What's to like/What's not to like

What's to like:

  • Georgia DE Marcus Howard ran a 4.45. This makes him a very attractive player for any 3-4 team as an OLB.
  • San Diego QB Josh Johnson has been amazing all week. His 4.55 was the fastest for any quarterback and his footwork looks to be improved.
  • Matt Forte' running a 4.46. He has it all, folks.
  • Mike Jenkins and Leodis McKelvin both running sub 4.38s. Amazing for two players that have solidified top 15 status this week.
  • Vernon Gholston and Jake Long throwing up 37 reps of 225lbs.
  • Josh Barrett= Workout Warrior.
  • Darren McFadden's workouts.

What's not to like:

  • Jermichael Finley running a 4.82 in the 40. Horrible for an "athletic" tight end.
  • Neither Dan Connor (flu) or Keith Rivers (injury) worked out.
  • Colt Brennan was very cocky and pointed a lot of fingers in interviews.
  • Sedrick Ellis and Calais Campbell looked heavy and slow in every drill.
  • Mario Manningham running a 4.52. This is a guy that is banking on being a deep threat.
  • John Carlson's 4.9. This should wake up scouts that have him in the top 4 TEs.
  • DeSean Jackson (167lbs) weighs less than me by 20lbs.
  • Darren McFadden's four kids (reportedly).

Chris Johnson

I want the Colts to get him so bad. He fills three spots that they need, he can backup Addai, return kicks and has the hands and experience fill in at WR if the Colts struggle with injuries again.

Will he be around at pick #60? and am I wrong in thinking he'd be pefect for the Colts? They are pretty set for their starters so they're drafting for depth and wouldn't be ignoring any pressing needs by taking him.

CJ

I don't think we'll see him around at 60. His speed plus his play at the Senior Bowl are going to make him a very intriguing prospect for most first round teams.

Spending a day one (rds 1-2 now) pick on a running back may be foolish for the Colts with Addai entrenched as the starter.

wow, CJ has really shot up the boards huh?

I was hoping the Steelers might be able to snag him as well but that was when he was a 3rd round projection or so.

How about Matt Forte? He's got the size and speed to be a very interesting prospect. You guys had him in the end of the second round in the Jan draft preview. How far has he moved up or has anyone leaped over him?

Forte

I really like Forte and he had a very good Combine. He was among the best in the position drills and ran well.

I think he's been surpassed by some of the juniors, but he is the best senior running back in my book.

The Colts look like they're trying not to

overwork Addai, they gave Kenton Keith 1/3rd of the carries even after he repeatedly cost them with his hands of stone. He did run the ball very well, but the Colts need a their RBs to catch the ball and they seem to be set on give their #2 back a good chunk of carries so I think a RB with good hands is a need. Chris Johnson can also return kicks or split wide making him more than just a standard backup and more worthy of a 2nd round pick.

no doubt

Johnson would be a hell of a threat in their slot as a fourth receiver when the Colts spread the field. That would certainly scare me when the Steelers play them.

Johnathon Goff and Kendall Langford

I've been trying to keep an eye on these two mid-round guys, did either of them do much at the combine to either help or hurt their cause? Do you think they'll good at the next level and would they be decent fits for the Steelers

Is Carlson's 40 such a concern?

Cooley ran a 4.83, Utecht 4.80, Donald Lee 4.82, McMichael 4.88, Crumpler 4.76, Mercedes Lewis 4.80, Boss a 4.78, Zach Miller a 4.87--I never thought top speed was very important for a tight end. I guess I'm just curious as to what you mean by "This should wake up scouts that have him in the top 4 TEs".
