2 Round Mock 2.0

I will be doing trades, I am not 100% sure of the new trade-value chart so I may over/under value some trades.

Texans won't draft a CB at all in this draft

2nd round they’ll look at another WR, a NT, or an OG

Not a bad mick draft for the panthers, still

don’t like Dre kirkpatrick as a top 10 prospect. Hips aren’t very fluid enough to stay with quicker wr, inconsistent locating the ball in the air. Is a press zone cover corner, who is good with safety help. A sure tackled as well. I like alameda ta’amu over Jerel worthy. Juron Criner I like, add more weapons for newton.

If the Vikings could get

Reiff, Jeffrey, and Dennard I would do cartwheels all the way around my apartment. That would be an outstanding start to the draft. Reiff should be a good LT for 10+ years, Jeffrey would add a big, deep threat to the offense, and Dennard would go a long ways in solidifying our terrible secondary. Perfect scenario for the Vikes IMO

Packers

first pick is good, but the second pick isn’t. The Packers already have Bulaga, Sherrod and Newhouse. They don’t need a tackle.

by Yankees10 on Feb 9, 2012 10:57 PM EST reply actions

Partially agree

If Brockers is still on the board, that will be the pick at 28. I like Curry, but Brockers is much better value at 28, and in a few years he could be the best player in this draft.

But yeah, OT isn’t something we would pick in the second.

by Shoes31 on Feb 10, 2012 11:56 AM EST up reply actions

Thanks

About Brockers though, don’t you guys have B.J. Raji already to fill that spot?
Or does B.J. play a different spot in your scheme?

by indycolts21 on Feb 10, 2012 4:46 PM EST up reply actions

BJ plays NT for us

Brockers would be an ideal 34 DE for us, something we can definitely use. Picketts age is getting up there, and no one at RE produced all season long.

by Shoes31 on Feb 10, 2012 5:27 PM EST up reply actions

Colts

You have Indy passing on the best strong safety in the draft who will provide an upgrade and be, at worst, a solid safety and a pretty decent corner for a guard who plays too high and has trouble leveraging his hips? Don’t see it happening, especially since Pagano has a history as a secondary coach. You know he wants to revitalize that unit.

by TrueBlue87 on Feb 9, 2012 10:58 PM EST reply actions

This.

With Barron and Jeffery on the board, we take a G/RT?

We need to upgrade at WR and CB desperately, that much is clear. Both are great value at that point.

And I’m not a Rams fan, but the thought of them passing up Alshon at #33 with their lack of receiving weapons.. eh.

I don't have a right to an opinion, apparently.

by Ben Savage on Feb 10, 2012 4:30 AM EST up reply actions

Eh, I’m not wild about Jeffery. I don’t think he has the work ethic to compete at the NFL. It really troubles me how out of shape he was.

by TrueBlue87 on Feb 10, 2012 11:21 AM EST up reply actions

I see

Barron could be an option there, but I think that you have to protect Luck before building anything else. We have some good tackles and I think we should continue to build the line. Could get a Brandon Boykin in the 3rd to help out secondary and maybe a SS in the 4th.
Glenn also has been projected from mid-1 to early-2.

by indycolts21 on Feb 10, 2012 7:41 AM EST up reply actions

Glenn is also overrated and the Colts are really looking for a center and a right guard as far as the O-line goes since Joe Reitz played very well last year and established great chemistry with Costanzo. This isn’t a great center class and you can get a good right guard in the middle rounds. Further, this isn’t a good strong safety class either and the only one who would really be an upgrade over Caldwell/Lefedge would be Barron.

The secondary is easily the poorest unit on the Colts so if someone like Barron, Minnifield, or Dennard drop out of the first, you know the Colts are going snap that guy up.

by TrueBlue87 on Feb 10, 2012 11:20 AM EST up reply actions

I like the pick

I’m with indycolts on this one. Barron is a bit over rated in my opinion. He belongs in the mid-second, so he is only marginal from a value standpoint at #34. Jeffrey is tempting there, but they seem to really like Glenn. He did well at the Senior Bowl and I would actually be a little surprised if he lasts this long. Glenn could be a dominant RT or Guard to shore up the OL in front of Luck. If we are rebuilding I would rather start in the trenches.

by invisibulman on Feb 10, 2012 12:12 PM EST up reply actions

I just figure the Colts already have a good RT in Ijalana and 34 is too early to take a guard, especially since Reitz played so well last year. I also don’t like Glenn’s technique and the fact that he plays too high. NFL-caliber defensive linemen would abuse him.

by TrueBlue87 on Feb 10, 2012 1:57 PM EST up reply actions

But

I like the idea of trading down especially if it is only a few and we can still get a 1st round talent in Adams

by frankbob8 on Feb 10, 2012 12:14 AM EST up reply actions

I think

Adams is the kind of tackle Grimm loves. I don’t agree, but I think they keep Levi and draft Adams. If they are in love with Adams, I love this trade. just wish we could get our 2nd rounder back.

Giants

I could see this as a possibility.

My QB has 2 rings. Well, 3 if you want to get technical.

2012 NYG mock - 1: Dwayne Allen TE, 2: Brandon Boykin CB/RS, 3: A.J. Jenkins WR, 4: Vick Ballard RB, 5: Neiko Thorpe S, 6: Rishard Matthews WR/RS, 6: Blake DeChristopher G/T, 7: BPA

Chargers

Still or Jeffery at 18 please, both on your the board and both are way better than Mercilous. Ta’amu would have been my 2nd pick Markelle Martin or Polk could have also worked

If it only takes a 1st and a 2nd with a future third to get to RGIII and the Chiefs don't offer something more

You will have many pissed off fans. I know many fans that would right now hope the team is willing to give up 2 firsts and a 2nd for him.

by Jonathan Hake on Feb 9, 2012 11:59 PM EST reply actions

Seahawks

Dislike. We’ll franchise Lynch if needed. If we take a RB, it will be with a bonus 2nd round pick from a trade, or down in the third or fourth rounds.

I could see them taking a pass-rush DE or OLB or one of each in the first 2 rounds. Our defense needs speed in the front 7

by Chooch82 on Feb 10, 2012 3:56 AM EST reply actions

True...

…but with Coples, Upshaw and Ingram all off the board I don’t think there’s good pass-rush value at 11/12 – that’s too early for Perry, Mercilus, etc. Richardson is the clear BPA and provides great Lynch insurance/successor.

Might make more sense to trade back with an RB needy team that covets Richardson (Bengals?)

If there’s not a trade and the board falls this way, who should be the pick?

by Senepol on Feb 10, 2012 1:16 PM EST up reply actions

That's the million dollar question

If no one is willing to trade with us, I’d say Perry or Mercilus. Maybe Zack Brown if we don’t resign Leroy Hill (which seems likely) Honestly, I’m praying for someone to fall, or to trade down.

by Chooch82 on Feb 17, 2012 1:14 AM EST up reply actions

Bucs

Love Claiborne. I like Lavonte David, but I think that spot is way too early for him. I’d take either Barron or Osemele there. Probably Barron.

Toon is so not worth the 6th pick of the second round. Dennard and Criner are the guys I see going in the second that I think are better options

Like Still in the 1st a lot.

Not so crazy about Polk. I’d be surprised if he went in the 2nd after a poor week of practices at the senior bowl and a mediocre performance in the game. I think he goes in the 3rd round. I wouldn’t mind Doug Martin there instead who I would put ahead of Polk on a RB big board.

But I’m waiting to see all of ’em at the combine to be sure.

Texans will not take another CB

Not after drafting 4 in 2 years.

They will most likely shop the FA’s for a vetren corner. Manu, is over hyped and I prey the Texans don’t select him.

No

I would take Jeffery, over Sanu, or Floyd.

But I would like to see if they can get a nice FA WR, or perhaps even trading this pick for some of the “lesser” WR talent. I am a fan of Tommy Streeter, IDKY, but I think he has a skill set more closely resembling Dre then most of the other WR Prospects. I don’t think his hands are as solid as Dre’s were, are. I think it is a better value.

Well, I'd agree slightly there

He does have the speed advantage over the other WRs in the 1st except for Wright, but I don’t think he’s as physical as those WRs. However, Andre would gladly take a WR from The U under his wing

Vikings

I’m split on this one. I love the trade scenario, and I am good with still landing one of the top 3 OT’s in the process.

Jeffery is good value in the 2nd round, but I have been against a WR that early in the draft. If Jeffery drops some pounds before the combine and runs a 4.5 forty, then I will be more open to this scenario. Right now though, I think I would go with Mark Barron and the best DT available (Poe/Ta’amu/Worthy/Thompson) in round 2.

Seahawks

I think it would the worst idea in the world to let Lynch walk and then spend a high draft pick to replace him. I think Richardson is a possible pick at #12 (though not one I’d like) but not necessarily as a replacement for Lynch. The Seahawks FO wants (a) more “TD makers” and (b) more physical RB depth behind Lynch. Justin Forsett will probably walk, Lynch will probably get re-signed or franchised and there’s a spot on the roster for a guy like Richardson (or Polk) to back-up and, eventually, replace Lynch.

That said, I think the FO is going to focus on defense in the first couple of rounds with an eye towards getting more pass-rush from the front 7.

by Greetings from the Lord Humongous! on Feb 10, 2012 12:51 PM EST reply actions

Agreed

Really doubt they’ll let Lynch walk and hope Richardson falls into their laps.

Given this board, who do you see as the likely pick if not Richardson?

by Senepol on Feb 10, 2012 1:17 PM EST reply actions

I think they'd like to trade back (we only have 6 picks and the FO believes in quantity over quality)

and I think they’d take the same deal that Arizona gave to Cincinnati, but guys like Perry, Mercilus, Still and Brockers all seem like good fits.

Solid for us. Haven’t had Stephen Hill mocked to us yet, but he’s a guy who’s potential I like. I will be following him closely as he would be a great fit for our offense. Nice job.
