lineman (Gioga##@*@@!) haha, can’t remember name at the moment.

Nice job for the Redskins....

Solid all the way thru (altho I would hope that they would jump at Brandon Washington if he was still around in the 3rd). Way to go the distance & good picks & analysis, rec.d

Eagles

Pass on everyone except the 1st pick (and if Blackmon falls towards the end of the top 10 he might be wearing green). But for the way the board fell I would go with this:
1.Trent Richardson
2.Vontaze Burfict
2.Marvin Mcnutt
3.Vinny Curry
4.Brock Osweiler
4.Bobby Wagner
5.Emmanuel Acho
6.Cliff Harris
Kudos though on how your board fell alot different from the common mocks that seem to all be the same, your board would make for a very fun draft.

Not sure why you would take Trent in the first...

Lady Gaga is one of the most electric players in the draft. Both backs should get 20+ carries a game and we all know that Andy Reid loves to pass the ball. I don’t think there would be enough touches for McCoy and Trent.

agree.

tho i think richardson will turn out to be the better back,
Gaga is no doubt atleast the 5th best back in this league.
it be like the giants grabbing another top 15 DE if we keep all 4 of the great ones we have.
id say burfict be your choice

Really like the Eagles draft

would much rather have orson charles/WR with that 2nd 2, but other than that can’t complain about LK, Spence, and Green. Although I don’t think Green will last that long

Sorry, nothing you did for the Broncos makes me happy.

Good job going 7 rounds though. And I’m sure you’re using your own board, too.

A lot is two words. Allot can be one word but it has another meaning.
The only time you really want to use "myself" is when you are the recipient of your own action. Usually you're better off using "me."
Your is not the correct contraction of you are. The word you're looking for is you're.
It's anyway, not anyways.

The Jets draft

is pretty solid. But I don’t think there’s any way they pass on T-Rich for Mercilus there.

Niners (Re)Draft

Sanu → Konz
I don’t think Konz falls past #23, but if he makes it through the other 10 teams that want him before us then we take him.
Nicks → Criner
With Konz on board Nicks is no longer a need and we can go back and address receiver.
Judie → I’d prefer Banks here but Judie wouldn’t be that bad a choice here.
Irvin → Taylor
Free safety is still a huge need and Bruce Irvin is a horrible system fit. He’s a situational rusher only in a system that doesn’t have room for one.
Ganaway → M. Jones
We are probably going to double dip at WR in the draft given how bad we are and how resistant we are to writing big FA checks.

6th and 7th round doesn’t matter. One is as good as the next.

Absolutely agree with selecting Konz first

Works as PBA and fills a position of need. The best center/interior lineman in the draft is an excellent value at #30. He can learn from Goodwin for a year or two and displace Snyder/Rachal at guard from day one.

This is a draft that has top wide receiver talent very thin at the top, but has multiple second tier receivers that should easily be available in rounds two to three; the niners can look to draft their wide receiver(s) there and/or later.

Gotta love a guy who posts a mock...

… then never bothers to grace us with his presence to address our feedback. What a douche, huh?

Nice feedback

I read the feedback and take it in to account for my next mock if I get around to making another one. What I don’t do is respond to all the comments, just stirs up arguments. And yes, I mostly use my own big board.

by BlueVol03 on Feb 20, 2012 11:25 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah, but this is the first comment to which you responded.

And I had to call you a name to get your attention. That’s not very courteous.

Just try explaining and leave it at that. If they don’t like your explanation, they can pound sand. It doesn’t have to be an argument. If we’re going to take the time to read your work and provide feedback on it, you should at least be courteous enough to acknowledge the feedback and explain your thoughts.

My question wasn’t even about a specific pick, it was just about the resources you used. No potential for arguments there. The reason I asked you about which big board you used was because I found your mock interesting. It didn’t simply regurgitate so much of the chalk and groupthink that normally pervades these things. I can’t tell you how interesting it is to see Luke Kuechly mocked to the Eagles A-GAIN. Yours was refreshing.

Falcons

first off, NICE WORK, 7 rounds
think you have to re-eval DTs: Dontari Poe, and Alameda Ta’amu , also did anyone mention Robert Lester didn’t declare?

2nd round : You did a good job on the Falcons, most know TE is going to be a need, and Orson Charles has been seen in a few first rounders, but is also realistic to slide to us in the second.
Have to give that pick an A.
Me personally, I would wait on TE and get a pass-rusher like Vinny Curry

3rd round: Jamell Fleming Vs Casey Hayward is something I am still trying to work out in my own mind….
you gave us Fleming, I am leaning Hayward.
Solid B

Falcons are without 1st and 4th rounders.

5th round: had you not went CB in the 3rd, I would have to go Josh Norman (doubt he is still available)
going “Best Available” you have to take Jonathan Massaquoi (who you have really under-valued as a 6th rounder) but the pick you made = Cyrus Gray is very likely to be picked around that spot, and I don’t have a problem with back-to-back 5th rounders (quizz rodgers last yr) looking for Michael Turners replacement
B- C+

I don’t believe I could do better in the 6th or 7th. great job

dolphins

1st rd-the first mock ive seen with decastro going to miami, probably one of the safest picks in the draft it makes sense
2nd rd-i really believe the qb position will be covered in FA, and the way the draft played out i would trade up 4 spots to get floyd but to stay in this spot datko or sanders would be good picks
3rd rd-i like the pick covers two needs in 1 pick cb and pr/kr. an interesting option here could be fleener or vinny curry
4th rd-good pick but by switching to a 4-3 scheme miami is short 1 position DE/OLB this would be a good place to draft one with mcclellin, lindsay, and irvin still on the board
5th rd-when switching from 3-4 to 4-3, 3-4 DE turn into 4-3 DT so miami is loaded at this postion but OLB to fit a 4-3 scheme is still a need so acho paige-moss or bradham would fit here
7th rd-i like the pick RB depth
overall great mock especially for a 7 rounder
