Mocking the Draft Live Draft Update #3
Hey guys. Just wanted to give you all one last update on the Live Draft taking place on Friday and Saturday. First thing to note is that all the spots are filled. Good job by you all to get your BPA's in and fill all the spots. It will make for a much smoother draft. Now onto some semantics.
- This is supposed to be as realistic as possible. If your team has 4 RBs on their roster signed long term and they are all decent, don't pick an RB. If your team has said they won't pick a player, don't pick him. It is as simple as that. Try and follow your teams drafting style (BPA/Need) to the best of your abilities.
- The Draft will start at 7PM sharp on Friday night and 2:30 sharp on Saturday afternoon. These are both Eastern times.
- In the last thread I originally said future (2013) picks will count as half of their 2012 value but upon further research, they typically count for one round lower. For example, if the Seahawks traded their 2013 first round pick, it would be equivalent to the 2012 12th pick in the draft.
Use this thread to let people know if you are interested in moving up/down and all that fun stuff.

This is my first post and my first mock. Open to all remarks
10 players I hate more than you
1. Ryan Tannehill: I believe Tannehill will be a first round pick, and feel this is a mistake. 16 career starts at Quarterback, and I really don't count his starts a WR. It's not the same as a DB who played CB as a fresh/soph, and then moved to safety. QB is the most important on a NFL team, and college football is the NFL's minor league. QBs need as much time (experience) in the minor leagues as possible. Cam Newton is the exception, not the only exception, but one of the very few exceptions to the Rule of 26-27-60 (helps predict NFL quarterback success or failure, based on -among other things- QB starts in college). Tannehill's ceiling is somewhere along the lines of Tony Romo/Jake Plummer, but his floor could be much lower.
2. Kendall Wright: I have posted this already: http://www.mockingthedraft.com/2012/1/20/2721413/kendall-wright-does-size-matter ?
Dan’s buddies at www.newerascouting.com begins their analysis of Wright like this :
"By today’s wide receiver standards, it is very rare to be less than six feet tall and a first-round draft pick. During the last decade, there were 41 wide receivers drafted in the first-round, and only six of those players were shorter than six feet. NFL scouts and coaches have an infatuation with height at the wide receiver position, and will usually give the edge to a taller wide receiver if he performs similarly in other areas."
Is this four-year starter worthy of being selected in the first round? They conclude yes, Wright "is worthy of being one of the rare first-round selections of a WR under six feet tall."
I study draft history and tendencies quite a bit, and I agree with their analysis, but not their conclusion.
IMO Kendall Wright will NOT be a first round draft choice.
Speaking of size...
3. Janoris Jenkins: If Jenkins is drafted in the first round, he will be the first CB under 5-10 drafted in the first since before 2000.
Now, some NFL.com may have rounded up on a few, but every CB drafted in the first round since 2000 (that is as far back as I went) has been listed 5-10 or taller.
Jenkins is very, very close to that magic number, and additionally one could argue Brandon Flowers should have been drafted in the first.
I am not saying he can’t be a great player, I am just recognizing that the NFL does frequently follow sterotypes, and personally, I will continue to keep Jenkins outside of my 1st round.
4. Alfonzo Dennard: As I have mentioned here http://www.mockingthedraft.com/2012/1/20/2721318/for-those-about-to-mock-we-salute-you-2012-edition Last year, I stated that Brandon Harris was one of my 16 guaranteed to be drafted in the first round, ignoring his poor performance against the much larger Michael Floyd in the bowl game. This year Dennard was exposed in a similar fashion by the much larger Alshon Jeffery.
5. Mark Barron: Way before his double-hernia surgery, I have been preaching Barron as a high second, but not a first round pick. I have stated before that although "the NFL is looking for safeties capable of matching up against the Jimmy Smiths and Gronks of the modern NFL......Barron is not one of those safeties" Well coached, disciplined, and has played with and against alot of NFL quality players, but he just isn't the "freak" it takes to match up with Gronk n Jimmy.
6. Dontari Poe: It's not that I don't like Poe, as much as I like Alameda Ta'amu better, and If I had to get a NT, I would rather see if I could get Josh Chapman somewhere between picks 55 and 70, who played with a torn ACL for the last eight games of the 2011 season.
7. Luke Kuechly: Only once in the last 10 years has more than one ILB been a first round pick (except for position switches later in a career), and recently Rey Maualuga, James Laurinaitis, Paul Posluszny, and Brandon Spikes (among others) have all found themselves in the second round. For as great as Kuechly has been, Laurinaitis and Posluszny were nearly his equal. I don't believe I have seen a mock draft without Kuechly in the first round. I guess mine will ge the first?
8. Donta Hightower: Again, it is rare to see more than one ILB go in the first round, but more importantly, Hightower is slow. We have read this book before, and Brandon Spikes and Maualuga entered their senior years with a higher grade than Hightower.
9. Brandon Weeden: Once again, we have read this book before (Chris Weinke 4167 yards as a senior) = 4th round
Maybe I don't hate him more than you, since 65% of you said you would not spend a first or second round pick on him: http://www.mockingthedraft.com/2012/1/25/2731811/2012-senior-bowl-brandon-weeden-looks-sharp-but-does-it-matter Here was my quote: "lets take Chad Henne…..below average NFL QB, now lets send him back to college, replace Geno Smith at WVU with Chad Henne. The man might break every record there is"
It is almost an unfair advantage to have a 26-28 year old QB playing in college, his maturity/discipline coupled with one of the best offensive systems has lead me to doubt not only Weeden, but also....
10. Justin Blackmon: I called him the most overrated prospect in the draft, http://www.mockingthedraft.com/2012/1/17/2713736/most-overrated-draft-prospect-justin-blackmon since he was commonly mocked to be drafted by the Rams with the second pick. But I do feel like he is the best WR in THIS draft, just not in the same class as Fitzgerald, Calvin and Andre Johnson, or AJ Green and Julio. He is a very good player, however he is benefiting from the Dana Holgorson/Mike Gundy offense, and having a 28 year old quarterback.
Blackmon is the only one on my hate list that I still have as a first round pick, and I would take him in the top 12 for sure, perhaps top 6-10 if he runs faster than expected, but not top 5.

Crash's Mock Draft
First Round mock (W/Trades). Just the picks for now, I'll go more in-depth in later mocks.
1.Indianapolis- Andrew Luck: QB, Stanford
2.Washington (via St.Louis)- Robert Griffin III: QB, Baylor
I think they miss out on Peyton Manning and Matt Flynn so Dan Snyder throws an offer at the Rams they can't turn down
3.Minnesota- Matt Kalil: OT, USC
4.Cleveland- Trent Richardson: RB, Alabama
5.Tampa Bay- Morris Claiborne: CB, LSU
6.St. Louis Rams- Justin Blackmon: WR, Oklahoma State
7.Jacksonville- Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa
8.Carolina- Michael Brockers: DT, LSU
9.Miami- Jonathan Martin: OT, Stanford
10.Buffalo- Quinton Coples: DE, UNC
11.Kansas City- David DeCastro: OG, Stanford
12.Baltimore (via Seattle)- Luke Kuechly, LB, Boston College
Seattle will trade back w/Baltimore who will draft Adams to replace the aging McKinnie
13.Arizona- Melvin Ingram: DE, South Carolina
14.Dallas- Janoris Jenkins:CB, North Alabama
15.Philadelphia- Michael Floyd: WR, Notre Damn
16.New York Jets-Courtney Upshaw: OLB, Alabama
17.Cincinnati-Mark Barron: S, Alabama
18.San Diego- Mike Adams: OT, Ohio State
19.Chicago- Kendall Wright: WR, Baylor
20.Tennessee- Cordy Glenn: OG, Georgia
21.Cincinnati- Dre Kirkpatrick: CB, Alabama
22.Cleveland-Alshon Jeffery: WR, South Carolina
23.Detroit- Whitney Mercilus: DE, Illinois
24.Pittsburgh- Dontari Poe: DT, Memphis
25.Denver- Lamar Miller: RB, Miami
26.Houston- Peter Konz: C, Wisconson
27.New England- Alfonzo Dennard: CB, Nebraska
28.Green Bay-Nick Perry: DE/OLB, USC
29.Seattle (via Baltimore): Ryan Tannehill: QB, Texas A&M
30.Tampa Bay (via San Francisco): Mohamed Sanu: WR, Rutgers
With Greg Schiano as the new HC in Tampa I have a sneaky suspicion that Tampa will move back up to snatch Sanu.
31.New England- Vontaze Burfict: LB, Arizona State
32. New York Giants- Dwayne Allen: TE, Clemson
2012 Mock Draft (3 Rounds) Version 3.0
As I looked over feedback from the quick 1-rounder I posted Friday, I decided it was better to rework the first round for my next installment of a 3 round mock.
A few notable FA signings:
- Matt Flynn to Miami
- Stevie Johnson remains in Buffalo
- Dwayne Bowe franchised by Kansas City
- Marques Colston to the Jags(I think Gene Smith is going to throw enough money Colston’s way that he is going to leave NO)
- Desean Jackson to Washington(call me crazy, but I feel like whatever is said publicly about Snyder’s involvement is irrelevant as he is going to push all the buttons to get a guy like Desean Jackson onto his team’s roster)
- Cortland Finnegan to St. Louis
- Vincent Jackson remains in San Diego
- Manningham to Indianapolis(Indy is going to need to bring in at least one good WR for Luck and I have a gut feeling Manningham might be that guy- and neither his last name resembling Peyton’s nor his big game in Indy have anything to do with this)
TRADES:
- Seattle trades #12, #43, and a 2012 first rounder to St. Louis for #2:Seattle makes a gutsy move up for RG III
- Philadelphia trades #14 and #46 to Jacksonville for #7: I know all of you people out there are going to bash me for me making a trade down for my Jags and netting picks, but the truth of the matter is that I feel that with Desean leaving, and with 2 2nd rounders, Philly might be tempted to move up for the #1 WR when he falls to the Jaguars, a team that could very well take him
- Denver trades #25 and #89 to Chicago for #19: JD Walton is seemingly not the long term answer at C, and Denver sees an opportunity to move up 6 spots and snag the top C in the draft, prior to Tennessee who could very well take Konz if he makes it to #20
- Washington trades #39 and #103 to New England for #31: Washington moves up into the bottom of the first round to get a guy who they believe can become their franchise QB

Mock draft from across the Pond.
1. COLTS - PICK - ANDREW LUCK QB : Worst kept secret in the NFL, Colts will grab Luck.
2. RAMS - PICK - MATT KALIL LT : Most people have Rams trading but this is why i don't think this will happen. I think the Vikings will under cut the Rams for the RG3 battle and I see a few teams already dealing on Flynn, Orton and Manning so they wont get good enough value for the 2nd pick. Clever buisness by the Rams is as Smith is owed bug bucks, Release him and move Saffold to RT and Kalil can be Bradfords protection from here on out.
3. REDSKINS - TRADE UP 3 - ROBERT GRIFFIN III QB : Shanahan needs this to pay off big time. After getting a better deal off the Vikings they Give away their 2nd round pick this year and next year for the Baylor man.
4. BROWNS - PICK - JUSTIN BLACKMON WR : Strong and makes yards after the catch. Colt now has a number 1 reciever so no excuses.
5. BUCCANEERS - PICK - MORRIS CLAIBOURNE CB : A big player for Tampa, thier defense was a joke end of last year. Massive value taking Morris at 5.
6. VIKINGS - TRADE DOWN 3 - JONATHAN MARTIN LT : Ponder does more running around than Peterson. They trade down and still their man. Left tackle is a must here.
7. JAGUARS - PICK - QUINTON COPLES DE : A Lad from just north of the boarder, this pick will please most Jag fans for Value. With the Wide Receiver depth in Free agency so good, it means picking up Floyd, Wright or Jeffery here at 7 is not great value (unless Blackmon is available of course). Picking up the best DE pass rusher will help Jacksonville turn their defense around next year.
8. PATHERS - PICK - DRE KIRKPATRICK CB : I really don't think Carolina's defence will be as bad next year. With Beason and Davis back, along with Neblett now looking a player at DT they have quality there. With that tho one player stands out as a Value pick on Defence, thats Dre Kirkpatrick. To me he's a Top 10 pick without question. A hard hitting tackler, with height, i see Dre being better Value than any other of their needs.
9. DOLPHINS - PICK - DEVON STILL DT : Switching to a 4-3 will see Devon Still play alongside Former teammate of Jared Odrick next season through the Middle.
10. BILLS - PICK - MICHAEL BROCKERS DE : This man is a Monster. Can play anywhere along the frontline. Can pass rush, and has the technique, speed and strengh to be anything the Bills want him to be. Now in a 4-3 i see him starting DE.
11. CHIEFS - PICK - RILEY REIFF RT : Falls nicely to them if they wanna take him. Upgrade on Richardson, better defence options in the second.
12. SEAHAWKS - PICK - LUKE KUECHLY MLB : This is a bold shout but this is how i see this panning out. Seattle need to do everything to tie up Marshawn Lynch, that may include letting go of some players that would be easier to replace. Hawthorne is a nice linebacker but will he be worth the contract he wants. I see Seattle passing on him putting there efforts into resigning their younger players and more importantly Marshawn Lynch. By letting Hawthorne go they take Kuechly, who is a clever and much Valued pick at 12.
13. CARDINALS - PICK - DAVID DECASTRO OG : If this player drops this low, Cardinals pull the Trigger on this Future Pro Bowler.
14. BENGALS - TRADE UP 3 - TRENT RICHARDSON RB : If Trent falls outside the top 10 then the Bengals should trade up to get him. The Cowboys will most likely be the team looking to drop down if Decastro and Kirkpatrick are off the board. This suits both parties, the Bengals Grab the number one running back as Benson will not be back, and the Cowboys get an extra pick in round 3 by only moving down 3.
15. EAGLES - PICK - KENDALL WRIGHT WR : Many will say Linebacker but i dont think any of them fit the bill for the Dream Team. Upshaw may be looked at but the Eagles dont like drafting Linebackers this early. I see them going for a glamour player and none make more sense than Kendall Wright. Picking Wright and letting Jackson go, will seem like not much has changed for Vick. He is the quickest reciever by a mile and probably has better hands than Jackson. This could be great business for the Eagles, as they are a team that can get the best out of Kendall Wright's abilities.
16. JETS - PICK - MELVIN INGRAM OLB : Jets look here to upgrade their pass rush. With size and speed he offers great middle round value. A clever player to take over from Pace from day one.
17. COWBOYS - TRADE DOWN 3 - JANORIS JENKINS CB : With Claibourne, Decastro and Kirkpatrick gone the Cowboys trade with the Bengals to get an extra pick in the 3rd. With their Cornerback needs so huge, it must be their first port of call. At pick 17 and with extra 3rd round pick Jenkins seems to be worth his value here.
18. CHARGERS - PICK - NICK PERRY OLB : With the introduction of Joe Barry from USC, i see Nick Perry being taken if he's here. Chargers need defense help and the inconsistancy of the Linebackers needs addressing. With Perry coming in i see them getting instant results. Making Rookies comfortable can help them develop quicker in the NFL game.
19. BEARS - PICK - COURTNEY UPSHAW OLB : Not a need but here's my reasoning. Bringing back Forte on a Big contract may price them out of a big Wide Receiver need in Free Agency. With that in mind they may look at Floyd and Jeffery in the draft. But do they offer the same Value as Upshaw if he is availble, to me they don't. With a bigger crop of receivers availble in the second round they take Upshaw here. A real leader for the Future. Played in an NFL system at Alabama and is Vesatile enough to play the Bears systems alongside Briggs, Urlacher and Roach.
20. TITANS - PICK - PETER KONZ C : Not their biggest need but nore was Locker. They take Konz and upgrade on Amano.
21. BENGALS - PICK - CORDY GLENN OG : Glenn is a player that can come straight in from day one and do a job. Livings and Williams are not the Future and should both be let go as free agents. So i have them here looking to a former Georgia teammate of AJ Green and Boling to be the Future LG they need. Scouts are raving about this lad and the senior bowl showed this boy has a big future in the NFL
22. BROWNS - PICK - LAMAR MILLER RB : With HIllis Gone, they pull the trigger on this Speedster from Miami. Picking up Blackmon and now Miller will massivley help Colt and the Browns offense. 2 bid needs with both 1st round picks.
23. LIONS - PICK - ZACH BROWN OLB : The Lions will be in a bit of a ponder. Their main targets are more than likely off the board, so they need to make sure they get Value with their 23rd pick. They have a real contract concern with Avril and Tulloch, also losing depth in the linebacker position. Picking Brown can help them concerns as i still believe he offers value in the middle of round one. He plays in a 4-3 system, has good anticipation and you know what your getting here.
24. STEELERS - PICK - DONT'A HIGHTOWER ILB : Steelers main concerns is getting there salary cap down. this may see them cutting some big names leaving holes that are nt yet needs. I see the Steelers taking the best player available, and i do't think you get much better value than Hightower altho Mike Adams may be looked at after his Senior bowl. I'm staying with Hightower as i believe Foote or Farrior could be shown the door leaving Hightower the best pick open to them. Hightower is definatly suited better to a 3-4 system. He plays in an NFL style defense at Alabama and will be a good value pick for the Steelers.
25. BRONCOS - PICK - WHITNEY MERCILUS OLB : The Broncos have a few free agents hitting the market. They could look at a number of positions to strengthen and deepen but i see the Value pick here as Mercilus. He can play DE or OLB in the Broncos system and adds more abilities to an already great pressure defense. To me he seems to fit the mold of a Bronco defender. Picking Value here allows them to release fringe players Hunter and Woodyard, leaving Mercilus to play both positions for the Broncos.
26. TEXANS - PICK - ALSHON JEFFERY WR : Surviving a season against top-level, SEC defensive backs and still putting up respectable numbers is something to be said. I think his up-sides are worth the risks. Texans are another reciever away from a Championship or Superbowl apperance. With their defense so good now it may be time to take a receiver this early. He may not have the sort of Character they go for but talent is talent, they have to take him here and Develop him. Being in that dressing room will help his character alot.
27. PATRIOTS - PICK - FLETCHER COX DT : Cox is as Steady as they come. A no risk pick which will only get better. Can play many systems on the Defensive line. With the size and ability that Bill looks for along the line. The Patriots loves a trade but i see him getting his needs in the first round and trading in the second. The Superbowl game proved their Defense needs looking at.
28. PACKERS - PICK - VINNY CURRY OLB : I see the Cheesemen loving Curry. I see Curry as an OLB due to his speed and smaller size. With Curry and Matthews attacking from either side it will only help a defense that lacked getting to the opponents QB. Will upgrade on Waldon and Jones from day one.
29. RAVENS - PICK - VONTAZE BURFICT MLB : With no massive needs on the Defense, Burfict seems to be the best value on that side of the game. They very well may look at Michael Floyd here on the offense side but think they may look in Free agency for another receiver as Torri Smith was grabbed early last year. Burfict seems to be the best value, can learn off Ray Lewis in the middle.
30. 49ERS - PICK - MICHAEL FLOYD WR : The Wide Receiver roster in Free agency this year is deep. This allows teams looking for a receiver in the Draft benefiting alot. With Crabtree not producing out wide and looking a better receiver in the slot, they need a big red zone target for Alex smith to find other than tight end Vernon Davis. They will more than likely bring back one of their Free agent receivers but picking up Floyd should be great Value here. A must in my eyes.
31. PATRIOTS - PICK - MARK BARRON S : By now your thinking how come they have not traded and grabbed 2 defenders. This is because there is Value their when they pick. Bill is not stupid when i comes to the Draft. he will grab players that need to be taken at times when they offer Value. I believe Barron will offer great value to Bill even without a Combine. Extremely talented and Barron plays in a similar system to the patriots.
32. GIANTS - PICK - DWAYNE ALLEN TE : As Superbowl champions there is no glaring need, but the Giants know what their getting here. With Ballard and Beckum both having ACL injuries it may be best bringing them back gradually, Dwayne can start from day one. Giants pick the best player availble and to me Dwayne Allen offers good value and depth to the Giants. I reckon Finley could be on their radar if contract room becomes free with Ross, Manningham or Usi not returning. But thats a big IF.
33. RAMS - PICK - RONNELL LEWIS OLB : Fisher likes his linebackers aggressive. A Tackling machine, good against the Run and will play OLB in the system.
34. COLTS - PICK - CHASE MINNIFIELD CB : First rounder potential and best on the board in a position need for the Colts.
35. VIKINGS - PICK - STEPHON GILMORE CB : Best on the board in a position they need. Will add some presence in their secondary.
36. BUCCANEERS - PICK - MOHAMED SANU WR : Idealy if Hightower were available they would grab a middle Linebacker letting Mason Foster move back to his OLB position. With no real value to them on Defense i reckon looking at a weapon for Freeman would be wise. With Mike Sullivan now there to help Freeman, he will ask to value big time receivers to help evolve Freeman into the Elite status. Sanu teaming up with the Former Rugters coach may be the answer. Sanu will be know well be the coach helping ease his move into the NFL. To me this makes alot of sense then it gives them an opportunityn to grab Tulloch or Hawthorne in free agency. By spending big in Free agency mainly on defensive players will help create experience and stability on defense. Now they can grab Freeman some playmakers in the draft.
37. BROWNS - PICK - MIKE ADAMS OT - This lad just looks like an NFL tackle. The Senior Bowl could have put him into First round, but I've got the Browns grabbing him here. With Guard Eric Steinbach more than likely gone because he's owed £6m and Pashos the real weak link at RT, they address the offensive line with this Value pick. Some say they may grab Tannehill but I have a hunch they will look in round 3 at Ryan Lindley of San Diego for a QB option. I beleive they will give McCoy one more year. At least if someone does come in next year, they would have addressed some key areas in this years draft.
38. JAGUARS - PICK - KELECHI OSEMELE LG : Many people will ask about a Receiver, On the Receiver issue i would put all of the work into getting Vincent Jackson to be their man. If Gabbert cant do it with him then Gabbert is not the Answer. I have them grabbing a dominating guard here to help the runs of MJD. He offers more value than any receiver here to date above Jones, Quick or Randle. They may very well look at Cornerback Norman here aswell but i don't see the Value as i do with Kelechi. Solid pick to protect there prize assist.
39. VIKINGS - TRADE (From Redskins in the 1st Round) - BRANDON THOMPSON DT : The Senior Bowl proved it. Brandon is a big time rush stopper. Stats dont show how important he could be for the Vikings. I think they will look in Free Agency for an astablished partner for Percy Harvin.
40. PANTHERS - PICK - RUEBEN RANDLE WR : Perfect for the Air Coryell system. Giving Cam another Target for the Red zone.
41. BILLS - PICK - NICK TOON WR : With alot of their Receivers hitting Free Agency they may need to address it in the second round. Toon is shooting up most peoples boards. I can see him getting the same numbers as Steve Johnson if the Bills let him go. Looking around at Value picks for position needs for the Bills, i see Toon being no more of a risk as anyone else out there.
42. DOLPHINS - PICK - RYAN TANNEHILL QB : Mike Sherman the OC knows Ryan pretty well from his time at Texas A&M. I think Flynn will be Philbin's number one target, but i dont think its a waist grabbing Tannehill here if he's still around.
43. SEAHAWKS - PICK - KIRK COUSINS QB : His senior bowl has put him here. He plays in an NFL style offense and puts up the consistant numbers for a Back up QB. Great in a play action run offense.
44. CHIEFS - PICK - DONTARI POE NT : A NT they need to replace Gregg long term.
45. COWBOYS - PICK - JARED CRICK DE : I think will sore come combine and a definate early second round prospect. A great player for the 3-4 System. The Cowboys have to take him here.
46. EAGLES - PICK - JEREL WORTHY DT : Offers great presence in the Front 2. With no massive value at Linebacker they go to their second need on defense with a defensive tackle.
47. JETS - PICK - CHRIS POLK RB : With the Jets already making the switch at offensive coordinator from Brian Schottenheimer to the run-first play-calling of recently hired OC Tony Sparano, they have sent the message that they will be going back to the ground-and-pound game. Greene and Polk sounds good to me as he offers a more patient run game than the power of Green.
48. PATRIOTS - PICK - ANDRE BRANCH DE : Most People have them trading down still, but like i said they will get their targets and then trade later if the value is not their for later or next year picks. With Brandon Lloyd following Daniels to New England im staying with Defense rather than an Offense weapon. DE is a position they need to fill with Free agency taking a possible 3 players from their roster. Grabbing Branch will please Bill. He is a great fit and size that suits New England.
49. CHARGERS - PICK - BILLY WINN DE : His stock has fallen but if he falls here the Chargers should grab him. Great DE in a 3-4 system.
50. BEARS - PICK - KEVIN ZEITLER LG : Picking him ahead of the Falcons and Steelers. Zeilter will only Improve Fortes running game and a Chicago push for a Superbowl.
51. EAGLES - PICK - LAVONTE DAVID OLB : Going Defense now and Linebacker. They pick a hard tackling 4-3 Linebacker that serves his purpose also as an excellent cover player against the pass. The best value player in a position need for the Eagles.
52. TITANS - PICK - BRUCE IRVIN OLB : This pick is the pass rushing option they need that can get them sacks. Will give them a great value pick in the middle of round
53. BENGALS - PICK - LEONARD JOHNSON CB : A Sleeper. The Bengals really need secondary help as the performance by them against the Texans in the wildcard match was terrible. Johnson held Blackmon to under 100 yards this year and Blackmon said he was one of the best CB's he faced.
54. STEELERS - PICK - ALAMEDA TA'AMU NT : The Steelers like i said in the first round will address their salary cap. Doing this they will grab the best players available. Hightower in the first and now Ta'amu. With Hoke gone and Hampton looking to expensive to keep they address NT with this massive pressure player.
55. FALCONS - PICK - TRUMAINE JOHNSON CB : Grimes most likely gone and a weak secondary already they probably should address this first along with the offensive line. Brandon Washington or Zebrie Sanders could be other options they look at if they go Offense.
56. LIONS - PICK - ALFONZO DENNARD CB : His stock got hurt at the Senior Bowl but wont drop pass the Lions here who need massive help in the Secondary. Coming out of Nebraska like 2 year Lion Ndmukong Suh, Opponents only completed 49% of there passes last year thats down to Dennard and the season he put in, even with a poor senior bowl.
57. BRONCOS - PICK - COBY FLEENER TE : This is win win for the Broncos. They take a 6'6 TE here with great hands. This helps with downfield mis matches for Tebows throwing power. Also helps in the protection of there run game.
58. TEXANS - PICK - HARRISON SMITH S : I think Smith is a sleeper, Mayock thinks this lad is a 2nd round player and looking at him i couldn't disagree. The Texans are the masters of grabbing Defensive talent. they grab another one here.
59. SAINTS - PICK - BOBBY WAGNER OLB : His stock has risen since a great senior bowl. He is a smart OLB that the saints need. Could be the Steal of the round.
60. PACKERS - PICK - DAVID WILSON RB : Another defensive player for their system just doesn't seem to make sense here. Wilson tho does. They will love his attitude and dressing room qualities, with Grant most likely hitting Free agency, Wilson can slot straight in playing the 2 back system with Starks. Its like Grant has never left.
61. RAVENS - PICK - BRIAN QUICK WR : There is always a player from a smaller school that turns up and gets grabbed high, I see the Ravens needing more weapons for Flacco, who has put up great numbers for 3 years. He looks a good player to replace Evans long term in Cams Air Coryell system.
62. 49ERS - PICK - JAMES BROWN OL : I know he played LT at Troy but i can see this guy being the real deal at Guard. Versatile and a big sleeper in my eyes.
63. PATRIOTS - PICK - BEN JONES C : Still no trade!. Again their is value here, with the possibilty of Connelly and Koppen gone they grab a center. i think Bill will love this boys character.
64. GIANTS - PICK - BOBBY MASSIE RT : This guy has real potential if the Giants grab him here.

Ravens Pre Combine Draft
Ozzie said OL, WR, and pass rusher are the primary needs. With backups at ILB and Safety also being consideration. It is still difficult to anticipate where we go. Not only is Ozzie extremely good in drafting, he is excellant at working the free agent market. Picking up FB, S, LOT and G/C last year were master strokes. So, he may have plans for filling some of these needed positions with free agents. Here goes.
1 Round 2012 NFL Mock Draft
Hey guys, I put together a quick mock draft and thought I'd share. I'll likely extend it and add explanations for the picks after the combine and free agency when things start coming together. Feel free to share your thoughts good or bad, I'll do my best to respond. I put in a few trades I think have a good chance of happening also.
