Captain of the Tailgate: Memories
Every Friday over the past several weeks we've be talked tailgating. That's thanks to a cool sponsorship deal with Captain Morgan. You know, the maker tasty sweet spiced rum with the wacky pirate mascot. Mmmm.
This is the last of these posts. They've been somewhat enjoyable.
Anyway, I want to get some interaction on this one. Tell me the worst weather you've tailgated in. Mine is after the jump, along with a video of Marissa Miller.

Today's topic is balls. No, not the gargantuan pants danglers Les Miles drags around. We're talking footballs, you sick freak.
After eating and boozing it up, there's always some time to kill before kickoff. Instead of having a real conversation with a real person, we choose to throw misshapen flaps of pig epidermis at each other. It's wonderful. However, this wonder can quickly be ruined by a poor football.
Captain of the tailgate: Mess with the mix
Every Friday over the next several weeks we'll be talking tailgating. That's thanks to a cool sponsorship deal with Captain Morgan. You know, the maker tasty sweet spiced rum with the wacky pirate mascot. Mmmm.
So far this tailgating season we've talked about grills and marinades. This week, it's mixed drinks. Mixed drinks at tailgates are usually passed off by dullards as "girlie," in favor of liquid crap like Natural Ice. However, a distinguished man, such as myself, prefers a good mixed drink for two reasons. 1. They taste better. 2. They get you drunk quicker.
Our fine sponsor Captain Morgan mixes especially well with cranberry juice. I like to mix three parts cranberry juice with one part Captain Morgan over ice for a quick cocktail. But if you really want something tasty, add an extra step. Mix together two parts cranberry juice with two parts ginger ale and one part Captain Morgan. It's wonderful. Another good one, coincidentally perfect for this time of year, is Captain Morgan added to warm apple cider.
In the comments, let me know what kind of mixers you like to ingest. If you get that far, you'll see a fun video of Marissa Miller. If you don't get the reference in the headline, your life kinda sucks. Sorry.
Captain of the Tailgate: A cheap grill means more money for booze
Every Friday over the next several weeks we'll be talking tailgating. That's thanks to a cool sponsorship deal with Captain Morgan. You know, the maker tasty sweet spiced rum with the wacky pirate mascot. Mmmm.
This week, it's grills. Last week, it was my favorite marinade.
The most-vital component of tailgating is the grill. It's not the football. It may not even be the drinks. It's what cooks the slabs of meat. A lot of tailgates you see on TV have these big, huge grills used for smoking and slow-cooking giants pieces of meat.
They've got it wrong. Keep the grill small. Smaller means cheaper. Cheaper means you can spend more money on booze. That means you can more easily sit through your awful team losing. In the comments, let me know what kind of grill you use for tailgating. If you get that far, you'll see a fun video of Marissa Miller.
Captain of the Tailgate: A marinade with rum? Yum

As some of you may know, I am an Akron Zips fan. The Zips have the longest losing streak among FBS teams. The same Zips who had maybe 3,000 fans in attendance last Saturday.
So it goes without saying that tailgating has become more important than the football. Even more important? Getting hammered before the game in the tailgate lot. More on that next week. But conveniently enough, one of the things we cook for tailgating has a a Captain Morgan-based marinade. You can find the recipe and a fun video featuring Marissa Miller after the jump.
