Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL Playoff Bound? Do you care?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are (9-3) with the final quarter of the season remaining to be played. Despite the record, the performances from week to week have really been a mixed bag: The Bucs spanked the Falcons and Panthers, got up ended by the Broncos, nearly lost to the Chiefs, and the Detroit Lions gave them a bigger fight than could be expected from a winless club. With that said, it appears at least a Wild Card appearance is in the cards considering the free fall the Redskins have recently experienced. Obviously all we want is for this team to make the Playoffs year in and year out, anything else is icing on the cake, but what’s your confidence level in this team and their Playoffs chances?

I’m not overly confident in this team’s chances should they make the playoffs, but I have to admit that I feel they have a better shot at advancing then they did last season. I’ve never seen this team comeback to win so many ball games in a season. Whether that will help them against the New York Giants of the world is a question to be answered when the challenge presents itself. Its games like the Dallas Cowboys match-up that stop me from getting overly excited about a Playoff run. Don’t get me wrong, I’m ecstatic as a fan to see my team be so successful and potentially make a Playoff berth two years in a row, but I’m not going to Vegas on their odds for a Super bowl run. How about you? Do you feel this team has a shot in the Playoffs?

Head Coach Jon Gruden on being in a position to win the NFC South:

"Well, we are in a position, that doesn’t mean anything really, other than you are in a position. I used to go to the Indy 500 every year. The guy that’s starting in good position hardly ever wins it. It is what it is. We got an opportunity and we’re thankful for that." - Tampa Tribune

About the Bloggers: JScott, Craig T, and The Bull Gator

About JScott:

Lilypie Expecting a baby Ticker

Yep I'm expecting my first child, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

About Craig T:

Craig Smith moved to the beautiful Florida suncoast in December 2006 after braving the freezing winters in Knoxville, TN (yea, yea, I know it's just TN, BUT IT WAS COLD!!!!). Craig graduated from both the University of Tennessee (B.A., Spanish & World Business) and the University of Miami (J.D.) and spends most of his fall Saturdays yelling at the TV in support of his alma maters. His wife has put the NFL Sunday Ticket up as an option for next year, so Craig's Sunday's will also likely include him being glued to the TV.

Craig went to his first Rays and Bucs games in 2003 and became hooked on both teams. He now lives 10 minutes from Raymond James Stadium and goes to games when he can.

About The Bull Gator:

The Bull Gator, aka Joel, had the fortune of attending both the University of Florida and University of South Florida, causing him to attempt to follow and blog about (www.thebullgator.com) two college football teams (don't try to discover his justification for this, you'll only walk away with a headache). Despite being pulled in separate directions on Saturdays (it's always Gators first), he has been a tried and true Bucs' fan since the early 80's. He still wonders why Reidel Anthony wasn't a better NFL receiver and what the Bucs were thinking when they let Thomas Jones leave. TBG loves all things football and has a documented obsession with statistics. While his musings may not be funny to you, be assured he's laughing at himself.

You can contact TBG at thebullgator@live.com, but email at your own risk. You're sure to get back a long winded email over explaining everything and nothing.

Arizona Cardinals Edgerrin James asked to be released? Bucs to sign him?

Word on the street is Arizona Cardinals RB Edgerrin James asked for his release last week:

"We spoke with [general manager] Rod Graves because Edgerrin still believes he is a 1,000-yard back and he is healthy and he is still capable of being a 1,000-yard back for a team," Rosenhaus said. "He is not playing now, and there are teams that are banged up at the running back position that he could help." - Super Agent Drew Rosenhaus per ESPN.com

The Cardinals have publicly denied the reports, as they should if they are wanting to trade Edge rather than release him out right. Rather than delve into this any deeper, would you be interested in bringing James to Tampa? Do we need him?

Fantasy Football Update: Clinging to Life Support

Let's get to it... There's only 6 weeks left in the Fantasy Football Season and teams continue to fall by the waist side: My humble team is one loss away from being completely eliminated from Playoff contention, my opponent this week? League Leader Sendawg (9-2), sweet mercy take it easy on me... Don't laugh Bull Gator, you've been eliminated for Division contention as well, so i guess we are both clinging for life support and praying the AWOL NoahChestNut hits a rut. Alright enough crying here's the current FleaFlicker Standings:

Division 3 appears to be the most intriguing division for the stretch run. WBC and LJTaylor were once world beaters in the division, but at (6-5) collectively, they have a surging competitor in LinuxTx (5-6). Good luck with the chase Tex! Sendawg has already clinched the Wild Card, but he shouldn't need that with the cans he's been opening on opponents this season. I'd be remiss if I didnt point out Buc Beast's three game winning streak and his ability to potentially take over the division from front runner Ghosthippo.. Do what you do boy!!

Good stuff fellas... Set those rosters!!!!

"The Bucs aren't aesthetically appealing. They're a very hard club to watch, but at the end of the day they continue to end up on the right side of the win column" - ESPN's Tom Jackson

"I saw the handwriting on the wall," Bennett said. "I knew from watching Cadillac in practices because of how good he looked. He's their franchise back and they wanted him out there. On Monday, I didn't even get a rep in practice and I knew what was coming."

Fantasy Football Week 10 Results

The Fantasy Football Season keeps on chugging along. This week The Bull Gator handed Ghosthippo his second loss of the season leaving him atop the league with Sendawg who also has two losses. Speaking of Sendawg, he has reeled off three wins in a row, way to go man. I'm secretly hoping you meet your demise however, as its the only chance i have at saving face in the league. It pains me to say it, but I'm pulling for Ghosthippo in your match-up of top dogs this weekend... Here's the results in the league thus far:

Fleaflicker has been a fun league to be a part of, but there is one issue i have with the Fantasy Football provider: It's Add/Drop feature. First of all, get rid of the rating system in which players can pick up a player. If someone goes to pick up a player, he should be awarded that player should he be the first to claim him. My second complaint and the more serious of the two is having to wait a week to have players that have been added/dropped to officially clear the roster. What is that? I'm sitting there Sunday and my Tight Ends are a no go, so i attempt to add Daniel Graham just prior to kickoff, does he immediately join my team? Heck no, he gets added once the league resets itself after Monday Night Football. I'll admit I have a foggy memory, but I'm pretty sure NFL.com allows you to add players in real time. This doesnt stop me from enjoying the league, its just a major annoyance for slackers like me who wait til the last minute for everything. Moving on...

Gangplank, I hate to break it to you buddy, but you've already been eliminated from the Fantasy Football Playoffs in Week 10! WoW! Guess you truly are playing to be the spoiler. You're not alone however, although he hasnt been eliminated from the Playoffs, he has been eliminated from a first round bye, Dunnfann. I'd laugh even harder, but I'm soon to be in the same boat as you fellas.

Update your rosters!!!

"Recently, I decided to conduct my dissertation at Kent State University on sports fans (NFL fans) perceptions of each other, as well as winning and losing and how it affects fan behavior. As a part of this, I have decided that I could get much better feedback from NFL fans online than I could ever get from a room full of college students rushing through a survey for class points and so I'd like to present your readers with this survey..." - John from Kent State
