2010 NFL Draft: Centers
QB | RB | WR | TE | OT | G | C | DE | DT | OLB | MLB | CB | FS | SS
| 1. Maurkice Pouncey | 6'5, 318 pounds | Florida | ||
Pouncey emerged as the premier center in the nation as a junior. He's smart enough to make all the line calls and agile enough to block on the move. |
| 2. J.D. Walton | 6'3, 305 pounds | Baylor | ||
On the preseason watch list for the Lombardi Award as well as the Rimington and Outland trophies, Walton has had a great career since transferring from Arizona State. He's an outgoing player who has been a work horse for the Bears. He snaps and quickly gets into his blocking motion without letting defenders get into his frame. Physical in the run game, but he's mostly a phone booth blocker. |
| 3. Matt Tennant | 6'4, 291 pounds | Boston College | ||
While he'll need to get much stronger for the NFL, Tennant has great length. He uses that to get inside the pads of rushers and drive them back. He has functional upper body strength and really puts it on display on running plays. If he could do a little better in space and increase his foot quickness, he could be a starter at the next level. |
| 4. Eric Olsen | 6'4, 305 pounds | Notre Dame | ||
Olsen has successfully moved from guard to center as a senior and does a nice job handling the line audibles. He's a solid in-line blocker who can handle tackles on his own. Olsen might be best at guard, but he really doesn't do anything wrong as a center. |
| 5. Ted Larsen | 6'2, 300 pounds | North Carolina State | ||
Larsen is a converted defensive tackle and has shown his versatility by playing both guard and center for the Wolfpack. He's an effort player with solid fundamentals. Larsen consistently stays low in his stance with his knees bent. He does a really good job with speed rushers and can redirect nicely. He's not much of a finisher in the running game, but he works hard. |
| 6. Chris Hall | 6'4, 300 pounds | Texas | ||
Another versatile lineman, Hall has started every position along the front five. He's more of a finesse blocker who good length and flexibility. His footwork is ready for the NFL, but he needs to improve as a run blocker. Hall has a tendency to be static in his movement and gives up leverage. |
| 7. John Estes | 6'3, 300 pounds | Hawaii | ||
A first-team all-conference pick the past two seasons, Estes has made his name as a solid all-around center. He has quick feet that he always keeps in motion in run blocking. Once he locks onto a player, he generally sticks in front of them. However, he has a tendency to get high in his stance allowing defenders to push him back. |
